There’s no doubt that most pornography is incredibly formulaic, with the emphasis far more on quantity and going the same thing over and over again, rather than quality or doing something a little different. However, for the past few years Cockyboys have been trying to push the boundaries a little, upping the filmmaking quality of their ‘episodes’, and producing a series of episodic films, some of which have verged towards art porn (particularly the rather weird Answered Prayers).
Now they’re trying something a little different with Just Love. It may feature hardcore sex, but it’s also about taking a look at the lives of the performers, through confessional footage. They talk about the journeys that took them into the world of gay porn, how they feel about it, and how it fits into the rest of their lives. While a lot of porn opens with an interview, as you’ll see below, this is something a little bit different.
Subtitled ‘A Porn Star’s Guide To Sexual Freedom’, it certainly seems to want to be about more than just helping guys get their rocks off, with a feel that it’s also about helping people be more open about their sexuality and what they want. American TV has found a new love of live stagings of musical, with the likes of The Sound Of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz and Grease all having successful outings. This December Hairspray is getting the same treatment, and to help drum up early interest, a teaser has arrived.
In a few weeks a new lesbian-themed movie is due to start shooting in Cincinnnati, which has gathered together a great cast including Ellen Page, Kate Mara, Amy Seimetz, Pablo Schreiber and Elias Koteas. Israeli filmmaker Tali Shalom Ezer (Princess) will direct.
