Tag Trailer – Ed Helms, Jon Hamm & Jeremy Renner don’t want to be ‘it’

March 20, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade — risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!”

‘This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming… and he’s ready.

‘Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

‘“Tag” is directed by Jeff Tomsic (Comedy Central’s “Broad City”), with a starring ensemble cast led by Ed Helms (The “Hangover” movies, “We’re the Millers”), Jake Johnson (TV’s “New Girl”), Annabelle Wallis (“The Mummy”), Rashida Jones (TV’s “Parks and Recreation”), Isla Fisher (“Now You See Me”), Leslie Bibb (“Iron Man 2”), Hannibal Buress (“Neighbors”), with Jon Hamm (“Baby Driver,” TV’s “Mad Men”) and Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker, “The Town”).’

Tag is due in cinemas in July. Take a look at the first trailer before. [Read more…]

Father Figures Trailer – Owen Wilson & Ed Helms want to find their real dad

September 30, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

First it was called Bastards, then it got retitled to the softer Who’s Your Daddy?, and now they’ve altered things again, to Father Figures. But despite the numerous name changes, the movie itself remains the same.

Synopsis: ‘Owen Wilson (“The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Zoolander 2”) and Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films, “We’re the Millers”) star in the Alcon Entertainment comedy “Father Figures,” marking the directorial debut of veteran cinematographer Lawrence Sher (“The Hangover” films).

Wilson and Helms are Kyle and Peter Reynolds, brothers whose eccentric mother raised them to believe their father had died when they were young. When they discover this to be a lie, they set out together to find their real father, and end up learning more about their mother than they probably ever wanted to know.

The film also stars J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”), comedian Katt Williams, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback-turned-actor Terry Bradshaw, Ving Rhames (the “Mission Impossible” films), Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”), and Oscar nominee June Squibb (“Nebraska”), with Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter”), and Oscar nominee Glenn Close (“Albert Nobbs,” “Guardians of the Galaxy”) as the twins’ mother.’

Father figures is due out February 2018. [Read more…]

Who’s Your Daddy? Trailer – Owen Wilson & Ed Helms are b*stards looking for their father

September 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

whos-your-daddy-owen-wilson-ed-helmsWe must be most sensitive in the UK. In America, this film is going by the rather blunt title Bastards, but over here it’s be retitled to the softer Who’s Your Daddy. It’s the same film though, and the same new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Owen Wilson (“The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Zoolander 2”) star in Alcon Entertainment’s comedy “Who’s Your Daddy?” under the direction of Lawrence Sher (“The Hangover” films). The film marks the directorial debut of the veteran cinematographer.

‘Helms and Wilson play Peter and Kyle Reynolds, two brothers whose eccentric mother (Glenn Close) raised them to believe their father had died when they were young. When they discover this to be a lie, they set out to find their real father, learning more about their mother than they probably ever wanted to know.

‘Oscar nominee Glenn Close (“Albert Nobbs,” “Guardians of the Galaxy”) stars as the twins’ mother, Helen, and Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (“Whiplash”), and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback-turned-actor Terry Bradshaw (“Failure to Launch”) join the cast as potential father figures. Rounding out the cast are comedian Katt Williams, Oscar nominee June Squibb (“Nebraska”), Kate Aselton (TV’s “The League”), and Ving Rhames (the “Mission Impossible” films).

‘Scheduled for UK release on February 3rd 2017, the film is an Alcon Entertainment presentation and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.’ [Read more…]

Vacation (Blu-ray Review)

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Chevy Chase
Director: John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: December 14th 2015 (UK)

The reboot of the Vacation series didn’t get a vast amount of love from critics at the cinema. It meant that, as I often don’t even like comedies others do think are good, I approached this one with a bit of trepidation and little hope that I’d enjoy it. However, I was pleasantly surprised that while by no means a masterpiece, I found it decent enough to watch for 100 minutes.

