Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly May Become Border Guards

April 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Will-FerrellWill Ferrell and John C. Reilly have had a successful partnership with the likes of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Step Brothers. However it’s been a few years since they properly co-starred together (beyond Reilly’s uncredited cameo in Anchorman 2).

However now they’re planning to reunite for the comedy Border Guards, according to Deadline. It should also bring them back together with Talladega and Step brothers director Adam McKay.

Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop, Four Lions) came up with the script, which is about two friends (Ferrell and Reilly) who decide to become border patrol guards to add some purpose to their lives. Things get turned around when they accidentally get stranded in Mexico without identification and must try to sneak back into America.

It’s not clear yet when the movie might go into production.

First Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer – The Marvel movie is looking pretty cool & so is Chris Pratt

February 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Guardians Of The Galaxy was first announced, a few people were left scratching their heads. Most who weren’t comic fans had never heard of it, and when they found out it was set in space but featured a living tree and a talking raccoon, many were ready the pass it off as a major mistake on Marvel’s part. However now the first trailer is here and it’s looking really cool and as if it could be a lot of fun.

‘From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

‘Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which first appeared in comic books in Marvel Super-Heroes, Issue #18 (Jan. 1969). James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige producing, and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. The story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” releases in UK cinemas on August 1, 2014.’

Marvel has obviously learned a lot from their previous films, and seems to have smartly gone for an outer space look that’s grimy enough to be believable, while having plenty of humour to help keep the whole moving along. No we can’t wait to see the whole thing!

Take a look at the trailer above and some images from it below… [Read more…]

Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly Reuniting For Devil’s Night

October 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Will-FerrellIn the mid-2000s, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly became an unexpected but very popular comedy partnership. However we haven’t had a movie from them for a while, but now TheWrap reports that are reuniting once again for Devil’s Night.

The movie is about Leonard and Gabe, two best friends who bonded over the annual Devil’s Night, which on October 30th in the 1970s and 1980s, was an unofficial holiday where young men and women would commit acts of vandalism and arson. Leonard and Gabe’s hijinks eventually lead to their friendship’s abrupt ending. 15 years later, they must reunite to help save their town from massive destruction and chaos.

Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul wrote the screenplay, with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay producing through their Gary Sanchez Productions company. It doesn’t appear a director is attached as yet.

John C. Reilly Rumoured For Guardians Of The Galaxy

May 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

john-c-reillyWhile it’s only rumour at the moment, it seems that John C. Reilly may be going into space soon, by joining the superhero movie Guardians Of The Galaxy. Hitfix says Marvel has made as offer to Reilly to play Rhomann Dey, although the actor is yet to commit, partly because, ‘if he comes aboard, it’s a big commitment’.

Rhomann Dey is described as Guardians’ version of Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson from Iron Man 2, Thor and Avengers. In the movie he’ll also have a colleague, with the likes of Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman and Ken Watanabe being looked at for the part. It appears these two characters will act as the bridge between Guardians and the rest of the Marvel Universe, as they’ll act as a liaison between the Guardians and SHIELD.

However while Hitfix describes Dey as human, he isn’t in the comics, so things might be getting shaken up – although it could be that he’s like Thor, looking human but actually of alien origin.

James Gunn is directing, with shooting due to kick off in the UK later this year, with an August 1, 2014 release date set.

New Wreck-It Ralph Trailer – The videogame bad guy wants to turn good

September 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While for the last few years, Disney’s homegrown animation hasn’t always been that great, it looks like they could be on to a winner with Wreck-It Ralph. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s “The Simpsons,” “Futurama”) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in “Wreck-It Ralph.” Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” “Step Brothers”) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, “30 Rock”), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy.He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV’s “Glee”) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, “The Sarah Silverman Program”) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realise his dream and save the day before it’s too late? “Wreck-It Ralph” crashes onto the big screen in February 2013, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select UK cinemas.’

Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie (DVD)

August 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac 2 Comments

Starring: Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, Will Ferrell, Will Forte, John C. Reilly
Director: Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim
Running Time: 93 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: September 3rd 2012

Thanks to the TV series Tom Goes To The Mayor and Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have quite the cult following and so have decided to move into film with Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie. To do so they’ve teamed up with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Funny Or Die, and with cameos from Ferrell, Jeff Goldblum, Zach Galifianakis, Will Forte, John C. Reilly, it all sounds like this should be hilarious.

Sadly it isn’t – or more accurately, it has some very funny moments, but largely it’s just dumb. You get the feeling Tim & Eric are people who know how to make comedy in bite-sized chunks but have floundered when trying to stretch things out to feature-length. The bits that work are essentially slightly surreal sketches within the main narrative, but everything inbetween is either dull, stupid or just plain lazy. It also suffers from the comedy killer that is briefly destroying the characters that have been built up just for a cheap joke. [Read more…]

Wreck-It Ralph Trailer – Disney’s latest animation goes videogame

June 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Now this looks like it might be fun! While we’ve seen pics from Wreck-It Ralph, it’s been difficult to tell whether it was just a good concept or if it could actually be a really good movie – the trailer certainly suggests the latter. New Wreck-It-Ralph Photos Show Off Videogame Cameos

June 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Wreck-It-Ralph is a risky but potentially brilliant idea from Walt Disney Animation, with John C. Reilly voicing the title character, an old-fashioned 8-bit videogame villain who wants to be the good guy.

The plot gives plenty of scope for cameos from various videogame characters (Roger Rabbit style), and a new batch of images show us Ralph with Q*Bert and his former enemies Coily, Slick, and Ugg, while Street Fighter characters Chun-Li and Zangief can be seen in the background. It also shows the different animation styles the film will use, mimicking the different eras of videogames.

If you’re wondering why there’s a picture of a lot of plugs, it’s because this acts as a king of Grand Central Station for the videogame characters, allowing then to move from one to another. Take a look at the pics above and below, and a synopsis of the film is at the bottom of the post. (Images via USA Today)

Here’s the synopsis: Here’s the synopsis: ‘Wreck-It Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his video game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?’

The Dictator Red Band Trailer – Sacha Baron Cohen’s film gets a bit ruder

May 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sacha Baron Cohen returns to cinemas on May 16th with The Dictator, and now a new red band trailer has arrived, which shows us some of the film’s ruder moments. The film is ‘The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed’ and who ends up having to live the life on an ordinary American when he goes to New York to deliver a speech to the UN. Bizarrely, it’s partly based on a book by Saddam Hussein!

Watch Clooney, Pitt and Co. In 8: A Play About The Fight For Marriage Equality

March 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last night a ridiculously star studded ensemble gathered in LA to participate in a reading of Dustin Lance Black’s play, 8, about the fight for marriage equality in California and more specifically the court case that struck down Prop 8, which has banned same sex marriage in the US’ most populous state.

However if you didn’t stay up to watch the livestream which hit 3.45am UK time, the whole thing is now on Youtube, and we’ve embedded it above. As often with staged readings of plays, it’s slightly static and a little hammy, but it still works and the starry ensemble is certainly impressive.

If you want to watch, start the video above and then click “Skip ahead to start” to get to the beginning, about 30 minutes in. It’s well worth watching, with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Kevin Bacon, Jane Lynch, John C. Reilly, Chris Colfer, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Cleve Jones, George Takei,  Yeardley Smith, Christine Lahti, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matthew Morrison and Matt Bomer all taking part.
