Don Johnson Joins The Other Woman Opposite Cameron Diaz

June 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

don-johnsonDirector Nick Cassavetes has certainly built an interesting cast for The Other Woman, with Cameron Diaz set for the lead, and the likes of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Leslie Mann, Nicki Minaj and Kate Upton also set to star. Now one more interesting name has been added, as Don Johnson has signed up.

Melissa Stack’s script follows Diaz as a woman who finds out that her boyfriend (Coster-Waldau) is actually married, and that she is the “other woman” in the relationship. She teams up with his vengeful wife (Mann) in a plot to turn the tables on him.

Johnson will play Diaz’a father, a ladies’ man who frequently dates women half his age. Presumably he’ll have a few good tips on how to get back at a cheater.

The film has already started shooting and should be released next spring.

Nicki Minaj Turning Actress In Cameron Diaz Starrer The Other Woman

April 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nicki-minajIt was almost inevitable that at some point American Idol judge and pop star Nicki Minaj would want to try to be an actress, now it’s looks like he’s happening, as THR reports that she will make her live-action movie debut in the 20th Century Fox’s comedy The Other Woman.

Nick Cassavetes is directing from a screenplay by Melissa Stack. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer in New York City.

Leslie Mann & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Join Cameron Diaz In The Other Woman

March 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

leslie-mannA few weeks ago it was revealed that Cameron Diaz had signed on to star in The Other Woman. Now she’s got some company, as THR reports that This Is 40’s Leslie Mann and Game Of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have joined her in the comedy.

The film is about, ‘a woman (Diaz) finding out that she is “the other woman” in an affair. She teams up with the wife (Mann) to get revenge on the cheating cad of a husband (Coster-Waldau).’

Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook) is set to direct the project, which was written by Melissa Stack. It will shoot late spring/early summer in New York.

Notebook Director Nick Cassavetes Compares Gay Marriage To Incest

September 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While support for gay causes is always welcome, there are times when it would be nice if someone could support it quietly. That’s especially true if what they’re going to say both puts their foot in their mouth and may be used by the type of bigots who devour any badly phrased comment to try and prove their point.

That’s what’s happened with Nick Cassavetes, director of The Notebook, My Sister’s Keeper and the upcoming Yellow. He seems to be in favour of gay marriage, but when saying so, he’s managed to equate it with incest, one of the favoured targets of the rabidly anti-gay (i.e., if gays can marry, it’ll lead to incest being acceptable).

Yellow partially deals with incest, and when talking to The Wrap about it, Cassavetes says, “I have no experience with incest. We started thinking about that. We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want.

“Who gives a shit if people judge you? I’m not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if you’re not having kids – who gives a damn? Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you want? If it’s your brother or sister it’s super-weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”

Well, when shagging your sibling, the possibility of genetic mutations if you should have any children (even accidentally), does make it rather different. We do kind of know what he means, but it’s not a particularly fair comparison as there are some very different aspects to take into consideration than gay relationships. Hopefully he can phrase it better when doing more publicity for the film.

Alex Pettyfer Joins Kristen Stewart in Cali

July 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following his success getting his kit off in Magic Mike, young British star Alex Pettyfer is now in final negotiations to appear in Cali alongside Kristen Stewart, which Nick Cassavetes is set to direct.

The movie is about a San Fernando Valley couple, Chris and Mya (Pettyfer and Stewart), who decide to fake Mya’s death by making a snuff film, before skipping town with loads of cash. Years later, Mya must return home to save her younger sister.

Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog) is directing from a screenplay by Michael Diliberti (30 Minutes or Less, Stop Loss). Kristen Stewart is also making her producing debut on the project. Production is scheduled to begin later this summer, by which time hopefully Stewart will be able to concentrate on the film rather than apologising for cheating on Robert Pattinson.
