New Man Of Steel Trailer – Clark Kent is looking all kinds of hot

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Already today we’ve had trailers for After Earth and The Lone Ranger, and now it’s the turn of Man of Steel. All these big movie promos are lining up now in preparation to play ahead of The Hobbit. Man Of Steel is certainly one of the most intriguing. The trailer continues the introspective tone of the teasers, at least initially, before offering something a bit more explosive and action-packed at the end.

There’s definitely an attempt to sell this as the successor to The Dark Knight, although don’t be surprise if things get less artful and more bombastic as the June 14th release date approaches.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.’

May we just say that Henry Cavill is looking gorgeous. Few people have ever looked so good in a spandex suit and cape. And when we say he’s looking hot we’re not just being metaphorical. Take a look at the screengrab below and drool.

Hailee Steinfeld Joins Kevin Costner In McG’s Action Thriller

November 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hailee Steinfeld got much praise and as Oscar nomination for True Grit, but we haven’t seen much of her since (although IMDB says she’s got six flm in post-production). Now it’s been confirmed, via Deadline, that she’s joined Kevin Costner in director McG’s untitled action thriller, formerly known as Three Days to Kill.

Luc Besson is producing the film, which follows a dying Secret Service agent (Costner) who decides to take on one final mission while simultaneously trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Desperate to save himself, the agent is also part of an experimental drug study that might prolong his life long enough for a sequel. The drug begins to take its toll when it’s discovered that it produces some much-unwanted hallucinatory side effects.

Luc Besson wrote the screenplay alongside Adi Hasak. Production should begin early next year.

Kevin Costner & McG Sign On For Three Days To Kill

October 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While Kevin Costner’s career has seemed on the skid for the past few year, he certainly seems to be making a comeback, with roles in Man Of Steel, the upcoming Jack Ryan reboot and a possible spin-off from that. Now he has closed a deal to take the lead role in a Luc Besson written/producer thriller which is currently untitled, but which until recently was known as Three Days To Kill.

The movie also now has a director in the form of McG (This Means War). The movie is about a Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner who discovers he’s dying and decides to retire in order to reconnect with his estranged family. But when the Secret Service offers him access to an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment, he soon finds himself trying to juggle his family, his mission, and the drug’s hallucinatory side-effects.

It isn’t currently known when the film might shoot. (Source: ThePlaylist)

Kevin Costner Up For The Explorers Guild & Draft Day

September 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kevin Costner’s comeback is picking up steam. After a few fallow years he’s playing Jonathan Kent in Man Of Steel, as well as Jack Ryan’s mentor in the upcoming reboot of the Tom Clancy series (and he may get his own spin-off from that). Now it’s been revealed that Costner has signed with Atria Books for a new serialised illustrated adventure called The Explorers Guild, which is described as being reminiscent of Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling.

The plan is to serialise it across traditional and new media, first as a series of books, then as an animated series, and eventually as live action theatrical films, which Costner intends to produce and star in.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Behind the staid rooms of an old world gentlemen’s club operates a darker, more mysterious organization: The Explorers Guild, a clandestine group of adventurers who seek out the places where light gives way to shadow and reason is usurped by myth. The secrets of this unknown world are hidden in mountain ranges and lost in deserts, sunk to the ocean floor and lodged deep beneath polar ice. The aim of The Explorer’s Guild: to discover the mysteries that lie beyond the boundaries of the known world.

‘Set against the backdrop of World War I, with Western Civilization spiraling into chaos, the first installment in The Explorers Guild series, A Passage to Shambhala, concerns the Guild’s quest to find Shambhala, the golden city of Buddhist myth. Each member is driven toward the City for a different reason: one believes that finding it will save his brother’s life; another hopes that it will reveal a path to spiritual enlightenment. Some believe the power of the city can be used to restore peace, while others are certain that Shambhala is responsible for bringing mankind to the brink of apocalypse.

‘The search will take us from the Polar North to the Mongolian deserts, through the underground canals of Asia to deep into the Himalayas, before the City finally divulges its secrets and the globe-spanning journey plays out to its startling conclusion.’

Costner commented , “A heroic quest with the vivid wildness of Jules Verne, and steeped in world history but with mystical overtones, I believe that The Explorers Guild series will engage readers of all ages in a multi-generational experience that will lend itself to a host of entertainment platforms. As a storyteller and filmmaker, I am intrigued by the inherent resourcefulness, wit, and at times violent nature these characters embody, and I am truly excited to partner with Judith Curr and her team at Atria to bring this epic tale to readers around the world.”

There’s also news via TheWrap that Costner is circling the Ivan Reitman football comedy Draft Day. He’d play the general manager of the Buffalo Bills, who spends his days looking for top players to save his troubled team.

Kevin Costner Could Be Jack Ryan’s Mentor & Have Three Days To Kill

August 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For quite a long time Kevin Costner’s career was on the slide largely because he continued to want to always be the leading man, even though audiences weren’t as interested in his movies as they had been. However he now appears to have accepted that supporting roles are a good way for him to keep his profile high, most notably playing Jonathan Kent in the upcoming Man Of Steel.

Now he’s looking to take on two new roles, one a supporting character in a high profile movie and the other slightly smaller but with Costner in the lead. He’s currently being sought to play Jack Ryan’s mentor in the planned reboot of the Tom Clancy franchise. Chris Pine will play Ryan, with Kenneth Branagh directing. Costner’s part would apparently be pretty large, although still second-fiddle to Pine.

The other movie is Three Days to Kill, which would feature Costner as Ethan Renner, an government assassin on the verge of death that takes on one final mission. The script is written by Adi Hasak and Luc Besson. (Source: Deadline)

Kevin Costner Signs Up For Running Drama McFarland

July 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I think it’s fair to say that Kevin Costner likes sports. After all, there can’t be many other reasons he’s spent half his career making the likes of Bull Durham, Field Of Dreams, Tin Cup, For The Love Of The Game and Play It To The Bone. Now he’s heading back for the running drama McFarland, for Whale Rider director Niki Caro.

The film is based on a true story about a high school sport coach (Costner) who settles into McFarland, California, a poor, Latino community, and turns the cross-country running team into a championship-winning dynasty. Variety describes the movie as ‘a cross between Remember the Titans and Coach Carter.’

Costner hasn’t made that many film appearances in the past few years, but he’ll be hoping his role as Jonathan Kent in Man Of Steel will give him a bit of a career boost, and that McFarland can help with that too.

Man Of Steel Teaser Trailers – First look at Zack Snyder’s take on Superman

July 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Two different Man Of Steel teaser trailers debuted ahead of The Dark Knight Rises on Friday and now both of those have popped up online, and you can watch them here! It certainly suggests a new, grittier, more elegiac feel for as Superman movie, which perhaps isn’t surprising ans Chris Nolan is producing (with Zack Snyder directing). It’s mainly build-up with little special effects, but a nice debut for the film nonetheless, and shows us that this Clark Kent is going to be hiding from his destiny. Take a look at them both and see which you prefer. They are pretty similar, but with different voiceovers – one from Kevin Costner as Superman’s earthly father and the other with Russell Crowe as his alien daddy! As well as Henry Cavill as Superman the movie stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Man Of Steel hits cinemas on June 14th, 2013.
