Chris Pratt Simply Can’t Understand Why Anyone Would Be ‘Offended By Me Just Taking My Junk Out’

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chris-pratt-gq-pic3-slideIt seems Chris Pratt likes being naked, and for that we can only say, ‘hooray’. The only upsetting thing about this fact is that while he’s keen to let the world know that he’s not very good at wearing clothes, we’ve yet to see evidence of this on-screen (unpixelated, at least).

While talking to GQ about the upcoming Jurassic World, he says of his youth, “I was a jokester, I had a dirty mind, and a dirty sense of humor. And I was naked a lot. I was naked all the time. It was just recently, in the last few years since I’ve become an adult, that I’ve learned to keep my clothes on. And even then, I really haven’t. I got yelled at by NBC for getting naked.”

The yelling happened during a scene in Parks and Recreation where Pratt was supposed to appear naked in a doorway, but for filming was meant to wear something to cover his modesty. However for one take he didn’t bother.

It turns out NBC weren’t impressed though, “They sent me a letter,” Pratt says, “HR sent me a letter. Someone obviously must have complained about it or something. I guess now that I don’t work for them, I can make fun of it, but part of the letter was saying, like, ‘Also, don’t mock this. Just so we’re clear, you’re being reprimanded, and don’t go around talking about how this is funny.’ [It was] the take they fucking used, by the way, that made the air, and was hilarious, so I was totally right, but apparently if you want to get naked there’s certain protocols you have to take to prevent people from being offended—you have to give them the opportunity to not see it”

However that wasn’t the only trouble he’s gotten into due to for his penchant for nudity, saying “I got suspended from the track team in high school for getting naked on the track bus. I was always getting naked. I thought it was hilarious. I didn’t understand how somebody could be so offended by me just taking my junk out.”

Neither can we Chris, neither can we.

You can take a look at a few pics from Chris’ GQ shoot below (and is it just me, or is he looking surprisingly like he’s been melded with Paul Rudd?). [Read more…]

The New Hedwig Has Been Chosen In The Form Of Taye Diggs

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

taye-diggsEvery few months it’s time to announce a new actor to play the title role in the Broadway production of Hedwig And The Angry Inch, and now it’s happened again – and they haven’t disappointed. We’ve had Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, John Cameron Mitchell and currently Darren Criss, and next up it’s time for the former Mr. Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs.

While Diggs is best known to many for his roles in TV’s Private Practice and Murder In The First, he has a great musical theatre pedigree, having first really been noticed as part of the original cast of Rent (and it’s quite scary that he doesn’t look like he’s aged a day since then) and also appeared in the likes of Chicago (both on stage and in the movie version). However this will be his first Broadway role since briefly appearing in Wicked 12 years ago.

Diggs is the first African-American actor to take on the role of the East German title character, who was left with an angry inch after a botched sex change operation that she had in order to get into the US with her American GI lover. Hedwig then started dating young Tommy Gnosis, who left her behind when he took her music and became a rock star – leaving her understandably bitter (but still very funny), and ready to recount her tale for the audience.

Taye has signed up for a 12 week stint in the show, starting July 22nd.

We Are Your Friends Trailer – Zac Efron sets out to be a DJ

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

we-are-your-friendsI thought a miracle was going to occur and they were going to manage to make a trailer for a Zac Efron movie where he didn’t take his shirt off once, but then it gets towards the end and there he is in bed and then jumping into a pool with his nipples on show once more.

Those Hollywood marketeers just can’t resist it!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film marks Max Joseph’s (MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show”) feature film directorial debut, and stars Zac Efron (“Neighbors”), Emily Ratajkowski (upcoming “Entourage,” “Gone Girl”) and Wes Bentley (“Interstellar,” “The Hunger Games”).

“We Are Your Friends” is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

The movie is due out in August. [Read more…]

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Trailer – Dylan O’Brien finds his troubles have only just begun

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

maze-runner-scorch-trials-poster1Before The Maze Runner was released, many thought it was just a Hunger Games rip-off that was destined to fail. However it proved the naysayers wrong by becoming a hit and by being a pretty good movie that more than deserves a sequel.

Anyone who saw that first film will know that by necessity the follow-up will be rather different, and now we can take our first look at The Scorch Trials, which takes us out of the maze but continues many of the mysteries.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.’

