New Inferno Trailer – Tom Hanks needs to stop a Dante-inspired plague

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

inferno-slideTom Hanks and director Ron Howard are back in the world of Dan Brown adaptations, with a movie that will hopefully sort out the mess that was Inferno (and that’s coming from someone who quite enjoyed the other Robert Langdon novels). The new trailer certainly isn’t too bad though.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.’

The movie will be out in cinemas in October. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Ben Foster Will Get Villainous In Dan Brown Adaptation Inferno

March 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-fosterEver since he was a very young actor, Ben Foster has been on the edge of stardom, getting plenty of kudos but never quite breaking through into being the kind of guy who can lead a movie in his own right. He is good though, which is presumably why THR reports Ron Howard has cast him in Inferno.

It’s Howard’s third adaptation of one of Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon novels following The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. In Inferno, symbologist Robert Langdon once more get thrust into the heart of a mystery, this time revolving around medieval poet Dante Alghieri.

However to make things a little more complicated Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He has no idea what’s going on but it soon becomes clear it has something to do with a global plague, as well as artefacts to do with Dante – and he may be the only one who can stop it (and if that sounds like James Bond with a university professor, it kind of is).

Foster will be a villain lined up to stop Brown from figuring out what’s going on.

Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and Sidse Babett Knudsen also star, with shooting due to kick off fairly soon.

Omar Sy & More Join Tom Hanks In Dan Brown’s Inferno As The Main Cast Is Revealed

February 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

omar-syHaving skipped The Lost Symbol, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks are returning to Robert Langdon with Inferno, following The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. It’s been revealed that it will start shooting in April, and with that the main cast has been revealed in an official press release.

Here’s what they had to say:  ‘Director/producer Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer have cast an energetic company of some of the world’s most talented and interesting rising international stars to join Tom Hanks in Inferno, the new film in Columbia Pictures’ Robert Langdon series, which has taken in more than $1.2 billion worldwide to date.

‘The Imagine Entertainment production, which has a screenplay by David Koepp based on the book by Dan Brown, is slated for release on October 14, 2016 and will begin principal photography at the end of April. The project’s executive producers are Dan Brown, Anna Culp, Bill Connor, and David Householter.

‘Inferno continues the Harvard symbologist’s adventures on screen: when Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks, a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s “Inferno.”

‘Felicity Jones, an Oscar® nominee this year for her performance in The Theory of Everything, will star opposite Hanks as Dr. Sienna Brooks. Irrfan Khan, one of India’s biggest stars, best known for his roles in Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, and The Lunchbox, takes the role of Harry Sims, also known as The Provost. French actor Omar Sy, best known for his work in the French mega-hit The Intouchables, as well as X-Men: Days of Future Past, the upcoming Jurassic World, and John Wells’ upcoming untitled project, will play Christoph Bruder. Sidse Babett Knudsen, star of the Danish television series “Borgen,” will portray Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, the head of the World Health Organization. The filmmakers are also in talks with several other internationally recognized actors for major roles.

‘Commenting on the announcement, Howard said, “For this film, I wanted Tom Hanks to be surrounded by an international cast of actors whose energy will underscore Robert Langdon’s life-or-death peril, the high-stakes action he takes, and the global threat that he’s trying to prevent. Felicity, Irrfan, Omar, and Sidse have all broken through with recognition here in America as well as their home countries – they are phenomenal talents and we can’t wait to get started.”

‘“We’re thrilled to be making a third Robert Langdon film with Ron, Tom and Brian,” said Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group. “Inferno will deliver all of the excitement, intrigue and international adventure that audiences expect from a film based on Dan Brown’s huge selling Langdon book series. We can’t wait to see this character back on the big screen.”’

Felicity Jones Gets Caught Up With Tom Hanks In Dan Brown’s Inferno

December 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

felicity-jonesFor quite a while now Ron Howard and Tom Hanks have both been attached to a third adaptation of Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series, following Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. More recently it was revealed that they hope to start shooting next April.

However what they don’t have yet is any cast members – barring Hanks of course. That looks like it’s about to change as Felicity Jones (Theory of Everything, Amazing Spider-man 2) is in early talks to star in Inferno.

In Brown’s novel, symbologist Robert Langdon once more get thrust into the heart of a mystery, this time revolving around medieval poet Dante Alghieri.

Ron Howard is directing from a screenplay by David Koepp.

Tom Hanks & Ron Howard Head For Dan Brown’s Inferno Next April

August 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hanks-angels-and-demonsLast year Tom Hanks and Ron Howards loosely agreed to reteam for their third adaptation of one of Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon novels. While a film version of The Lost Symbol had defeated them (it’s believed the logistics of shooting in and around some of Washington DC’s most famous landmarks proved too difficult), they thought Inferno might be able to make it to the screen.

Now it seems it’s coming to fruition, as Deadline reports that the film is due to start production next April.

In Inferno, symbologist Robert Langdon once more get thrust into the heart of a mystery, this time revolving around medieval poet Dante Alghieri. However to make things a little more complicated Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He has no idea what’s going on but it soon becomes clear it has something to do with a global plague, as well as artefacts to do with Dante.

A December 18th, 2015 release has already been set.

Tom Hanks & Ron Howard Reuniting For Dan Brown’s Inferno

July 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

angels-and-demons-tom-hanksAfter Angels & Demons, plans were made to turn Dan Brown’s next Robert Langdon novel, The Lost Symbol, into a movie. However it now appears they’re jumping over that one and going straight to the recently released Inferno, with Deadline reporting that Tom Hanks and Ron Howard are both set to return for the movie. A December 18, 2015 release date is already set.

Tom Hanks is reprising his Robert Langdon role from The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, with Ron Howard directing from an adapted screenplay by David Koepp (Spider-man, Jurassic Park).

Here’s the official description of the novel from Dan Brown’s website: ‘In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces… Dante’s Inferno.

‘Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust… before the world is irrevocably altered.’

Presumably it was thought that The Lost Symbol, which is set amongst some of Washington’s most iconic buildings, would be too difficult to make, but that Inferno will be possible.

Adam Goldberg Goes Porn Star In Inferno

January 4, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The battle of the Linda Lovelace biopics is really gearing up, with two films based on the story going head-to-head. One of them, Lovelace, is already shooting with Amanda Seyfried in the central role, while the other, Inferno, starring Malin Akerman, starts filming very soon.

Just yesterday it was revealed that Adam Brody would star as hardcore porn actor and Linda Lovelace’s Deep Throat co-star Harry Reems in Lovelace. Now Variety reports that the Inferno has cast its Reems in the form of Adam Goldberg. While generally it’s been the cast of Lovelace that’s been stronger, Goldberg is definitely better for the slightly kooky looking Reems, who isn’t exactly what you think of when you imagine a porn star.

Matthew Wilder will direct Inferno from his own screenplay, based on Linda’s 1980 memoir, ‘Ordeal: An Autobiography,’ which she wrote with Mike McGrady. Lovelace became world famous in 1972 following the massive success of Deep Throat but renounced her pornography career in ‘Ordeal’ and alleged that it had been forced upon her by pornographer husband Chuck Traynor, who will be played by Matt Dillon.
