New Game Night Trailer – Jason Bateman & Rachel McAdams’ murder mystery party gets funny

February 4, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as Max and Annie, whose weekly couples game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks (Kyle Chandler), arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this “game”—nor Brooks—are what they seem to be.

‘Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn. With no rules, no points, and no idea who all the players are, this could turn out to be the most fun they’ve ever had…or game over.

Jason Bateman and Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams team up in New Line Cinema’s action comedy “Game Night.” John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein are directing the film, marking their second film as co-directors, following “Vacation.”’

The comedy is due out March 2nd, 2018, but you can take a look at the new trailer for the movie below. [Read more…]

Vacation (Blu-ray Review)

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Chevy Chase
Director: John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: December 14th 2015 (UK)

The reboot of the Vacation series didn’t get a vast amount of love from critics at the cinema. It meant that, as I often don’t even like comedies others do think are good, I approached this one with a bit of trepidation and little hope that I’d enjoy it. However, I was pleasantly surprised that while by no means a masterpiece, I found it decent enough to watch for 100 minutes.

The film truly is a reboot rather than remake, as it picks up the story of the Griswolds 30 years on from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) is now grown up and has a family of his own. They’re a bit stuck in a rut though, with his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), feeling the sparkle has gone out of their marriage, and sons James (Skyler Gisondo) and Kevin (Steele Stebbins) constantly fighting – although it’s the younger child bullying the older. New Vacation Trailer – Ed Helms & Chevy Chase try to have a holiday

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vacation-Main-PosterSynopsis: The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

Goldstein & Daley (“Horrible Bosses,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”) wrote the script, based on characters created by John Hughes. David Dobkin (upcoming “The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers”) and Chris Bender (“We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses 2”) are producing, with Marc S. Fischer and Jeff Kleeman serving as executive producers. [Read more…]

Vacation Reboot Shoot Gets Delayed Over Creative Differences

April 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

National-Lampoons-VacationIt took a long time to get from the initial idea of bringing the Vacation series of films back to the big screen to the movie actually preparing to shoot this summer. However now a spanner has been thrown in the works, as THR reports that New Line Cinema is delaying production, so that the movie will no longer start filming in Atlanta this July.

It’s unclear how long the delay will be, as while one source indicates the delay may only be a couple of months long, another suggests that the start of principal photography may be pushed until late this year. That may be problematic though, as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are making their directorial debut from their own screenplay. However Daley is better known as Sweets in Bones, and if the shoot in pushed to the autumn his acting commitments will clash with his directing plans.

Sources claim that creative differences are to blame for the delay, with some involved wanting to make this a broader PG-13 movie, while others want an R-rated comedy, like the original Vacation.

Ed Helms and Christina Applegate are attached to star as Rusty Griswold and his wife, with Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo also set to cameo as Clark Griswold and Ellen Grisworld.

Hopefully the problems will get sorted out and we’ll finally get to see the movie.

Chevy Chase & Beverly D’Angelo Officially In Talks For Vacation Reboot

March 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chevy-chaseEver since the idea of a Vacation reboot/sequel surfaced, there’s been talk of Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo joining, once more playing Clark and Ellen Grisworld. Now, with Ed Helms and Christina Applegate officially attached as Clark’s son Rusty Griswold and his wife, the original actors have entered talks to reprise their roles as Griswold grandparents in the movie, according to Variety.

Ed Helms stars as Rusty Griswold, who takes his wife (Christina Applegate) and children on their first road trip family vacation, which we’re presuming will be as eventful as the ones he went on as a kid. Along the way, they make a pit stop to see Rusty’s mom and dad, Clark and Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo).

Chase and D’Angelo starred as the Griswold parents in 1983’s Vacation, 1985’s European Vacation, 1989’s Christmas Vacation, and 1997’s Vegas Vacation. They also starred in a recent series of Old Navy commercials, along with all of the actors who played their children throughout the franchise.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are making their directorial debuts on the project, working from their own screenplay.

Christina Applegate Going On Vacation, Playing Ed Helms’ Wife

March 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

christina-applegateChristina Applegate is currently back in the world of Anchorman shooting The Legend Continues, and now she’s got another comedy up her sleeves, as he is in final talks to join the cast of New Line Cinema’s Vacation reboot, alongside Ed Helms, according to THR.

The story is essentially a hybrid of a sequel and a reboot, with Ed Helms portraying a grown-up Rusty Griswold, who takes his family on a vacation to Walley World, just like his childhood trip portrayed in 1983’s Vacation. Christina Applegate will play Rusty’s wife who may be losing interest in her husband.

Rusty Griswold was portrayed by various different actors in the original franchise, including Anthony Michael Hall in Vacation, Jason Lively in European Vacation, Johnny Galecki in Christmas Vacation, and Ethan Embry in Vegas Vacation. There’s also been talk of Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo returning for the movie, but so far this hasn’t been confirmed.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein will make their directorial debuts with the movie, working from their own screenplay. It isn’t known when shooting will begin.

Horrible Bosses Writers Directing Vacation Reboot

February 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s already tough to know how John Francis Daley manages to find the time to play Dr. Sweets on Bones and be part of an in demand writing team, along with Jonathan M. Goldstein, but now he’s going to direct a film as well. THR reports Daley and Goldstein have signed up to direct New Line Cinema’s reboot of the Vacation franchise.

The original, which starred Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron, followed the Griswold family’s cross-country drive to the Wally World theme park, which proved to be much more arduous than they’d anticipated. The reboot will centre Rusty Griswold, the son from the original film, who’s now a grown man and decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chevy Chase is expected to be a part of the film, playing his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather.

Daley and Goldstein scored a significant hit writing Horrible Bosses, and are also involved with upcoming New Line projects Horrible Bosses 2 and Burt Wonderstone.
