Aftershock Trailer – Eli Roth has a Chilean earthquake to deal with

December 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If this trailer is anything to go by, you don’t want to be in Chile after an earthquake. Hostel director Eli Roth stars as a one of group of travellers who are in an underground nightclub when a massive earthquake hits, and quickly learn that reaching the surface is just the beginning of their nightmare.

The movie was actually shot in areas that were still devastated from the real 8.8 magnitude quake that hit Chile in 2010, although hopefully the aftermath of that disaster wasn’t as gory as this, at least in terms of people running around trying to kill one another.

No UK release date is currently set, but the Nicolás López directed movie should arrive sometime next year.

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost & More In First Pic From The World’s End

December 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Worlds-End-pic1We’ve already had a poster for The World’s End, but now as a bit of a Christmas treat, Simon Pegg has tweeted the first official picture from the movie, which reunites the actor with Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright.

It’s a pic full of top British talent with Pegg and Frost alongside Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Paddy Considine. Filming is now winding down, as while I’ve been writing this, Frost has tweeted, ‘I’m officially wrapped on The Worlds End. Wow. What a trip!’

Here’s the synopsis: ’20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.’

The film hits UK cinemas on August 14th 2013.

Zachary Levi & Jim Sturgess Vie For Guardians of the Galaxy Lead

December 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zachary-leviLast month, it was revealed that Marvel and director James Gunn had started testing actors for Guardian Of The Galaxy, with Joel Edgerton, Jim Sturgess, Jack Huston, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne signing deals to try out for the role of Peter Quill.

Now Variety reports that only one of those actors, Jim Sturgess, is still in the running, with Chuck star Zachary Levi emerging as another top contender.

Zachary Levi’s inclusion is pretty unexpected as he took over the role of Fandral in Thor: The Dark World after Joshua Dallas was forced to bow out because of his commitment to the ABC series Once Upon a Time. If he takes the lead in Guardians Of The Galaxy, it would suggest this film won’t be part of the Marvel universe continuity the company has been building up (although they may think Fandral is a tangential enough character that it won’t matter if Levi is in Thor and then moves to Guardians).

The characters of Peter Quill was born as the son of a human mother and an alien father, who becomes an astronaut for NASA. After learning who his father was, he goes off into space where he transforms himself into the Star-Lord, an interplanetary policeman who serves as the Guardians of the Galaxy’s leader.

It isn’t known when filming on the movie will begin.

Sean Hayes To Star In A New Father-Daughter Comedy TV Pilot

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sean-hayesIt’s six years since Will & Grace left out TV screens. Since then the show’s outrageous Jack, Sean Hayes, has come out, had success on Broadway, made various appearance in films and TV shows and branched out as an executive producer on the likes of TV’s Grimm and Hot In Cleveland.

Now he might be returning to our television screen in his own show, as NBC has ordered a pilot episode for a new father-daughter comedy series in which he’ll star. Deadline reports that the show ‘centers on Sean (Hayes), who must figure out how to parent his 14-year-old daughter, who just moved in, while navigating a temperamental new boss at work.’

There’s no info on whether the character is gay or straight. Back in 2011 Sean helped develop a show about a gay couple raising a 12-year-old, but that series wasn’t picked up. While they didn’t want that series, NBC (which also aired Will & Grace), is keen to get Hayes back on our screens, so hopefully this new show will have more luck.

Sean will next be seen on our screens in a guest role in the second season of Smash, which will reunite him with Will & Grace star Debra Messing.

With the help of his new friends, Turbo sets off on a journey to race in the Indianapolis 500. The movie also features the voices of Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, and Ken Jeong.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Trailer And Posters – Steve Carell turns Vegas magician

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Magicians are going to be big in 2013 – or at least Hollywood is hoping so – as we’ve got Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me and also the more comedic The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Now the first posters and trailer for the latter movie have arrived.

The film features Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, Jim Carrey and Jay Mohr, working from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Superstar magicians Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) have ruled the Las Vegas strip for years, raking in millions with illusions as big as Burt’s growing ego. But lately the duo’s greatest deception is their public friendship, while secretly they’ve grown to loathe each other. Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), whose cult followingsurges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there’s still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act—both onstage and off—if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.’

The film is due out next spring. Take a look at the trailer above and click on the pics below to see the posters.

Fresh Posters For Dark Skies, Warm Bodies, GI Joe: Retaliation and Side Effects

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Today seems to be poster day, so rather than doing a post for every single one of them, I’m gathering a few of them together for you to take a look at. So scroll down for pics from Dark Skies, GI Joe: Retaliation, Warm Bodies and Side Effects.

dark-skies-poster1From the producers of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister comes Dark Skies: a supernatural thriller that follows a young family living in the suburbs. As husband and wife Daniel and Lacey Barret (Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton) witness an escalating series of disturbing events involving their family, their safe and peaceful home quickly unravels. When it becomes clear that the Barret family is being targeted by an unimaginably terrifying and deadly force, Daniel and Lacey take matters in their own hands to solve the mystery of what is after their family.’

gi-joe-retaliation-poster1It’s heroes vs. villains in this new GI Joe: Retaliation poster. Channing Tatum (Duke) Bruce Willis (Joe Colton), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), and Ray Park (Snake Eyes) represent the good guys, with Ray Stevenson (Firefly), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow), and Elodie Yung (Jinx) on the baddies side. The 3D movie hits cinemas in March.

warm-bodies-poster2R (Nicholas Hoult) is a zombie. After a zombie apocalypse, he shambles across an America filled with collapsed buildings, rusted cars, shattered windows, and abandoned high-rises. He can only grunt or moan and craves human brains to get high on their memories. After eating the brains of a suicidal teen, R is overcome with love for the teen’s companion, Julie Grigio (Palmer). R rescues Julie from his zombie pack and takes her back to his lair. She eventually leaves, and R follows her back to Citi Stadium, the largest remaining human refuge. It hits cinemas February 8th.

side-effects-poster1Steven Sobderbergh lines another star-filled thriller, this one with Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Side Effects is about a woman (Mara) who turns to prescription medication to deal with her anxiety over her husband’s (Tatum) release from prison. She begins to take a new brand of anti-depressant, prescribed by a doctor (Jude Law), who seems to have more than a professional interest in her. Before long, everything spirals badly out of control, when it appears a murder has been committed. The film is set for release in the UK on March 15th, 2013
