Ben Affleck Wants To Be Nathan Decker

March 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Although I’m becoming increasingly convinced Ben Affleck should only star in movies he also directs, THR says he has signed onto play the title character in Nathan Decker, a political comedy being set up at Warner Bros. The project does not have a director yet, but Ben does not plan to helm the project himself.

Dan Fogelman (Crazy Stupid Love) wrote the screenplay, which at one point had Tom Cruise attached to play the title character. The plot centres on a politician who is caught having an affair, and returns to his hometown to confront his past.

The studio is currently looking for a director, although it isn’t known when production may begin.

Gerard Butler Going To Motor City

March 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Getting someone locked in to the main role for Motor City has proved a bit tough, with Dominic Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal both coming and going from the movie, but director Albert Hughes will be hoping he’s finally got his man now that Gerard Butler is in talks to star, according to Variety.

Back in September, Dominic Cooper signed on to play an ex-con who goes on a quest for vengeance against the men who framed him and sent him to prison. Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to replace him earlier this month, but bowed out shortly afterwards, due to scheduling conflicts. Gary Oldman is set to play the villain, while Amber Heard is cast as the female lead.

Albert Hughes is directing Motor City from a screenplay by Chad St. John, which was featured on the 2009 Black List. Production is scheduled to begin in June, around the same time Butler is supposed to be shooting Brilliant, so it seems there’s more scheduling to sort out.

Twins Sequel Triplets In The Works With Schwarzenegger, Devito & Eddie Murphy

March 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For well over 20 years now there been talk of making a sequel to 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny Devito hit Twins. Now plans are moving forward once again, with THR reporting that Universal is in talks with DeVito and Schwarzenegger to develop a sequel, titled Triplets – which as the name suggest means they’ll be getting another brother.

The movie would reunite the two stars as mismatched brothers Julius and Vincent discovering they have third sibling who also resulted from the experiments that made them. The twist in the story is that Eddie Murphy would play the sibling.

The film is still seeking it’s director, but Ivan Reitman, who helmed the first movie, will produce.

Kristen Bell Says ‘It Breaks My Heart That Gay Americans Can’t Marry’

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Bell has always been a gay ally and revealed recently what a strong one she is, when she said in an interview that she and boyfriend Dax Shepard have been put off marriage by the lack of equality.

She said, “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant… Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.’

She’s decided to make her stance even more public with a new advert for the Human Rights Campaign, where she says, “It breaks my heart that millions of gay Americans can’t marry the one they love.”

You can take a look at the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star’s new pro-marriage equality ad below:

David Moretti & Bruce Vilanch Turning A Christmas Carol Gay

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David Moretti in The Lair

Gay actor David Moretti got a lot of fans thanks to his often scantily clad role in the homo-tastic vampire series The Lair, and now he’s teaming up with comedian Bruce Vilanch – best known for his years spent writing jokes for The Oscars – for a gay take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, called Scrooge & Marley.

The Advocate reports that the film will also feature Eating Out: Drama Camp’s Ronnie Kroell, A League of Their Own’s Megan Cavanagh, and Drop Dead Diva’s Rusty Schwimmer. According to the press release, the film will apparently have “heart, comedy and music,” and “the magic of Dickens’ timeless tale of a man’s redemption at the holidays-thanks to the help of three ghostly spirits-comes alive from a fresh perspective that will appeal to audiences of every persuasion.“

A Christmas Carol is the most adapted story in the history of cinema, so it’s about time it got a gay version!

“I am beyond excited to be a part of Scrooge & Marley,” the rather sexy Moretti says, “Christmas movies hold a very special place in my heart as I have a handful of favorites I’ve watched every single Christmas since I was a little boy. My hope is that Scrooge & Marley becomes that for the gay community. It’s a sweet, classic story of redemption – with a little glitter.”

Paranorman UK Trailer – Great stop motion fun

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick may have moved on from Laika, the animation company he helped found and through which he made Coraline, but Laika is still in the business of creating intricate stop-motion movies, and it seems Paranorman will be no different. In ParaNorman, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits. The film reaches the UK September 14th, 2012.

Detention Trailer – Josh Hutcherson goes horror

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If an actor hits it big, you can pretty much guarantee everything they has ever starred in will suddenly emerge. Detention premiered over a year ago at SXSW, but it’s only now that Josh Hutcherson has broken out with Journey 2 and The Hunger Games that it’s finally getting a release in the US, and a trailer has now arrived. Detention tells the story of the senior class at Grizzly Lake high school. The road to graduation is never an easy one, but it’s further complicated for these students by the arrival of a slasher movie killer who has seemingly come to life. The only ones who can stop the killer are a handful of students, but they’ll have to cut out of detention if they’re to stand a chance at saving the world. It’s due out Friday, April 13th in the US, but no UK date it currently set.

Rise Of The Guardians Trailer

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dreamworks Animation has largely stuck to movies that are knockabout fun, but from the evidence of this trailer, there might be a bit more meat to Rise Of The Guardians – it’s certainly gonna look pretty. The film tells the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost – legendary characters with previously unknown extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere. Rise Of The Guardians is due out in November.

First Poster For Hick Debuts, Featuring Chloe Moretz

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I can’t think of any other juvenile actress who’s spent so much of her career with a gun in her hand, but Kick Ass’ Hit Girl, Chloe Moretz, is getting out the pistols once more on the first poster for her upcoming film, Hick.

Derick Martini’s (Lymelife) film is about a rural Nebraska girl, Luli (Moretz), who gets more than she bargained for when she runs away after her hick family abandons her. Luli heads to Los Angeles, meeting numerous unsavoury characters along the way. Both funny and very dramatic – in Andrea Portes’ book Luli’s life of the road involves her becoming an accessory to a robbery as well as getting raped and tied up in a motel.

It’s out in the US in May, but there’s no UK date set as yet.
