Avengers: Age Of Utron Teaser Trailer – Heroes old and new unite

October 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-age-of-ultron-poster1We weren’t meant to get the Avengers: Age Of Utron teaser until next week, but after the trailer leaked Marvel quickly decided that rather than trying to put the genie back in the bottle they’d go with it and release official versions.

It’s certainly a big one, offering a great look at the movie, including new heroes such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, along with plenty of creepily robotic bad guys and an Iron Man who looks like tank. It also suggests things won’t go well for everyone, and that even an adamantium shield may not protect you.

And and keep an eye out for this shot:

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

‘Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on April, 2015.’ [Read more…]

Take A 1st Official Look At Ultron & Aaron Johnson’s Quicksilver From Avengers: Age Of Ultron

July 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

EW-Avengers-Age-Of-Ultron-coverIt may not be out until May 2015, but EW is getting in early with a cover for Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which gives us our first popular look at the titular villain himself – Ultron.

Along with that are a set of cool (if rather generic images), which include a good look at a hunky blond Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen and Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

The accompanying story also confirms a couple of things, including that there will multiple Ultrons, and that they are based on Tony Stark’s technology, which became corrupted and turned evil.

The magazine says, ‘For better or worse (trust us, it’s worse), his Tony Stark has devised a plan that won’t require him to put on the Iron Man suit anymore, and should allow Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk to get some much needed R&R as well. His solution is Ultron, self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark’s Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead.

‘The only problem? Ultron (played by James Spader through performance-capture technology) lacks the human touch, and his superior intellect quickly determines that life on Earth would go a lot smoother if he just got rid of Public Enemy No. 1: Human beings. “Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’” [director, Joss] Whedon says, rubbing his hands together.’

Take a look at the pics above and below. [Read more…]

Scarlett Johansson & Jonah Hill May Hail Caesar! Alongside George Clooney

July 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

SCARLETT-JOHANSSONThe Coen Brothers seems to want to fill every role in their upcoming Hail Caesar with a well-known face, as they’ve already got the likes of George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton, and now Variety reports that Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill are in talks to join them.

The 1950s set story is about a Hollywood fixer called Eddie Mannix, who works for the movie studios to help their major stars from avoiding scandals and to keep their dirty laundry under cover.

It’s now known who Jonah Hill will play, but Scarlett Johansson is playing an actress who becomes pregnant just before her latest film is about to start production. It works out as good timing for the actress, as she is pregnant herself, but as with several of the other roles in Hail Caesar!, it’s a relatively small part, so she’ll have plenty of time to complete it before she’s due to give birth.

Shooting on Hail Caesar! is set to start in a couple of months time.

With Warner Bros and Disney in a race to get their live action versions of The Jungle Book into cinema, the latter is attempting to steal a march on the former by adding Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o to join Idris Elba voicing CGI animals in the movie, according to THR.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s novel, the film follows Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by wolves, while making friend with bear Baloo and black panther Bagheera.

Scarlett Johansson is in early talks to voice Kaa, a python who eats other animals after hypnotizing them. Lupita Nyong’o is in final talks to voice Rakcha, a mother wolf who takes Mowgli in.

Idris Elba will be man-eating tiger Shere Khan, who believes that when Mowgli becomes a man he’ll bring destruction to the forest.

Jon Favreau is directing from screenplay by Justin Marks. Warner’s version meanwhile has Andy Serkis attached to direct from a script by Steve Kloves.

Scarlett Johansson is doing a great job of becoming an true action hero – something few women in Hollywood are allowed to do beyond the occasional role. Now she’s teamed up with Luc Besson for Lucy, where accidental exposure to drugs turns her into as ass-kicking machine.

‘Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

Don Jon (Blu-ray)

March 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Glenne Headley
Director: Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: March 24th 2014

Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his writing and directing debut with Don Jon and also takes the lead role – so he was certainly busy. You have to wonder whether he thought his previous movies didn’t have enough sex scenes, so he wrote himself a movie where he got loads of them, and where he also had the chance to buff up to show off a very impressive physique. (I’m sure those weren’t his motivations though). [Read more…]

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Cinema)

March 20, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson
Director: Joe Russo, Anthony Russo
Running Time: 136 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: March 26th 2014 (UK)

It’s a sign of the times that our superheroes these days are not quite all macho and invincibility, rather plagued with doubts and worries – Batman as Hamlet for example. Captain America seems to be no exception – this actioner has as many scenes with him frowning and worrying over America’s place in the world as zooming around fighting baddies. It’s still not exactly complex – at one point his pal asks, “Which ones are the bad guys” – and he answers, “If they’re shooting at you they’re the bad guys.” [Read more…]

Anthony Mackie’s Falcon Gets A Captain America: The Winter Soldier Poster

February 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

captain-america-2-poster5
A few days ago we got Captain America character posters featuring Steve Roger, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Robert Redford’s Alexander Pierce. Now it’s time for Anthony Mackie’s Falcon to get his own poster. And he’s certainly looking cool.

Sam Wilson, aka Falcon is an ex-military paratrooper who works with veterans in Washington, D.C. Secretly trained by the military in aerial combat using a specially designed wing pack, Falcon becomes an indispensable ally when he teams up with Captain America and Black Widow to run a danger-filled race to halt an impending threat in its tracks.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.’

Under The Skin Trailer – Plus a poster for the unusual Scarlett Johansson sci-fi

February 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’ve had teases before for Under The Skin, but now comes the first proper trailer for a movie which has been described as a sci-fi movie that’s like nothing you’d expect from the genre – even if the plot sounds a bit like Species.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jonathan Glazer’s third film following Sexy Beast and Birth, UNDER THE SKIN is the story of an alien in human form. Part road movie, part science fiction, part real, it’s a film about seeing our world through alien eyes.

‘Critically acclaimed at the Venice, Toronto and London film festivals, with special praise going to Mica Levi’s score, UNDER THE SKIN was shot in London and extensively on location in Scotland.

‘Glazer and Walter Campbell wrote the screenplay. Producers are James Wilson (JW Films) and Nick Wechsler (Nick Wechsler Productions). The film is based on a novel by Michel Faber. UNDER THE SKIN is a Film4 and BFI presentation, in association with Silver Reel, Creative Scotland and FilmNation Entertainment.’

It’s due out in the UK on March 14th. [Read more…]

February 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Before the Super Bowl, it was suggested there wouldn’t be that many movie ads, but in the end plenty of studio decided to flog their wares during the big game, which has resulted in a bit of a treat for movie fans.
