Sean Hayes Marries Partner Scott Icenogle

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sean-hayes-wedding-picHe’s ‘Just Jack’ no longer.

Only a couple of months ago it was revealed that Sean Hayes was probably an engaged man after he was spotted wearing a ring, however at the time his reps said, “Sean Hayes and Scott Icenogle have been together for eight years. They are not yet married but they have been engaged for quite some time.”

The ‘not yet married’ hasn’t lasted long, as it’s been revealed, as Hayes announced via Twitter that, ‘Here’s a #TBT photo of @scotticenogle and me getting married last week. Took us 8 years but we did it!’

It’s a very casual announcement for a big milestone in his life. It would probably have been better for him if the sitcom he’s recently been appearing in, The Millers, hadn’t been cancelled in the same week as he married though.

We wish both him and Scott extremely well! [Read more…]

Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer – Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson & co. are back, pitches

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pitch-perfect-2-poster-slideThe ladies of a cappella return next year with Pitch Perfect 2, and after the poster a couple of days ago comes the trailer, which throws us back into world of major modern hits being given a great harmonious makeover.

The stakes are also raised with Anna Kendrick and co. heading off to the world a cappella championships – which seem far bigger and more rock ‘n’ roll that you might expect. It’s also great to see Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy back in action, and it looks like she’ll be just as much fun this time around.

Along with returning stars such as Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow and Elizabeth Banks, Hailee Steinfeld joins the ranks, with the actress said to have come on board in preparation with a possible Pitch Perfect 3.

The film hits cinemas next spring. [Read more…]

Brad Pitt Producing Sci-Fi Survival Thriller Alpha

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

brad-pittBrad Pitt has got his producer hat on once again – a job he’s had great success with, including winning him a Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years A Slave – as he and his Plan B production company have signed up to develop sci-fi thriller Alpha.

Canadian filmmaker Anthony Scott Burns will make his feature directorial debut with the movie, which is based on a story and script by Robopocalypse author Daniel H. Wilson. Burns came to Hollywood’s attention after released a fan-made trailer entitled Tron Destiny, and a short film entitled Manifold (you can watch those here).

Not much is known about the plot, except that the plot will be a sci-fi survival tale that has been compared to the works of Jack London (White Fang). It’s not clear at the moment whether Pitt is viewing this as a potential movie to star or if he’ll just produce.

Bryce Dallas Howard Wanted For Pete’s Dragon Remake

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bryce-dallas-howardDisney is slowly piecing together it’s remake of Pete’s Dragon, with Robert Redford already in talks and young Oakes Fegley due to play Pete. Now another actor is being eyed, as Bryce Dallas Howard may be the female lead, according to Variety.

It’s not known exactly who Bryce Dallas Howard would play. She could be a character similar to Nora (Helen Reddy) from the original Pete’s Dragon, although the plot of the remake is rather different so she could be someone very different.

This time around the dragon with be CGI, and the story will also be rather different (it also won’t be a musical). This time around Pete was raised in a forest by the dragon after his parents died in a car accident. He has to take on a group of loggers who are cutting down all of the trees.

Redford will play a local who tells tall tales involving dragons that no one believes, the equivalent of Mickey Rooney’s Lampie from the original. If Howard is playing a Nora-like character, that would mean she is his daughter, although that’s certainly not clear at the moment.

David Lowery is directing from a script he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks.

Melissa McCarthy Will Be A Live Action Tinker Bell For Director Shawn Levy

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

melissa-mccarthyDisney even surprised itself with how successful its Disney Fairies franchise has been, with annual movies (which were originally designed to go straight to DVD but have been popular enough that many have now had cinema releases) and a merchandising bonanza.

However it looks like they might be getting a bit of competition, although it’s likely to be rather different to what Disney has produced. Deadline reports that Melissa McCarthy is attached to star in a live action Tinker Bell comedy project for 20th Century Fox and director Shawn Levy.

McCarthy and Levy came up with the fresh take on the Tinker Bell story, and then brought Nick Stoller (Neighbors, The Five-Year Engagement, Get Him to the Greek) to come up with the screenplay. it’s not clear what the new take will be, although it’s presumed this will be a rather different Tink to the one we’re used to.

At the moment it’s also not clear when this might go in front of the camera.

Andrew Garfield Is Going To Hacksaw Ridge, With Mel Gibson Likely To Direct

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Andrew-GarfieldAre we due for another Mel Gibson meltdown? Last time he decided enough time has passed for him to be allowed to move back into the public eye (admittedly the world didn’t end when he appeared in Expendables 3), he had another very public scandal that meant he had to go back into hiding again. He’ll be hoping that doesn’t happen again.

Now he’s in talks to direct his first film since Apocalypto eight years ago, Hacksaw Ridge, with Andrew Garfield in talks to star, according to Deadline.

The movie based on the true story of Desmond T. Doss, who despite being a conscientious objector during World War II he managed to win the Congressional Medal of Honor (the first conscientious objector to do so). Doss refused to kill enemy soldiers but still served as a Army medic during the Battle of Okinowa.

In 1945 President Harry S. Truman gave him the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1945 for saving so many lives. Hacksaw Ridge refers to the location of a brutal two-week stretch of the Battle of Okinawa, where American troops fought Japanese soldiers on rocky cliffs.

The fact Deadline suggest that negotiations with Gibson are “moving forward delicately and slowly”, suggests there are plenty of issues to iron out, not least of which will be the backers seeking assurances that their won’t be another implosion that could affect the film.

Matt Smith Will Look For Patient Zero In A Zombie Thriller

November 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-smithWe’re still waiting to see if Doctor Who star Matt Smith can successfully segue into the movies, but with Lost River, Terminator: Genisys and Pride & Prejudice & Zombies coming up, he’s certainly got a good shot. Now he’s added another movie to the mix, as Deadline reports that he has signed on to star in the Screen Gems zombie thriller Patient Zero, alongside Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer.

The action-thriller takes place in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic where an enhanced strain of rabies turns humans into violent, zombie-like creatures. The movie itself is about a man who is somehow immune to this disease, and also mysteriously has the ability to communicate to communicate with the infected. He leads a quest to find Patient Zero, in hopes of finding a cure to save his wife and the rest of humanity.

Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters, Deadfall) is set to direct from a screenplay by Mike Le (W.M.D.). It’s not clear when it will shoot.

Cinderella Trailer – Kenneth Branagh takes on Disney’s fairytale with Lily James & Richard Madden

November 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cinderella-pic1-slideDisney had a major success with Maleficent and will be hoping for similar with 2015’s Cinderella. Now the first trailer has arrived which suggests this will be a more traditional fairy tale adaptation, with director Kenneth Branagh seemingly trying to literally bring a Disney animated movie to life (although it’s obviously not a perfect recreation of the Cinderella cartoon).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually-dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.

‘The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.’

The movie is due out on March 27th, 2015. Take a look at the trailer and poster below. [Read more…]
