All I See Is You Trailer – Blake Lively regains her sight & things get psychosexual

October 16, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Despite the success of World War Z, reports of major problems on the set certainly hit his reputation. Now he’s returned with something rather different and on a smaller scale than either World War Z or Forster’s James Bond movie that preceded it, Quantum Of Solace.

Here’s the synopsis of All I See If You: ‘Gina is a beautiful young woman who’s still haunted by the accident that took her sight years earlier. Living in Bangkok with her husband, James, she undergoes a cutting-edge operation that restores the vision to her right eye. Now that Gina can see again, she slowly starts to realize that her newfound independence makes James feel jealous, threatened and insecure.’

Blake Lively, Jason Clarke, Yvonne Strahovski, Danny Huston, Ahna O’Reilly and Wes Chatham star. It’s due out in the US on October 27th. No UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Blake Lively Will Be An Assassin In A New Movie From The Producers Of James Bond

July 13, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There have been rumours recently that the producers behind James Bond have been looking at the possibility of building a 007 interconnected universe, with spin-off film that don’t centre on the super-spy himself. That’s included suggestions they’d like to make a female-driven film as part of that expansion.

While not a Bond-related movie, the 007 makers Eon Productions are dipping their toes in the female-action waters with Blake Lively playing an assassing a spy thriller directed by Reed Morano (The Haindmaid’s Tale), with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli production, according to Variety.

The movie will be called The Rhythm Section, ‘a contemporary adaptation of the first of Burnell’s “Stephanie Patrick” British series of four novels. Lively will play the titular heroine, who’s on a path to self-destruction after the death of her family in an airplane crash – a flight that she was meant to be on. After discovering that the crash wasn’t an accident, her anger awakens a new sense of purpose as she becomes an assassin to track down those responsible.’

Broccoli and Wilson comment, “We are thrilled to be bringing Mark Burnell’s ‘The Rhythm Section’ to the big screen with our partners at IM Global. It is exciting for us to be working with the immensely talented team of director Reed Morano and actress who have a strong vision for this very compelling story driven by a female protagonist.”

The current plan is to start shooting this autumn in the US, UK, Ireland, Spain, and Switzerland.

Anna Kendrick & Blake Lively To Star In A Simple Favor For Paul Feig

June 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Despite the success of the likes of Bridemaids, The Heat & Spy, Paul Feig took a lot of heat for the relative failure of last year’s Ghostbusters. However, he’s not going sticking with comedy for his next movie, as he’s planning a thriller called A SImple Favor, according to Deadline.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are already in talks to star in the movie, which Feig is writing himself, based on the book of the same name by author Darcey Bell. Here’s the synopsis: ‘It starts with a simple favor—an ordinary kindness mothers do for one another. When her best friend, Emily, asks Stephanie to pick up her son Nicky after school, she happily says yes. Nicky and her son, Miles, are classmates and best friends, and the five-year-olds love being together—just like she and Emily. A widow and stay-at-home mommy blogger living in woodsy suburban Connecticut, Stephanie was lonely until she met Emily, a sophisticated PR executive whose job in Manhattan demands so much of her time.

‘But Emily doesn’t come back. She doesn’t answer calls or return texts. Stephanie knows something is terribly wrong—Emily would never leave Nicky, no matter what the police say. Terrified, she reaches out to her blog readers for help. She also reaches out to Emily’s husband, the handsome, reticent Sean, offering emotional support. It’s the least she can do for her best friend…

‘Soon, Stephanie will begin to see that nothing—not friendship, love, or even an ordinary favor—is as simple as it seems.’

The plan is to start shooting in August, for release next year.

Cafe Society (DVD Review)

December 27, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Blake Lively, Jesse Eisenberg, Ken Stott, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell
Director: Woody Allen
Running Time: 94 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: December 26th 2016 (UK)

We’ve long reached the point when a new Woody Allen movie isn’t something to get excited about anymore, but it’s also certainly not something to dread either. This year he returns with Café Society, another Allen movie we can add to his recent list of his films that are decent enough, but nothing particularly special.

The director is not on-screen this time (although he does narrate), with Jesse Eisenberg stepping in to be Café Society’s 1930s Woody surrogate, a young Jewish New Yorker called Bobby, who’s a bit lost in life and so decides to head to LA. His Uncle Phil (Steve Carell) is a high-powered movie agent who Bobby hopes can help him get his start. Phil hires Bobby to do odd jobs, which brings him into the sphere of Vonnie (Kristen Stewart). The Shallows (DVD Review)

December 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Blake Lively, Oscar Jaenada, Angelo Josue Lozano Corzo, Brett Cullen
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra
Running Time: 86 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: December 5th 2016 (UK)

Nancy (Blake Lively) is feeling a bit lost in life and is considering dropping out of medical school. She heads off on her own to a secret Mexican beach that had special significance to her dead mother. After spending some time surfing, she discovers the bay is hiding the enormous body of a dead whale.

That’s not all that’s lurking either, as she is attacked by a great white shark, but manages to escape onto a rocky outcrop. She’s only a few hundred metres offshore, but with a gash in her leg that will attract the shark back, it doesn’t seem there will be any way to get back to the beach. It also becomes increasingly apparent that the cartilaginous fish isn’t going to give up. [Read more…]

New The Shallows Trailer – A shark really wants to eat Blake Lively

May 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

shallows-trailer-slidePoor old sharks – they’re just hungry or curious, and we make such a fuss when they try to eat us. The latest to start whining when a large fish wants to bite her is Blake Lively in The Shallows, which has just dropped its first trailer.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘A young Woman who is dealing with the recent death of her mother is surfing on an isolated beach and gets stranded 20 yards off shore on a buoy. What lies between her and the shore is a huge great white shark.’

I’m not entirely sure that when a shark is trying to eat you it makes much different if your mother died recently or not, but I’m sure it’s very important in the world of metaphor. The movie will be in cinemas in July. [Read more…]

Cafe Society Trailer – Jesse Eisenberg & Kristen Stewart star in Woody Allen’s latest

April 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cafe-society-slideEven when Woody Allen doesn’t star in his own movies, there tends to be a stand-in for him, and it has to be said, he’s picked a good on for Cafe Society in the form of Jesse Eisenberg. Re-teaming him with the often wooden Kristen Stewart may not have been as good an idea, but we will see.

Ahead of the movie’s debut at Cannes, the first trailer has now arrived.

Eisenberg plays Bobby, a young man who relocates to Hollywood in the hopes of pursuing a career in film. Once there, he falls in love and becomes captivated by the lush Hollywood scene. Steve Carell, Blake Lively, Parker Posey and Jeannie Berlin also star.

Interestingly, after holding out for years and suggesting he’s always stick with digital film, Cafe Society marks Woody’s first film shot on digital. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
