Aronofsky Eyeing Russell Crowe & Liam Neeson For Noah

February 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While Darren Aronofsky has wanted to make a big budget film version of the Noah story for years, it’s only recently there’s been enough interest in Hollywood in biblical epics that he’ managed to get some real movement on the project.

Christian Bale was offered the title role in Noah, but he apparently it down, so now Deadline reports Aronofsky is looking to get Russell Crowe onto the ark.

The original story follows Noah, who God believe is a man who’s “righteous in his generation,” and so gives him detailed instructions on how to construct a ark, which will save him and wo of every animal when a massive deluge comes to wipe out the rest of mankind.

No deals have been made, but the director is hoping to bring on the Oscar-winning actor to play the title role in the New Regency/Paramount film. He is also eyeing Liam Neeson for another undetermined role, believed to be a human antagonist to Noah, who believes the man’s ark building mania is completely nutty (which to be honest, as an outside observer would be a fair position to hold – until it starts raining, of course).

It isn’t certain when Noah might shoot.

Bale Bails Out Of Noah, But Fassbender May Be In

December 1, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Back in June it was revealed that director Darren Aronofsky wanted Christian Bale to star in his Biblical epic Noah, although since then we haven’t heard much more about casting on the movie. However, now Deadline reports that Christian Bale has passed on the movie, while Variety adds that Michael Fassbender is being eyed to star.

It seems Fassbender hasn’t officially been offered the role yet, although he has discussed the project with Darren Aronofsky. A space has opened up in Fassbender’s diary as while he was in talks to star in Londongrad, that project has been severely delayed, due to director Rupert Wyatt having to concentrate on another Planet of The Apes movie before he can shoot anything else.

With financing now in place, the plan is to start shooting Noah next Spring, although they’ll need to get the title character cast well before then.
