The Whole Truth Trailer – Keanu Reeves tries to keep Renée Zellweger’s son out of jail

September 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

whole-truth-slideKeanu Reeves has been in dark action/thriller mode for the last couple of years, but now he’s heading into the courtroom to play a lawyer. The film also features Renée Zellweger, showing she’s now just returning to the world of movies for Bridget Jones movies.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) takes on a personal case when he swears to his widowed friend, Loretta Lassiter (Renée Zellweger), that he will keep her son Mike (Gabriel Basso) out of prison. Charged with murdering his father, Mike initially confesses to the crime. But as the trial proceeds, chilling evidence about the kind of man that Boone Lassiter (Jim Belushi) really was comes to light. While Ramsay uses the evidence to get his client acquitted, his new colleague Janelle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) tries to dig deeper – and begins to realize that the whole truth is something she alone can uncover.’

The film will be out in the US in October. No UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Angela Lansbury Sings Beautiful Live Rendition Of Beauty & The Beast To Mark The Film’s 25th Anniversary

September 20, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

angela-lansbury-beauty-and-the-beastThere aren’t many 90-year-olds who are still working, and who can sing a song as well as they did decades before. But then, Angela Lansbury isn’t your ordinary woman.

Lansbury surprised a special 25th Anniversary screening of Beauty And The Beast at New York City’s Lincoln Center with a live rendition of the title song. Composer Alan Menken was at the piano and together they create a moment where it’s difficult not to be very jealous of those who saw it live.

Of course, we’re getting plenty more Beauty & The Beast soon, with Bill Condon directing a live-action version of classic Disney animated movie, complete with the classic songs and some new tunes too. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens are playing the title roles, with Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Luke Evans and Josh Gad also appearing. It’ll be out next year.

Take a look at Angela Lansbury’s performance below. [Read more…]

Daniel Radcliffe Frustrated Gay Actors Can’t Come Out In Hollywood For Fear Of Typecasting

September 20, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

daniel-radcliffe-what-ifDaniel Radcliffe certainly hasn’t hidden his support for the LGBT community, standing up to use his fame to speak out as well as help raise money for the likes of The Trevor Project. However, he’s also aware that within his own industry, there’s still a long way to go for true equality.

On the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show, he was asked why he thought so few actors have come out. He answered, “I suppose because, then, people just want to cast you as gay.”

He added, “There’s very few [openly gay actors], well, Neil Patrick Harris has made a career out of playing the straightest guy on television, which is fantastic. But in film, yeah, it’s sad, because, again, we’re in this industry that likes to see itself as being totally progressive and liberal, but there is a line where people go, ‘Oh no, people won’t buy him as straight anymore’.”

Rumours suggest there are still quite a few well-known names in Hollywood who aren’t open about their true sexuality, with many agents unafraid to pressure their clients to keep quiet for fear telling the truth will limit their career. It’s also been suggested there an extra difficulties for even those in the closet, with studio execs worried about the effect on the box office if their sexuality became public, and so they’d prefer not to take the ‘risk’.

Radcliffe is currently promoting Imperium, in which he plays an FBI agent who goes undercover into a white supremacist group.

passengers-poster-slideAlongside Arrival, Passengers is this autumn’s other most intriguing looking sci-fi movie. The trailer for the film has not arrived, which you can take a look at below.

The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.’

First Pic From Jumanji Reboot Arrives With Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black & Karen Gillan

September 20, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jumanji-remake-pic1While some still aren’t sure whether Jumanji needs a reboot, it’s getting one and it’s now is production. Kevin Hart has posted the first image from the movie, which features the comedian alongside co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black & Karen Gillan.

It’s not known exactly how this reboot will handle the story, but it will still be based around the basic concept of a board game where what happens in the game also happens in real life, which causes havoc when the jungle starts to erupt into reality. Those involved have been keen to say that the movie will be respectful to the Robin Williams film, and that it is likely to take place in the same universe, rather than being a complete restart.

The new picture suggests the film may spend much of its time in the Jumanji jungle world, with the characters getting stuck inside the game and needing to get out. It’ll be in cinemas next year.

Jamie Dornan May Be Will Scarlett In Robin Hood: Origins

September 20, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

jamie-dornan-ELLE-slideIt looks like Jamie Dornan is heading from the Red Room to Sherwood Forest, as Variety reports that he’s in talks to play Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Origins. If he does sign on, he’ll join Taron Egerton in the title role, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, and Jamie Foxx as Little John.

As the title suggests the movie will be about the legendary character’s early days. However it’s not going back too far, as it’s previously been reported that here Robin ‘returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.’

Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) is set to direct from a script by Joby Harold. It’s expected the film will be released next year, with hopes it can become a franchise.

Tom Of Finland Teaser – First look at the biopic of the famed gay erotic artist

September 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-of-finland-teaserAfter a couple of years where duelling biopics of Tom Of Finland were vying to get made, one has moved forward. The first teaser for the movie about the artist, known for his images of musclebound and, err, well-endowed men in homoerotic poses, has arrived.

Born Touko Laaksonen, Tom Of Finland’s stylised images of hunky men with massive bulges, often wearing leather and/or uniforms, became iconic in the gay community. His popularity was initially helped by the fact that while many countries in the 1950s and 1960s saw photographs of naked and near-naked men as pornography, drawn pictures were classed as art and so Tom Of Finland’s images became extremely popular.

Despite the homophobic era his art came from, his stature has grown over the years to the point where the likes of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) hold his images. The movie follow Laaksonen’s story, after he returns from the war to discover civilian life for a gay man is a battlefield in its own right. He finds refuge in his art.

Finnish and Swedish director Dome Karukoski directs the movie from a script by Aleksi Bardy. It should arrive in cinemas next year. [Read more…]

Nocturnal Animals Trailer – Amy Adams & Jake Gyllenhaal star in Tom Ford’s film

September 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amy-adams-nocturnal-animalsTom Ford’s movie Nocturnal Animals has been getting good reviews at film festivals, and it won’t be too long until we’ll get to see the movie for ourselves. To whet our appetites, a teaser trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From writer/director Tom Ford comes a haunting romantic thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension that explores the thin lines between love and cruelty, and revenge and redemption. Academy Award nominees Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a divorced couple discovering dark truths about each other and themselves in “Nocturnal Animals.”

‘Susan Morrow, a Los Angeles art dealer (portrayed by Ms. Adams), lives an incredibly privileged yet unfulfilled life with her husband Hutton Morrow (Armie Hammer). One weekend, as Hutton departs on one of his too-frequent business trips, Susan receives an unsolicited package that has been left in her mailbox. It is a novel, Nocturnal Animals, written by her ex-husband Edward Sheffield (Mr. Gyllenhaal), with whom she has had no contact for years. Edward’s note accompanying the manuscript encourages Susan to read the work and then to contact him during his visit to the city. Alone at night, in bed, Susan begins reading. The novel is dedicated to her…

…but its content is violent and devastating. While Susan reads, she is deeply moved by Edward’s writing and cannot help but reminisce over the most private moments from her own love story with the author. Trying to look within herself and beyond the glossy surface of the life and career that she has made, Susan increasingly interprets the book as a tale of revenge, a tale that forces her to re-evaluate the choices that she has made, and re-awakens a love that she feared was lost – as the story builds to a reckoning that will define both the novel’s hero and her own.’ [Read more…]

The film marks the directorial debut of the veteran cinematographer.