The film truly is a reboot rather than remake, as it picks up the story of the Griswolds 30 years on from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) is now grown up and has a family of his own. They’re a bit stuck in a rut though, with his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), feeling the sparkle has gone out of their marriage, and sons James (Skyler Gisondo) and Kevin (Steele Stebbins) constantly fighting – although it’s the younger child bullying the older. New Vacation Trailer – Ed Helms & Chevy Chase try to have a holiday

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vacation-Main-PosterSynopsis: The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

Goldstein & Daley (“Horrible Bosses,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”) wrote the script, based on characters created by John Hughes. David Dobkin (upcoming “The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers”) and Chris Bender (“We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses 2”) are producing, with Marc S. Fischer and Jeff Kleeman serving as executive producers. [Read more…]

Stretch (Blu-ray Review)

May 31, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, jessica Alba, James Badge Dale
Director: Joe Carnahan
Running Time: 95 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 1st 2015 (UK)

Stretch is a bit of a crazy film. Indeed it’s so crazy that despite a cast full of well-known actors the studio behind it didn’t know quite what to do with it and cancelled its US cinema release just a couple of months before it was due to hit cinemas, before trying to sell it to another distributor. However, that’s a shame as while it is nuts and sometimes incredibly messy, it’s also oddly entertaining, even if you can see the studio’s point that it’s a tough film to properly market.

Patrick Wilson plays an LA limo driver whose life hasn’t turned out as he wanted – he planned to be an actor but never made it, he’s lost the love of his life and now he’s got a massive gambling debt and no time to pay it off. In the hope of getting a massive tip he takes a job driving an extremely eccentric passenger (Chris Pine), but soon finds him caught up in a situation involving foreign gangsters, the FBI, a suitcase full of cash, an asshole version of Ray Liotta (playing himself) and a psychotic tow truck driver. Vacation Red Band Trailer – Chris Hemsworth has something big in his pant to show us (NSFW)

May 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vacation-Teaser-PosterWhen the trailer for the Vacation reboot was unveiled to a select audience at Cinemacon that main thing that people mentioned was how it featured Chris Hemsworth’s massive, ahem, package (or at least his massive prosthetic). Now we can take a peek for ourselves – although as you’ve probably guessed this red band trailer in NSFW – as well as the return of Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, as they join son Rusty (Ed Helms) and his family on a new trip.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Chevy Chase Is Joined By Ed Helms In The First Pics From The Vacation Reboot

April 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

vacation-pic1It’s been a while since we had a Vacation movie. There were four between 1983 and 1997, and then in 2010 came Hotel Hell Vacation, although the less said about that the better. However now the series is returning from straight-to-DVD hell for a full-on reboot, with Chevy Chase and Beverly Beverly D’Angelo returning as Clark and Ellen Griswold.

However the focus now is on the their fully grown son Rusty (now played by Ed Helms), who has a family of his own that are all ready to get into all manner of holiday chaos.

With a July release set the first images from the movie have now arrived, which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The next generation of Griswolds is at it again—and on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.’

Stretch Trailer – Patrick Wilson & Joe Carnahan go to strange places in a limo

September 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stretch-pic5-slideA couple of weeks ago the first rather unusual pictures emerged from Stretch, a movie that looks rather intriguing and had stars such as Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Jessica Alba, Ed Helms, Brooklyn Decker, James Badge Dale, David Hasselhoff, Ray Liotta, and Shaun Toub.

Even with all that going for it, Joe Carnahan’s won’t be getting a US cinema release, instead it’ll be going digital on Amazon and iTunes on October 7th, with a VOD release coming on October 14th.

Wilson plays the central role of a downtrodden man who takes a job as a limo driver to pay off his gambling debts. His first client is an eccentric billionaire (Chris Pine), whose bizarre requests take a toll on the driver’s sanity throughout one crazy night.

Take a look at the trailer below.

Chris Hemsworth & Charlie Day Heading Off On Vacation

August 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris-HemsworthEven though it has seemed close to going into production, back in April 2013 New Line put an indefinite delay on its long-planned reboot of the Vacation franchise. However now it seems it’s getting back on track, with THR reporting that Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day are in talks to star.

Ed Helms is still onboard to play Rusty Griswold, the adult son of Chevy Chase’s Clark Griswold from the original Vacation movies. As you might expect, the new film involves another vacation, this time involving Rusty and his wife (Christina Applegate).

Hemsworth will apparently play the boyfriend of Rusty’s sister Audrey, with Charlie Day as a river raft touring guide.

Last year both Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo were both signed on to reprise their roles as the older Griswolds, but it’s not clear if they’re still involved.

It seems the film will start shooting fairly soon, with Hemsworth squeezing it in between Avengers: Age Of Ultron and The Huntsman, which is due to start shooting in early 2015.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are set to direct, working from their own script.
