New Welcome to Marwen Trailer – Steve Carell creates a miniature world for Robert Zemeckis

July 18, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Director Robert Zemeckis returns with Welcome To Marwen, which some think may be in the award season running next year (although it’s way too early to say). It’s certainly being lined up for an awards run with a late 2018 release planned. The new trailer shows it could be powerful if done right, showcasing Zemeckis’ love of bringing effects and technology to stories you might not initially think would need them.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Welcome to Marwen tells the miraculous true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit. When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery. Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic. As he builds an astonishing art installation—a testament to the most powerful women he knows—through his fantasy world, he draws strength to triumph in the real one.

‘In a bold, wondrous and timely film from this revolutionary pioneer of contemporary cinema, Welcome to Marwen shows that when your only weapon is your imagination…you’ll find courage in the most unexpected place.’

Welcome To Marwen also stars, Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Eiza González, Gwendoline Christie, and Janelle Monae. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Vacation (Blu-ray Review)

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Chevy Chase
Director: John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: December 14th 2015 (UK)

The reboot of the Vacation series didn’t get a vast amount of love from critics at the cinema. It meant that, as I often don’t even like comedies others do think are good, I approached this one with a bit of trepidation and little hope that I’d enjoy it. However, I was pleasantly surprised that while by no means a masterpiece, I found it decent enough to watch for 100 minutes.

The film truly is a reboot rather than remake, as it picks up the story of the Griswolds 30 years on from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) is now grown up and has a family of his own. They’re a bit stuck in a rut though, with his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), feeling the sparkle has gone out of their marriage, and sons James (Skyler Gisondo) and Kevin (Steele Stebbins) constantly fighting – although it’s the younger child bullying the older. Vacation Red Band Trailer – Chris Hemsworth has something big in his pant to show us (NSFW)

May 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vacation-Teaser-PosterWhen the trailer for the Vacation reboot was unveiled to a select audience at Cinemacon that main thing that people mentioned was how it featured Chris Hemsworth’s massive, ahem, package (or at least his massive prosthetic). Now we can take a peek for ourselves – although as you’ve probably guessed this red band trailer in NSFW – as well as the return of Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, as they join son Rusty (Ed Helms) and his family on a new trip.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.
Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

‘Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.’

It’s in UK cinemas August 21st. [Read more…]

The Bling Ring Trailer – Emma Watson robs Paris Hilton’s house!

April 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Emma Watson spent years playing a goody-two-shoes in Harry Potter, but she’s certainly letting her hair down in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. The film is set to premiere next month at Cannes, but before then a trailer has been released, giving us a look at Watson as a high-end thief.

The drama is based on the true story of six teenagers, known as The Bling Ring, who broke into the homes of Hollywood celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and The Hills’ Audrina Patridge, making off with over $3 million in stolen goods from October 2008 to August 2009.

Emma Watson, Leslie Mann and Paris Hilton (as herself) all star, while Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale have cameos. There’s also a bunch of newcomers, including Georgia Rock, Israel Broussard, Emma Watson, Katie Chang, and Claire Pfister. [Read more…]

This Is 40 Red Band Trailer – Paul Rudd tries to look up his own butt

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The sort-of sequel to Knocked Up, This Is 40, hits UK cinemas on February 14th, and to get us excited things are getting a little rude with a new red band trailer, where Paul Rudd tries to look up his butt and Megan Fox shows off her bra. It looks like it could be a lot of fun.

The film focuses on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s married couple from Knocked Up, Pete and Debbie, taking a look at their lives five years later as they reach their 40s. That involves a lot of dealing with kids, negotiating sex and putting up with the idiosyncracies of life. The film also stars Jason Segel, Chris O’Dowd, Melissa McCarthy and Albert Brooks.

Judd Apatow is back with a spin-off from Knocked Up, which focuses on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s married couple from that movie, Pete and Debbie. The two children in the image are Maude Apatow and Iris Apatow, Judd’s real-life daughters, who play Pete and Debbie’s two kids in the movie. Not too much is known about the plot, other than it’ll be a coming-of-midlife dramedy. This Is 40 is currently set for UK release on February 14th.

Zac Efron & More May Join This Is Where I Leave You

May 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Gay director Adam Shankman is heading to cinemas next month with Rock of Ages, but he’s already planning his follow-up, as Deadline reports that he’s working on This Is Where I Leave You, and already has Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn and Leslie Mann in talks to star.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. Hawn, who hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2002′s The Banger Sisters, is in talks to play the clan’s mother, while Bateman, Efron (who Shankman directed in Hairspray) and Mann would play the siblings.

It’s a great cast, and while the premise doesn’t sound that much fun, there’s plenty of humour in the tale.
