Director: Robert Zemeckis
Running Time: 123 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: February 1st 2016 (UK)

It’s the 1970s and Frenchman Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a small-time street entertainer in Paris, dreaming of something big. He believes that he is a wire-walking artist and that he is bigger that drawing a chalk circle and balancing a few feet off the ground.

He decides that the ‘coup’ that he must achieve is to walk between the still uncompleted Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. It is a completely crazy idea – he doesn’t even know how far apart the buildings are – but after achieving a stunt to walk between the towers of Notre Dame, he begins to put his idea into action. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi Trailer & Poster – Michael Bay takes on dramatic real-life events

November 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

13-Hours-uk-poster-slideMany people still aren’t sure that action-kingpin Michael Bay is the best man to take on the real-life events that took place in Benghazi and resulted in the death of the US ambassador. However, he’ll be hoping to prove naysayers wrong with 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi.

The film, which stars John Krasinski, Dominic Fumusa, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and Pablo Schreiber, now has a new trailer and poster , which you can watch below.

The movie is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s book, which centres on six members of a security team. After the facility came under attack from militants angered about the recently release of a trailer for an Islam-bashing film called ‘Innocence Of Muslims’ and the anniversary of 9/11. The team fought to defend the lives of the Americans in the compound, although the attack claimed the life of US Ambassador Christopher J. Stevens and a foreign service worker, while two contract workers died in a second attack at a nearby CIA facility.

It’ll be in UK cinemas on January 29th.

Stretch (Blu-ray Review)

May 31, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, jessica Alba, James Badge Dale
Director: Joe Carnahan
Running Time: 95 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 1st 2015 (UK)

Stretch is a bit of a crazy film. Indeed it’s so crazy that despite a cast full of well-known actors the studio behind it didn’t know quite what to do with it and cancelled its US cinema release just a couple of months before it was due to hit cinemas, before trying to sell it to another distributor. However, that’s a shame as while it is nuts and sometimes incredibly messy, it’s also oddly entertaining, even if you can see the studio’s point that it’s a tough film to properly market.

Patrick Wilson plays an LA limo driver whose life hasn’t turned out as he wanted – he planned to be an actor but never made it, he’s lost the love of his life and now he’s got a massive gambling debt and no time to pay it off. In the hope of getting a massive tip he takes a job driving an extremely eccentric passenger (Chris Pine), but soon finds him caught up in a situation involving foreign gangsters, the FBI, a suitcase full of cash, an asshole version of Ray Liotta (playing himself) and a psychotic tow truck driver. First Pics Of Joseph Gordon Levitt In Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk Released

August 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-walk-pic2Yesterday marked the 40th Anniversary of Phillipe Petit’s August 7th, 1974 tightrope walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center, which made it a good time for TriStar to announce that Robert Zemeckis’ film about the event – The Walk – has wrapped principal photography, and to release the first two pics (via USA Today), which you can see above and below.

The film, based on Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the young dreamer who dared the impossible: an illegal wire walk between the World Trade Center towers.

Here’s the synopsis from the official press release: ‘Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man has ever, or will ever, walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Robert Zemeckis, the director of such marvels as Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Back to the Future, Polar Express and Flight, again uses cutting edge technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. With innovative photorealistic techniques and IMAX 3D wizardry, The Walk is true big-screen cinema, a chance for moviegoers to viscerally experience the feeling of reaching the clouds. The film is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.’

Also starring in the film are James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Clément Sibony and César Domboy.

The film will be released on October 2, 2015.

James Badge Dale & Ben Kingsley Will Reach For The Clouds Alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt

April 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-badge-daleBack in January is was revealed Robert Zemeckis was working on To Reach For the Clouds, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt rumoured to star. The project is now coming together fast with the hope it will shoot this summer.

THR reports that Gordon-Levitt will indeed star and now he has some company as Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, and Charlotte Le Bon are set to join the cast.

The film will be based on the memoirs of Philippe Petit, who walked on a tightrope strung between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on August 7, 1974. Zemeckis is planning to direct from a script he is co-writing with Christopher Browne.

The actual tightrope walk won’t be featured until towards the end of the movie, with the bulk of the film looking at on how Philippe Petit and a group of friends meticulously planned what was later called the ‘artistic crime of the century.’ It took six years from conception to execution. Eventually in 1974 they snuck up to the top of the towers to string a 450-foot cable from one building to the other, using a custom-made 26-foot balancing pole. The heist elements of the story are (inevitably) being compared to Ocean’s Eleven.

A documentary about the event, Man on Wire directed by James Marsh, won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2009.

World War Z (DVD)

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Peter Capaldi, Brad Pitt
Director: Marc Forster
Running Time: 111 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: October 21st 2013

After a troubled production history, many thought World War Z would be the flop of the summer. However it became a pretty decent hit, grossing over $540 million around the world. That’s pretty impressive for a film that had to have its entire final act scrapped and a brand new one shot to replace it.

Brad Pitt plays Gerry Lane, who gets in his car one morning with his family and heads off into the city. Suddenly all hell breaks loose, as out of nowhere zombies start ravaging the streets, attacking everyone they can find and turning them into one of them. Gerry and his family manage to escape and soon learn the zombie plague has spread across the world. [Read more…]

James Badge Dale Going For A Stretch In Joe Carnahan’s Film

June 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

James-Badge-DaleJames Badge Dale’s star has slowly been rising thanks to the likes of Shame and The Grey, and this year’s he’s got the impressive trio of Iron Man 3, World War Z and The Lone Ranger. Now he’s signed up for Joe Carnahan’s new movie, Stretch, according to Variety.

The film is about a downtrodden man (Patrick Wilson) who becomes the limo driver for an eccentric billionaire (Chris Pine). What he doesn’t know is that his boss is about to make his life a living hell. As the limo drives around, what the driver doesn’t know is that the billionaire is trying to sell a list of his criminal associates to the highest bidder, which means there are some very dangerous people looking for the car. Ed Helms is also onboard to play the man’s limo driver colleague.

Unfortunately there’s no news on exactly who James Badge Dale will play. Shooting on the movie is set to begin on June 30th in LA.
