Garden Of Stars Trailer – Next to the Grimm Brothers’ grave, stillborn babies & gay people rest in peace

May 1, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘From Pasquale Plastino & Stéphane Riethauser, Garden of Stars explores the life of Ichgola Androgyn, an AIDS activist who runs German’s first cemetery café. As an undertaker, Ichgola focuses on stillborn babies. For these so-called “Star Kids”, he created a corner with thousands of flowers, pinwheels, elves, fairies, angels and teddy bears watching over the graves, where parents can find an individual spot for their lost child.

‘Next to them, many men who wrote key chapters of the Berlin gay liberation movement are resting, victims of the AIDS epidemic. In one of Europe’s most colorful cemeteries, the funerary culture suddenly takes a new dimension, and life is celebrated with all its mysteries.’

The documentary is due out in the US on VOD June 13th  and on DVD September 5th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

B&B Trailer – A gay and bloody battle for survival in the award-winning film

May 1, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

B&B has certainly had a fair amount of success on the festival circuit, including winning Best LGBT Film at the London Independent Film Festival, and distributor Peccadillo Pictures picking up the UK and Ireland rights. While we’re used to plenty of gay-themed comedies and drama, this one takes us into horror/thriller territory.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marc and Fred exercise their civil rights by checking in at a B&B run by devout Christian Jeff and his teenage son Paul. Jeff has already been successfully sued after he refused them a double bed. Our heroes have come back to demonstrate who’s in the minority now. All goes to plan until a thuggish Russian checks in. Is Alex a fellow gay campaigner or a neo-Nazi come to support homophobia overseas? The gag quickly runs sour as our couple begin to fear they’ve been set up for a beating. A terrifying death occurs but not the one we’ve been expecting.  When Marc and Fred uncover a cold-blooded murder they realize they’re next.’

The film was written and directed by BAFTA-nominated Joe Ahearne (Trance, The Replacement, Doctor Who), who comments, “I wanted to do a thriller in the Hitchcock vein but with gay characters making the wrong choices and getting terrified out of their wits. B&B goes beyond the gay relationship movie. It’s a thriller with a married couple at the centre, something I haven’t seen before.”

The couple is played by Tom Bateman (Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express, Amy Schumer’s Snatched) and Sean Teale (Bryan Singer’s Gifted, Ben Affleck’s Incorporated), and the B&B owner is played by Paul McGann (Withnail & I, Doctor Who).

B&B has just played in competition at the ECU Independent Film Festival in Paris and is also playing in competition at the MIFO LGBT Festival in Miami, OUT Film CT in Connecticut and a number of other festivals. To find out more about B&B, upcoming screenings, and its creators, please check the film’s official website www.BnBfilm.co.uk.

Ewan McGregor Will Be Grown-Up Christopher Robin In Winnie the Pooh Sequel

April 27, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As well as live-action movies based on their feature-length animated classics, Disney has been working on a live-action Winnie The Pooh movie. Now that film has found its Christopher Robin, with THR reporting that Ewan McGregor is in talks to star.

As you may have guessed, this is planned as a movie about Chrisopher Robin as an adult, having left the hundred-acre wood behind many years before. He is now an adult who ‘has lost his sense of imagination and is a businessman focused on work and success.’ As you might expect, things begin to change when Winnie, Piglet and co. come back into his life.

Marc Forster (World War Z, Finding Neverland) is set to direct, with Disney having just brought in Hidden Figures’ Allison Schroeder to rewrite the script. It’s not known yet when we might get to see the movie.

Star Wars Boss Kathleen Kennedy Isn’t Ruling Out A Romance Between Poe & Finn

April 27, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When The Force Awakens was released, more than a few people noticed that John Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron seemed to like each other a lot, to the point where many wondered if the film was suggesting some sort of romance between them. It even got the point where the actors were joking about it and you couldn’t tell if they thought their characters might have a romantic future together or not.

However, it turns out it’s not just fans who’ve been wondering whether the duo might end up as an item, because so have those in charge of the franchise as Lucasfilm. Kathleen Kennedy, who runs the company, was asked about the possibility of Poe and Finn properly falling in love.

She replied, “We’ve talked about it, but I think you’re not going to see it in The Last Jedi.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean we’ll see it in any of the other movies either, but it’s nice to know they’re taking it seriously as a possibility. And from what Kennedy said next, it appears they’d never thought about Finn and Poe having a romantic connection until fans pointed it out.

She says, “In the next six or eight months we will have some meetings about the stories that we will develop next. After 40 years of adventures, people have a lot of information and a lot of theories about the path these stories can take, and sometimes those theories that come up are new ideas for us to listen to, read and pay attention to.”