It’ll be in UK cinemas on September 18th. [Read more…]

New Pixels Trailer – Adam Sandler & co. must save the world from videogames

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pixels-slide1Pixels is a bit of a wildcard for this summer season, hoping that audiences will be hungry for some effects driven comedy, despite a rather mixed record for that type of movie. It is based on a neat concept though and has a good cast.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas. [Read more…]

New Pan Trailer – Hugh Jackman & Garrett Hedlund head for Neverland

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pan-poster3When the first Pan trailer arrived last November it was the start of a campaign that was supposed to see the movie arrive in cinemas this July. However Warner decided that as it had a pretty packed summer it would move it back to October, and so this new trailer is essentially trying to start up the hype all over again.

The promo suggests this will be a more traditional family fantasy than some of the darker takes on classic tales we’ve had recently, although I’m hoping that by the time it reaches cinemas the CGI won’t look quite Polar Express animation.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

‘The film stars Oscar® nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar® nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter. Amanda Seyfried (“Les Misérables”) rounds out the cast as Mary, alongside Jack Charles (“Mystery Road”) as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na (“The Kick”) as Kwahu; Nonso Anozie (“Son of God,” “Atonement”) as Bishop; Kathy Burke (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) as Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan (“Skyfall”) as Murray; Lewis MacDougall (UK TV’s “In the Name of the Children”) as Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.

‘PAN is released in UK cinemas 16 October 2015’ [Read more…]

First Official Warcraft Pics Introduce Rob Kazinsky’s Ogrim Doomhammer

May 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

warcraft-pic1-slideIt’s nearly a year since Warcraft finished shooting and also just over a year until its released, but now the first official pic from the upcoming adaptation of the hit videogame has arrived, which suggests the filmmakers are already well on the way to creating a gigantic fantasy world.

The two pics are of a fully CGI character, Ogrin Doomhammer, who’s been motion captured by Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim, True Blood) before being given a bit more bulk as the leader of the orcs by Industrial Light & Magic.

Not too much is known about the plot, although it’s rumoured it’s about the first meeting between orcs and humans, who become sworn enemies as different races of fantasy creatures band together to form the two faction, The Horde and The Alliance.

Duncan Jones directs with a June 2016 release set.

Orange Is The New Black – Season 2 (Blu-ray Review)

May 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne
Director: Various
Running Time: 780 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: May 18th 2015 (UK)

When Season 1 of Orange Is The New Black debuted on Netflix it proved that House Of Cards wasn’t a fluke and that the streaming service could compete with the US TV networks in terms of quality. However it was noticeable that while it was entertaining, it sometimes felt like its best characters were given short shrift, while the less interesting ones got all the screen time.

They seem to have realised that as with Season 2 the show manages to far better integrate the likes of the majestic Laverne Cox’s Sophia (although she’s still not in it enough), and Uzo Aduba’s ‘Crazy Eyes’. Indeed the show gives Uzo so much room to showcase her talents that she won an Emmy. It’s great that in a rare show that’s peopled almost completely by women, Orange Is The New Black has grown the confidence to realise that it has enough great characters that any of them can carry the story. A Most Violent Year (Blu-ray Review)

May 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, David Oyelowo, Elyes Gabel, Albert Brooks
Director: J.C. Chandor
Running Time: 125 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: May 18th 2015 (UK)

A Most Violent Year is one of those movies where, with stronger marketing, it could have gained traction during the awards season, perhaps not winning much but certainly getting more than just one Golden Globe nomination (a Supporting Actress nod for Jessica Chastain).

Director JC Chandor impressed many with his look at the start of the financial crash in Margin Call, and also with his almost dialogue-free Robert Redford alone-at-sea movie, All Is Lost. In many respects A Most Violent Year is a more tradition movie than either of those films, but it’s still extremely stylish and accomplished. [Read more…]

Unzipped Episodes 1-5 – Take a look at HIV Equal Online’s new gay-themed web series

May 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

unzipped-pic1There are quite a lot of LGBT-friendly web series out there, however relatively few of them have properly dealt with the issues around being HIV+.

Now though there’s Unzipped, directed by Tyler Curry and coming from HIV Equal Online, a documentary web series where nine guys talk about their experiences of sex, love and HIV.

The first five episodes have now been released, which look at everything from first gay experiences and what makes sex good, to dealing with issues such as broken condoms, and the things about HIV that scare the men involved.

It’s well worth a look, starting out relatively light and funny before moving onto more serious issues, while never getting too bogged down in angst and misery. You can take a look at epiodes 1-5 below, along with the first episode of Unzipped In Depth, which takes things a little deeper, with Eric talking about behing HIV+ in NYC. [Read more…]
