There are wedding bells in the air for Kit Williamson, the actor who played Ed Gifford in Mad Men and also stars in and created the popular web series turned Logo TV show, Eastsiders. He has announced his engagement to his longtime boyfrined, John Halbach.
Eastsiders fans may recognise Halbach, who co-stars alongside Williamson in the show.
Kit announced the news in a statement, saying, “We’ve been together for more than eight years. We kind of resisted marriage at first because we were already committed to one another, but all the progress that’s happened over the last few years, and the likelihood of a favorable Supreme Court ruling in June, has made us really think about what marriage means to us and our relationship. To deny our right to get married is to deny our relationship’s validity.
“It amazes me to think that my Mad Men character, Ed Gifford, would not have been able to legally marry a non-Caucasian woman in Mississippi before 1967. It wasn’t until Loving v. Virginia that the Supreme Court ruled state bans on interracial marriage violated the constitution. We all have a right to love, a right to happiness, and a right to find a partner in life.”
No date has been set and the couple haven’t quite decided where to marry yet, as they’re deciding between LA, New York or perhaps somewhere more exotic.

San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair is one of those things that many of us have heard of, but the closest most of us are likely to have gotten were the scenes in the first season of Looking, or certain naughty videos that pop up online from the goings on there.
The gay internet got very excited a couple of days ago when it was revealed that
In the last few years the X-Men comics have been fairly LGBT inclusive, but the gay or bisexual characters have all been characters only fans would know well. However that’s now changed as leaked pages from the latest issue of All-New X-Men reveals that Bobby ‘Iceman’ Drake is gay.
There’s a ot of momentum behind marriage equality in the US, but that has inevitably resulted in a harsh (and sometimes nastily petty) backlash from some conservatives, such as Indiana’s so-called ‘Religious Freedom’ laws, and the fact more anti-LGBT legislation has been proposed in Texas this year than ever before.
Like it or loathe it, Will & Grace was an important series in terms of gay representation on the screen, which proved that the world could accept a show with gay lead characters and follow it for long enough that it would be a major success.
Since Jonathan Groff came out a few years ago his on-screen career has flourished, whether it’s as Patrick in Looking or as Kristoff in Frozen. However while he has an up and comer in New York, forging his career on the stage, he was in the closet and admits he was afraid of what revealing his sexuality might mean to both his life and his career.
We could almost cut and paste the story we wrote last year about GLAAD’s annual Studio Responsibility Index, as the 2015 edition suggests that despite great strides being made on TV, in Hollywood films LGBT representation has barely changed at all.
Karate Kid and After Earth star Jaden Smith may only be 16-years-old but he’s keen to show that he has little time for the sort of gender norms that many less enlightened people seem to be are immutable part of the universe.
