Tiger Orange Trailer – Gay porn star Frankie Valenti (aka Johnny Hazzard) goes legit with an LGBT-themed tale of sibling rivalry

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Frankie Valenti (Johnny Hazzard) in TIGER ORANGEBack in April 2013 we posted info on the KickStarter campaign for a movie going by the title Where We Belong, which was due to mark the legit debut of gay adult film star Johnny Hazzard (aka Frankie Valenti).

Since that successful campaign the film has been completed and has a new name – Tiger Orange – but Valenti still stars, with Wade Gasque directing.

The film is gearing up for its World Premiere as part of LA’s Outfest on Friday, July 18th, 8:30pm at the Ford, and ahead of that a festival trailer for the movie has been released, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Two estranged gay brothers attempt to make amends in Wade Gasque’s charming small-town drama. Set against the sun-kissed fields of Central  California, and anchored by strong performances from Mark Strano and pornstar-turned-leading man Frankie Valenti (aka Johnny Hazzard), TIGER ORANGE pits two diametric opposites against each other – the closeted introvert versus the out-and-proud hunk. The result is a blunt, playful meditation on queer sibling rivalry and the childhood bonds that force us together.’ [Read more…]

Pride Trailer – It’s Gay-Straight culture clash for Imelda Staunton, Andrew Scott, Paddy Considine and Dominic West

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pride-new-slideAfter a great response at Cannes – where it won the Queer Palm – the Brit flick Pride is heading for a September 12th UK release. We had a clip a few weeks ago, but now the full trailer has arrived (watch it below), showcasing this film about two very different groups of people wanting to support the same cause.

Based on a true story, Pride is set during the summer of 1984, with Margaret Thatcher in power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on strike. At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. But there is a problem. The Union seems embarrassed to receive their support.

But the activists are not deterred. They decide to ignore the Union and go direct to the miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini bus to make their donation in person. This brings together two seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant partnership. But as you can see in the trailer, it’s not initially an easy alliance.

The likes of Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Andrew Scott and Paddy Considine star, with Tony Award-winning theatre director Matthew Warchus making his feature helming debut with the movie. [Read more…]

The Skeleton Twins Trailer – A gay Bill Hader & a straight Kristen Wiig are estranged siblings

June 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

skeleton-twinsIf you heard that SNL alums Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader were starring in a movie together, you’d expect zany comedy to ensue. And if you heard Hader was playing a gay character, you might have visions of his outrageously camp SNL character, Stefan.

However The Skeleton Twins is a lot more dramatic than you might expect, even if they haven’t completely given up on the comedy.

they play Maggie (Wiig) and Milo (Hader), who are twins who went their separate ways years ago, but when they coincidentally cheat death on the same day, the shock makes them reunite and figure out how their lives went wrong. Maggie starts to re-examine her marriage to nature-loving slacker Lance (Luke Wilson), while the gay Milo goes to visit old flame Rich (Ty Burrell).

The film is due in cinemas later this year, but take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

June 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Such-Good-People-slideBack in late 2012 we covered the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the gay-themed rom-com, Such Good People. It’s taken a while but the film is now in the can and we’ve got a trailer, which you can see below.

The great cast also includes the likes of Scott Wolf, Ana Ortiz, James Urbaniak, Drew Droege, Tom Lenk, Lance Bass and Alec Mapa.

I Am Happiness On Earth Trailer – Sexuality becomes fluid in the upcoming LGBT-themed film

June 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I-Am-Happiness-On-Earth2Normally you’d hope a synopsis for a movie would give you an idea of what it’s about, but for I Am Happiness Of Earth, you’ll have to rely on the trailer.

In case you’re wondering why, here is that synopsis: ‘Emiliano looks at his life with the eyes of a film director, mixing the objective reality with the processes of the artistic creation. The story he is filming flounders with his daily life, until his world is trapped in the lens of his camera. Confused, always alone and in front of a screen, now become a transfigured reality, but at the same time a measurable, controllable and manipulable one, he listens in loop to a song: one of those songs you sing or repeat as a prayer and forcing you to remember, believe and convince yourself.’

If you are wondering what it’s about, in basic terms it’s the erotic story of a filmmaker and a dancer, and how the flirtation between then affects both men.

The film comes from Julian Hernandez, who impressed a few years ago with Broken Sky.

The movie screened yesterday at the San Francisco’s Frameline LGBT film festival. A DVD/VoD release is set for August 11th in the UK and August 19th in the US. [Read more…]

Love Or Whatever HOT Teaser – There sure are some good looking guys in the upcoming gay rom-com

June 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

love-or-whatever-slideA couple of months ago we posted the trailer for Love Or Whatever, but it seems the makers weren’t sure everyone was aware just what measure of hotness and shirtlessness the movie will feature. As a result they’ve come up with a ‘HOT Bonus Teaser Trailer’, dedicated to the film’s talent.