Although some may think this is a form of queerbaiting, hopefully it means Kennedy and others are taking the idea of LGBT characters in the Star Wars universe seriously, and whether it’s Poe and Finn or not, that they will arrive in the movies soon. (H/T GSN)

Is One Of The Guardians Of The Galaxy Gay? The Director Says ‘Maybe’

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a bit of consternation in the last week after it initially looked like Marvel was bringing a couple of LGBT characters into its film universe when scenes from Black Panther were screened that suggested two of the women were interested in one another, only for them to reveal that no, they’re not.

However, there’s an outside chance that the Marvel universe already has a gay character, but we just don’t know it yet.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn was asked about bringing a gay character into the franchise. He replied, “Absolutely. I would love to be able to. We might have already done that. I say watch the movie. Check it out. See what you think.”

When asked to clarify what he meant – as those who’ve Vol. 2 have suggested there’s little to suggest any of the characters are LGBT, Digital Spy reports Gunn saying, “What I meant to say is this: There are a lot of gay people in the world. There are a lot of bisexual people in the world. There are a lot of characters in the MCU. We’ve barely gotten to know the sexuality of any of those characters. We know Gamora and Quill are interested in each other. That’s about the only sexual relationship that exists within the Guardians. We know Drax has a past with a wife so he’s got some sort of interest in women. But we don’t really know who’s gay and who’s not. It could be any of them.”

This could just be Gunn speculating or inviting people to interpret what’s going on – e.g. was the relationship between Rocket Raccoon and Groot in the first film not purely friends? – or whether he has plans for the third movie he’s just officially signed on to write and direct. We will have to wait and see.

New Cars 3 Trailer – Lightning McQueen isn’t the young hotshot anymore

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While we’ve had a couple of promos for Disney/Pixar’s Cars 3, they haven’t actually shown us a huge amount of the movie, other than Lightning McQueen have an almighty crash. However a new trailer gives us a far better taste of the upcoming film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!’

The movie will be in cinemas this summer. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer – Taron Egerton is back & meeting his American counterparts

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kingsman was a bigger success than most had expected. It was more than enough to get it a sequel, which will be released later this year. Along with the return of British agents Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (yes, he will return), we will be introduced to the Statesmen, the US version of the Kingsmen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Kingsman: The Secret Service” introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…

Alongside the returning Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, will be newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, with Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges [Read more…]

New Baywatch Trailer – Zac Efron gets all dragged-up, Audrey Hepburn style

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the first couple of trailer, the most noticeable thing was how Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson seemed to be in competition as to who could have the body that looked most like it was too muscled for a real human. However, the thing that will be distracting you is this one, is Efron going undercover in drag, and looking like he’s modelled himself on Audrey Hepburn.

The film itself is, of course, based on the hit 90s TV series. As you might expect being taken from show that’s known for being pretty cheesy, the film keeps it’s tongue firmly in its cheek. And yes, there is some slo-mo running in swimsuits. The movies follows ‘devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchanan (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.’

Take a look at the new trailer below, which was first tweeted out by The Rock himself. Baywatch will be in cinemas on May 29th. [Read more…]

Ang Lee’s Clone Thriller Gemini Man Is Courting Will Smith

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ang Lee’s last film, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, didn’t get the same critical reaction as many of his earlier movie. For his next movie, he’s in talks to go in a rather different direction and a genre he’s never really touched before – sci-fi. But then, Lee has always liked to try new things, as his back catalogue has ranged from historical drama and war films, to tragic romances and rom-coms.

Recently it was revealed Ang is in negotiation to helm Gemini Man, and now THR adds that Will Smith may be the man who’ll star in the movie.

Gemini Man itself has a long history, as it’s been around since 1997, when Disney bought the original pitch from Darren Lemke. Since then it’s been through numerous hands and incarnations. The latest is Skydance Pictures, which is hoping that bringing Lee and Smith onboard will finally help get the movie made.

The film itself ‘centers on an aging assassin who finds himself in a battle with the ultimate opponent: his clone, who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities.’ It’s not known when we might see the movie.

Billy Eichner & Seth Rogen Will Be Live-Action Lion King’s Timon & Pumbaa

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jon Favreau is busy putting together the voice cast for his live-action take on The Lion King, and he’s just found the men he want to be Simba’s warthog and meerkat pals, Timon and Pumbaa. TheWrap reports that Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will take on the roles.

They join Donald Glover as Simba, with James Earl Jones returning to play his father, Mufasa. It rumoured that the makers want Beyonce to play Simba’s mother Nala, but that’s yet to be confirmed.

In the 1994 animated movie, Timon and Pumbaa were voiced by Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella. Although Billy Of The Street’s Eichner and Bad Neighbours’ Rogen seem somewhat different to those two on the surface, they do have a similar energy and could be a lot of fun in the roles.

What’s not known yet is whether the movie will follow Beauty and the Beast’s reinvention of the animated movie as a full-on musical, or whether it will remove most (if not all) of the tunes, like Favreau’s Jungle Book. You have to hope that at the very least, we get to hear Eichner and Rogen’s take on Hakuna Matata.

It’s expected that the movie will shoot this year, although no release date is currently set.
