Grey Gardens and The Vow director Michael Sucsy has been hired to helm the novel adaptation Dare Me. Now he and Fox 2000 are looking towards casting the movie and, they want Natalie Portman. At the moment there’s no info on how interested she might be, but the studio is hoping to get her, according to Deadline.
Dare Me is based on Megan Abbott’s novel, which has been described as Heathers meets Fight Club, with a dash of Bring It On thrown in. It’s about cheerleaders Addy Hanlon and Beth Cassidy, who are the unchallenged rulers of their high school until a new coach comes into town and gives the girls an attitude adjustment. After a shocking event takes place, the local police begin an investigation involving the coach and her squad.
Portman is presumably being sought for the coach role. There’s no news on who the teens might be, or indeed when they’re hoping to shoot the movie.