And we have to agree, there does appear to be plenty of hotness on display!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Corey had it all – a successful career, bags of charm and, most of all, a bright future with his boyfriend. But, when his other half commits the ultimate betrayal and dumps him for a woman, he embarks upon a wild journey of self-discovery. Soon, he meets a potentially perfect new guy but first he needs to make some life-changing choices. Sexy and genuinely funny (including a hilarious star turn from “The Brady Bunch Movie’s” Jennifer Elise Cox), “Love or Whatever” is the freshest, funniest gay comedy around.’

It’s due out in the UK in July. [Read more…]

Broken Heart Land Trailer – The journey to becoming LGBT advocates after losing a gay son

June 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

broken-heart-landOn an early autumn afternoon, gay teen Zack Harrington killed himself with a gunshot to the head in his parent’s ranch in Norman, Oklahoma. One week earlier, Zack allegedly attended a local city council meeting in support of a proposal for LGBTQ History Month. When the floor opened up for public comment, some community members made highly controversial statements equating being gay with the spread of diseases such as HIV and AIDS.

Against the backdrop of a town bitterly divided on the issue of homosexuality, Zack’s parents, both conservative Republicans and military veterans, are forced to reconcile their own social and political beliefs with their son’s death. Determined to understand him, they discover a diary, which paints a portrait of a boy in crisis, and a chilling secret that Zack kept hidden for almost two years. It leads them to some painful conclusions about their son’s life and death.

When an outspoken conservative citizen runs for City Council, the Harringtons decide to join the politically active group, “MOMS: Mothers of Many.” Over the course of the local election season, witness Zack’s family, once private and politically conservative, come out of their own closet, moving from private denial to a climactic and very public acceptance of their son’s legacy.

Broken Heart Land will air online in the US on June 24 on World Channel’s America Reframed program, as well as on select PBS channels. You can also visit brokenheartland.com for more information.

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Love Is Strange Trailer – John Lithgow and Alfred Molina deal with life after gay marriage

June 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

love-is-strange-slideJohn Lithgow and Alfred Molina are getting married – on-screen at least. Love Is Strange debuted at Sundance to largely positive reviews, but it’s only now that we get our first looked at the gay-themed film from Ira Sachs, the director of Keep The Lights On.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After 39 years together, Ben and George finally tie the knot in an idyllic wedding ceremony in lower Manhattan. But when news of their marriage reaches the Catholic school where George works, he is fired from his longtime job, and the couple can no longer afford their New York City apartment. As a temporary solution, George moves in with the two gay cops next door, while Ben moves to Brooklyn to live with his nephew, Eliot; Eliot’s wife, Kate; and their teenage son. As Ben and George struggle to secure a new apartment, the pain of living apart and their presence in two foreign households test the resilience and relationships of all involved.

‘Propelled by exquisite performances from John Lithgow as Ben and Alfred Molina as George, with robust support from Marisa Tomei, Darren Burrows, and young Charlie Tahan, this subtle, yet profound, drama is suffused with gentle humor. From distinguished Festival veteran Ira Sachs (Forty Shades of Blue won the Grand Jury Prize in 2005, and Keep the Lights On played in the U.S. Dramatic Competition in 2012), Love Is Strange will shake audience members to their cores.’

A limited US cinema release is planned for August 22nd. [Read more…]

Romeo & Romeo Trailer – The high and lows of love and life for a young gay rocker

June 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac 4 Comments

romeo-and-romeoHow do you get a trailer before a film has been shot? It’s actually more common than you might expect, as it’s a great way to drum up interest, especially if the plan is to get the film in the can and onto screens as quickly as possible.

The trailer above for the upcoming gay-themed film Romeo & Romeo gives us a taste of the movie, which should shoot this summer ready for a planned premiere by December!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Zak Lawson was a pop star who came out of nowhere, and reached the top of the billboard charts at the age of 14. He met bad boy Trent at the peak of his career, bad news. Trent dragged Zak down a road full of drugs and alcohol. He spiralled out of control, and his career was over. Years later Zak faces the past head on, finding out buried secrets which test his sobriety.’

At the moment Tyler Bradley is going to be very busy, playing the lead role, co-writing the script, producing and directing the film. You can find out more about the movie on its Facebook page. [Read more…]

Learn To Body Roll With The Male Strippers From Joe Manganiello’s La Bare

June 15, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

la-bare-biggerJoe Manganiello likes male strippers, or at least he became fascinated with them after Magic Mike,  to the point where he’s made his directorial debut with a documentary about them. The film is due to debut in the US later this month, and to get us in the mood a new clip has been released where we get to find out how to do the body roll.

You can take a look at that below, but be prepared to have a hot flush! Unfortunately I don’t think I’d look as sexy if I tried to do it.

la-bare-body-roll

Manganiello said of the film at its Slamdance premiere, “I had zero interest in male stripping prior to Magic Mike. As a straight male, I had a lot of misperceptions about the industry. People would walk out of Magic Mike saying  ’I loved it but I wish there was more of the guys. I wish I knew more about them, where they live, who they go out with, what their lives are like.’ So I knew there was a lot left on the table.”

And part of what was left of the table was apparently the subtle art of the body roll.

The movie has a US debut set for June 27th. [Read more…]
