Kristen Stewart On For Lie Down in Darkness

August 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems Kristen Stewart hasn’t just spent the last couple of weeks issuing apologies for cheating and watching her relationship with Robert Pattinson implode, she’s also been signing up for a new movie. Vulture reports that Stewart has landed the lead role in Lie Down in Darkness, an adaptation of William Styron’s novel, which is set to be directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart).

The actress will play Peyton Loftis, a young woman at the centre of a dysfunctional family in 1950s Virginia. Peyton’s beauty has caused her mother to become jealous and hateful towards her, while the woman’s alcoholic father lusts after her. She also has a crippled sister named Maudie. Sounds like a cheerful one then.

The movie has been eyeing Jennifer Lawrence, but she will be busy for the next six months or so shooting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and X-Men: Days of Future Past back-to-back.

Alex Pettyfer Joins Kristen Stewart in Cali

July 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following his success getting his kit off in Magic Mike, young British star Alex Pettyfer is now in final negotiations to appear in Cali alongside Kristen Stewart, which Nick Cassavetes is set to direct.

The movie is about a San Fernando Valley couple, Chris and Mya (Pettyfer and Stewart), who decide to fake Mya’s death by making a snuff film, before skipping town with loads of cash. Years later, Mya must return home to save her younger sister.

Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog) is directing from a screenplay by Michael Diliberti (30 Minutes or Less, Stop Loss). Kristen Stewart is also making her producing debut on the project. Production is scheduled to begin later this summer, by which time hopefully Stewart will be able to concentrate on the film rather than apologising for cheating on Robert Pattinson. New Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 Character Posters

May 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In November the Twilight Saga comes to an end with Breaking Dawn Part 2. To ensure the twi-hards fervour doesn’t dim, three new character posters have been released, showing close-ups of Edward, Bella and Jacob, which you can see above and below.

The last film ended with Bella getting vampiric and a new half-bloodsucker baby being born. This causes all manner of problem in Breaking Dawn Part 2, with the wolfpack angry but Jacob imprinted on the child, the Volturi wanting to assert their power and Bella getting used to her lust for blood. You’ll be able to find out how it all pans out on November 16th.

David Koepp Writing Snow White and the Huntsman Sequel

April 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Universal must have confidence that its action fairytale flick, Snow White And The Huntsman, will be a success, as while the movie isn’t released until June 1st, Deadline reports that the studio is already in talks with screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park) to write a sequel to the revisionist tale. The word is that Universal wants to fast-track the sequel, and is trying to secure director Rupert Sanders to make it his next project.

In Snow White And The Huntsman, Kristen Stewart stars as Snow, who teams up with the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who was originally sent to kill her, so they can take down the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) stepmother. While the film retains many elements of the original fairytale, the action and scale has been amped up significantly. The three primary actors are believed to have deals in place already to return for a follow-up.

It isn’t known when the sequel might shoot, but presuming the first film is a success, Universal wants to the sequel as soon as possible.

Kristen Stewart Decides To Move to Cali

April 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While there’s no evidence snuff films actually exist, the idea of them is too intriguing for Hollywood to ignore, and so movies about them pop up at fairly regular intervals. Now Kristen Stewart has signed on to star in one called Cali, according to Variety.

The actress will play Mya, who along with her boyfriend Chris, sells a fake snuff film of her ‘death’ before leaving town with loads of cash. Years later, Mya is forced to return to the San Fernando Valley to save the younger sister she left behind. When the couple comes back to town, they must deal with volatile former business partners, murderous porn stars, and a stone-cold killer in a cowboy hat.

Michael Diliberti (30 Minutes or Less) wrote the screenplay, while Kristen Stewart will make her producing debut on the project.

Snow White & the Hunstman certainly looks like it’s gonna be a stylish flick. Now a new trailer has arrived for the film, and not only that, but there’s also a five-minute extended look at the fairy tale turned all action fantasy epic. and it’s looking ace. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power. Gorgeous Snow White & The Huntsman Featurettes

March 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While there are two Snow White movies due this year, Snow White & The Huntsman is the one that looks like it’s going to be the big one, with the visuals we’ve had so far being absolutely gorgeous. Now a preview of the new trailer has arrived (the full promo should be online soon), along with three short featurettes looking at The Queen (as played by Charlize Theron), Setting The Scene and the Costumes. The revisionist take on the classic story sees Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman who’s told to take Snow White to the woods and kill her, but who ends up teaching her how to survive. The featurettes are full of info and some great footage. The film certainly looks like it’s going to be gorgeous to look at when it arrives on June 1st.

On The Road Trailer

March 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of talk about Walter Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic On The Road, with many suggesting it shouldn’t be made into a film, others being wary about the cast, while many have been avidly looking forward to it. Now the first trailer has arrives, so we can get a hint at the tone of the film and it’s rather sepia colour palette. However, its difficult to tell from this whether the movie will retain the strong homoerotic undertones of the book.

#The film follows Sal Paradise (Sam Riley), an aspiring New York writer who meets Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund), a devastatingly charming ex-con, who’s married to the very liberated and seductive Marylou (Kristen Stewart). Sal and Dean bond instantly. Determined not to get locked in to a constricted life, the two friends cut their ties and take to the road with Marylou. Thirsting for liberty, the three young people head off in search of the world, of other encounters, and of themselves. It’s currently due out on the UK on September 21st.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (Blu-ray)

March 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli
Director: Bill Condon
Running Time: 117 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: March 12th, 2012

It’s become almost de rigueur to slag off the Twilight movies, with the usual tack being to criticise the films for not fitting into the horror/action/thriller tropes that fanboys feel movies about vampires ought to fulfil. Behind that is a rather unpleasant sense that the anger at the franchise stems from fury that someone has dared make a fantasy movie that isn’t designed for the geeks who like to should loudly on the internet. Perhaps worst of all is that these angry young men don’t even seem to appreciate that 90% of the major movies are made for them, so the vitriol they pour at Twilight, simply because it’s popular but not for them, is actually quite ridiculous.
