New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer – Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard have another dino disaster

April 22, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrived, it got a bit of a mixed reception. For everyone who thought it looked awesome, another wondered whether it was possible for a franchise to jump the shark in a promo. Now a new trailer/expanded Super Bowl Spot has arrived, which shows the movie won’t be totally crazy – although it still looks rather over the top.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful franchises in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

‘Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Pratt and Howard are joined by co-stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, while BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles.

‘Directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible), the epic action-adventure is written by Jurassic World’s director, Trevorrow, and its co-writer, Derek Connolly. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow in leading the team of filmmakers for this stunning installment. Belén Atienza joins the team as a producer.’

The movie hits cinemas in June. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Toby Jones & Rafe Spall Up For Jurassic World 2

November 9, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rafe-spallIt looks like the follow-up to the mega-hit Jurassic World is getting a bit of a British infusion, as Variety reports that Toby Jones and Rafe Spall are in talks to join the movie. While there have been no details about the plot of the movie, as they are both from the UK, it’s difficult not to speculate whether they will be relative of Jurassic Park’s founder, John Hammond, originally played by the late Richard Attenborough.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both due to return for the sequel, and it’s likely they’ll soon be joined by Spall, Jones, as well as two other actors the producers are currently testing for. J.A. Bayona is set to direct, from a script by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.

Toby Jones is known for roles such as Dr. Arnim Zola in Captain America, Claudius Templesmith in The Hunger Games and David Pilcher in Wayward Pine. Rafe Spall meanwhile is known for Prometheus, Wife Of Pi and I Want It A Year.

I Give It A Year (DVD)

June 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Rafe Spall, Rose Byrne, Anna Faris, Simon Baker, Stephen Merchant
Director: Dan Mazer
Running Time: 93 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 3rd 2013

There’s a lot of criticism that most romantic comedies just go by-the-book, presenting exactly the same story over and over again. So if a rom-com tries to do something a little different, it should be applauded. It’s just a shame that with I Give It A Year, it doesn’t really work.

As the marketing has been keen to tell us, I Give It A Year starts where other rom-coms end. After a whirlwind romance, Josh (Rafe Spall) and Nat (Rose Byrne) get married, even though many of their friends aren’t sure it’s a good match. It’s not long before the cracks begin to show, with the little niggles of their relationship becoming more and more difficult to take. [Read more…]

Life Of Pi (Cinema)

December 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Suraj Sharma, Irffan Khan, Rafe Spall, Adil Hussain, Tabu
Director: Ang Lee
Running Time: 127 mins
Certificate: PG
Release Date: December 20th 2012

Normally when a book is deemed unfilmable, it’s because it’s thought that the plot and the way it’s told would be tough to successfully transfer to the big screen. With Life Of Pi it was more due to business considerations. It’s largely a story about an Indian boy alone at sea with only a tiger for company, so any adaptation of Yann Martel’s Booker Prize winning book was bound to cost a lot to make, not least in special effects. With little room for big stars or traditional action – and just one human character for most of the running time – it was a gamble most believed no studio would take. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Life Of Pi’s Rafe Spall

December 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Rafe-Spall-Life-Of-PiIt’s been a good year for Rafe Spall. He appeared in Prometheus back in the summer and got a last minute role in Life Of Pi, after Ang Lee decided he needed to replace Tobey Maguire’s writer character and decided to hire Rafe for the job.

The son of Timothy Spall has been acting since his late teens, but he only started to get bigger and better roles in his mid 20s, after he lost a lot of the weight that he carried most of his life. Since then he’s scored parts such as playing painter William Holman Hunt in the mini-series Desperate Romantics, Ian in One Day and as a pompous, rather dim William Shakespeare in Anonymous (in that film, Shakespeare is just the public face of the plays, not the actual writer). Many also enjoyed his title role on the TV series Pete Vs. Life, where he played a character whose entire existence is observed and analysed by two sports commentators.

However what many may have missed is his sexy and sometimes very naked role in the 2006 TV movie, The Chatterley Affair. We’ve included a few screencaps from that below for your delectation. He may not be the most classically beautiful man, but Rafe is very cute and surprisingly sexy, so hopefully we’ll get to see him in many more roles. So click on the pics below to enlarge. And in perfect timing, a brand new trailer has been released for one of the films Rafe had coming next year (it reaches UK cinemas on February 8th), I Give It A Year, so you can watch that below too. I Give It A Year Trailer – Stephen Merchant turns best man

November 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first trailer for the British comedy I Give It A Year has arrived, which teams up the likes of Anna Faris, Olivia Colman, Rose Byrne, Simon Baker, Rafe Spall, Minnie Driver and Stephen Merchant, for a movie that looks at the realities, trials and tribulations of the first year of marriage. Merchant gets the plum role in this promo, giving a truly cringe-inducing best man speech, in a way only he can.

Dan Mazer makes his feature-directorial debut, having spent years writing and producing with Sasha Baron Cohen on everything from Ali G to The Dictator. The film is due to hit UK cinemas on 8th February 2013, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

And while we’re hit, why is it nearly every British comedy in the past few years seems to have been about weddings? It’s not even like they’re inherently successful, as everything from The Knot to The Wedding Video have proved. Maybe looking at the first year of marriage can broaden things out a bit.

Rafe Spall & Megan Parks Get The F Word

August 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The F Word already has Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Mackenzie Davis and Adam Driver onboard, and now Variety reports that they’ve been joined by Prometheus’ Rafe Spall and Charlie Bartlett’s Megan Parks.

Despite what you may think, the title doesn’t refer to a rude word. Daniel Radcliffe stars as Wallace, a young man who meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan) at a party where they hit it off. The problem is, Chantry has a long-term boyfriend, and the duo must navigate through a tenuous friendship (that’s the F word), while keeping their feelings at bay.

Elan Mastai (The Samaritan) wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2008 Black List, based on the play Toothpaste and Cigars by T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi. Shooting started this week in Toronto and will move on to Dublin, with Michael Dowse directing.

Anna Faris & Rose Byrne Will Give It a Year

March 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just yesterday we reported that Mentalist star Simon Baker had signed on to star opposite Rafe Spall in the romantic comedy I Give It A Year, and now they’ve got some company in the form of Anna Faris and Rose Byrne, according to Variety.

The Working Title film follows a mismatched couple (Rose Byrne and Rafe Spall) who struggle with various issues through their first year of marriage. Anna Faris and Simon Baker play strong supporting characters. although it isn’t 100% clear exactly what those roles will be.

The film is based on an original script by Dan Mazer, who will also direct, and should start shooting in the spring.
