New Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer – Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia & Luke are striking back

October 10, 2017 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

We hadn’t heard about this film before, so we figure it needs every little bit of help it can get. I expect you’ll only be able to find it in tiny little art cinemas though when it’s released in December.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.

‘The film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman. J.J. Abrams, Tom Karnowski and Jason McGatlin are the executive producers.’

The Last Jedi will be in cinemas on December 14th. [Read more…]

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Behind The Scenes Look – Get your latest fix from a galaxy far, far away

July 16, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With Disney busy showing off its wares at the D23 Expo at Disneyland, one of the big things they’re hawking is, of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. To help get us excited for the next adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe, Luke Skywalker and co., a new behind-the scenes look has been released.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer – Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia & Luke are striking back

April 14, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If you were hoping for the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to give you a full rundown of the plot, you’ll be disappointed. Instead – and as most expected – it’s more about teasing the movie and getting people excited. Plot-wise, all we learn is the Rey will be practicing her Jedi skills and that the bad guys think the Jedi should end.

Nothing too surprising there then!

It does all look pretty cool though, with the return of Finn, Poe and Rey, as well as a glimpse of Leia and the voice of Luke Skywalker. There’s also plenty of drama, Kylo Ren looking suitable evil, and som spaceship action.

Take a look at the first trailer and poster below. [Read more…]

Star Wars: Episode VIII Gets Its Official Title

January 23, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems like JJ Abrams has initiated a new tradition with the fact he held off letting the world know that his Star Wars movie would be called The Force Awakens until long after production wrapped and speculation about the title had reached breaking point. Rian Johnson has followed a similar path, only now revealing that Star Wars: Episode VIII will be subtitled The Last Jedi.

That will inevitably lead to plenty of speculation about how that fits into the plot, although the most logical inference is that this means the movie more heavily leans on Luke Skywalker. However as technically Luke was never a full Jedi, there’s always a chance another Jedi Knight has survived somewhere who we’ll be introduced in the sequel (and of course that also leaves room for a few force ghosts too). Some have also speculated that it does refer to Luke, but that the fact he’s the ‘last’ means that Rey’s future is in something different that the old order of Jedi and Sith.

Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis star, with a December release date set. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we get a trailer! [Read more…]

Mark Hamill Says ‘Of Course’ Luke Skywalker Might Be Gay

March 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

luke-skywalkerWhile there’s been a lot of comment about whether Finn and Poe Dameron might end up being the Star Wars movie’s first gay couple (based on their bromance in The Force Awakens), it’s not really been mentioned that the franchise could have had a gay character long before that – Luke Skywalker. Although he was shown having some interest in Leia, before he found out she was his sister, he never really had a romance of his own, and seemed as interested in men as women.

So is he gay? Well, The Sun asked the actor who plays him, Mark Hamill, that question in the light of the fact JJ Abrams has recently said he expects there to be LGBT characters in the films in the future. Hamill says, “But now fans are writing and ask all these questions, ‘I’m bullied in school… I’m afraid to come out’.

“They say to me, ‘Could Luke be gay?’ I’d say it is meant to be interpreted by the viewer. If you think Luke is gay, of course he is. You should not be ashamed of it. Judge Luke by his character, not by who he loves.”

It’s a great way to look at it, as Luke was always designed to be an archetypal hero – someone who comes from a humble background and must work to find their destiny – and who the audience is supposed to relate to. In the past in the movies, relating to him would automatically mean he was straight, but it’s good we’ve moved past that.

However, it’s easily possible Luke isn’t completely gay, as many believe he is Rey’s father, and in books and comics he was given a wife and child (although the new movies are mainly ignoring those). We’ll have to wait and see if his sexuality is further defined in future movies.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer – Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker are back

April 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

star-wars-the-force-awakens-trailer2The first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens very deliberately avoiding showing us any of the classic Star Wars characters, despite the fact he knew the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be returning.

However for the new trailer they’ve realised that while it’s nice to see some new characters, fans also want to know things haven’t changed that much, whether it’s the look of the film doing a great job of aping previous instalments, Luke Skywalker’s voice and arm, or the big reveal at the end with Han Solo and Chewbacca.

The new trailer was launched new at today’s The Force Awakens panel at Star Wars Celebration – the Ultimate Star Wars fan experience. Fans in the U.K who were unable to attend Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California attended a live local London event hosted by Star Wars star Warwick Davis at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square.

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

The Star Wars Episode VII Cast Is Announced, Including John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis & Domhnall Gleeson

April 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-wars-episode-vii-script-readingJJ Abrams has been keeping very quiet about the cast for Star Wars Episode VII, but with the shoot starting to gear up and the likes of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher seen in London, many presumed we’d find out who would be in the film on Star Wars Day, May 4th.

However it’s come sooner that that with Lucasfilm & Disney issuing the following release: ‘The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

‘Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker in the new film.

‘Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

‘Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.’

There’s no news on who the new cast will play, although it’s believed Attack The Block’s Boyega will be a Jedi apprentice, while Girls’ Adam Driver is one of the main villains. It’s a fair bet that Andy Serkis will be playing a motion capture character, but it’s less clear what Inside Llewyn Davis’ Oscar Isaac, About Time’s Domhnall Gleeson or relative newcomer Daisy Ridley will be doing.

Along with the release came the pick above from a cast script reading.
