Just Love Trailer – Cockyboys gets confessional about gay adult film

August 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

just-loveThere’s no doubt that most pornography is incredibly formulaic, with the emphasis far more on quantity and going the same thing over and over again, rather than quality or doing something a little different. However, for the past few years Cockyboys have been trying to push the boundaries a little, upping the filmmaking quality of their ‘episodes’, and producing a series of episodic films, some of which have verged towards art porn (particularly the rather weird Answered Prayers).

Now they’re trying something a little different with Just Love. It may feature hardcore sex, but it’s also about taking a look at the lives of the performers, through confessional footage. They talk about the journeys that took them into the world of gay porn, how they feel about it, and how it fits into the rest of their lives. While a lot of porn opens with an interview, as you’ll see below, this is something a little bit different.

Subtitled ‘A Porn Star’s Guide To Sexual Freedom’, it certainly seems to want to be about more than just helping guys get their rocks off, with a feel that it’s also about helping people be more open about their sexuality and what they want. Take a look at the slightly NSFW trailer below. [Read more…]

August 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

beauty-markProduced through the Jameson First Shot film contest, Beauty Mark is a great little film from Cameron Thrower, which unlike most LGBT-themed shorts, has a well-known name starring – Maggie Gyllenhaal.

It the 1980s, and Maggie plays door-to-door makeup saleswoman Valerie Williams, who meets Mark, the son of one of her clients. It soon transpires that Mark is trans and in the closet, and could do with some makeup tips, with the initially uncertain Valerie well placed to help her.

It’s a very charming film with a great message, which perfectly fits the First Shot theme of ‘fearing less and inviting life in’. Following a small cinema release at the end of July, it’s now been released online for everyone to view, so take a look below. [Read more…]

Ellen Page & Kate Mara To Star In Lesbian-Themed Romantic Drama Mercy

August 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ellen-pageIn a few weeks a new lesbian-themed movie is due to start shooting in Cincinnnati, which has gathered together a great cast including Ellen Page, Kate Mara, Amy Seimetz, Pablo Schreiber and Elias Koteas. Israeli filmmaker Tali Shalom Ezer (Princess) will direct.

In the movie, ‘Page is portraying Lucy, the daughter of a man on death row falling in love with Mara’s Mercy character, a woman on the opposing side of her family’s political cause. As a result, Lucy’s value for truth is tested as her world begins to unravel.’ It’s certainly a setup with potential for plenty of drama.

Joe Barton wrote the script for the movie, which has been in the works for a while – indeed it’s believed Page has been attached for over a year. It will begin filming in September for release next year.

Ben Affleck To Star In & Direct Witness For The Prosecution Remake

August 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-affleckAfter seeing his career in the doldrums, Ben Affleck has certainly made a spectacular comeback, as he’s now much in demand as both an actor and a director. Now he’s set to take both roles in a new take on Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution, according to Variety.

Christie’s short story was previously made into a movie in 1957 by director Biilly Wilder, starring Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich, Elsa Lanchester and Charles Laughton. It was set ‘in the Old Bailey in London, Laughton plays a lawyer who represents a man (Power) accused of murdering a rich widow who had become enamored with him and made him the main beneficiary of her will.’

There’s no news on whether the new version will change this setup, such as movie it to the modern day or relocating it to the US. It’s not clear either what role Affleck will play.

Jared Leto Set To Join Ryan Gosling & Harrison Ford In Blade Runner Sequel

August 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jared-LetoThe follow-up to Blade Runner just got a little more interesting. Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Ana de Armas are already onboard to star, and they’ve now been joined by Jared Leto, according the THR.

There’s still not much info about the exact plot of the movie, but we do know it’s set several decades after the original, and that Harrison Ford will once more be reprising his role as Rick Deckard. It’s been rumoured that Gosling will also be playing a detective, while Robin Wright will be an android. We’d also be willing to bet Leto is going android too.

Denis Villeneuve, director of Prisoners and the upcoming Arrival, will helm the movie, with Alcon Entertainment producing. It’s currently set for release October 2017.

Theo & Hugo Red Band Trailer – Take a look at the sexy new gay-themed love story

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

theo-and-hugoTheo and Hugo has proven a big success at film festivals, including getting a very good reception at the BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival earlier this year. Now it’s on its way to UK cinemas, and a NSFW trailer has arrived to give us a feel for the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Théo and Hugo encounter each other’s bodies one night in a Paris sex club. Wanting to know more about each other, they leave the club and drift down the deserted streets of nocturnal Paris. Suddenly they find themselves confronted by a sense of reality that wipes out their freedom and lends each step an existential helplessness.

‘Do they want to know more about each other?  Will their trust be rewarded? What are their expectations?

‘Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (Drôle de Félix, Born in 68) deliver their most ambitious film yet, displaying a consummate sensitivity in bringing us closer to two men as they strive for intimacy in spite of being stalled by their insecurity.’

It’s also been noted for how explicit it is, with co-director Jaques Martineau commenting: “We were telling a real story and we were all focused on that so it made filming the sex as natural as we’d imagined it when we conceived the project. It’s not just a scene of sexual intercourse and the demands of the story meant that the ‘performance’ of filming actors with erections faded into the background (even if it’s not the same as filming a family meal!). We had to believe in these two people falling in love and the passionate surge of desire.”

Take a look at the trailer below. It’ll be in UK cinemas on September 9th. [Read more…]

paul-iaconoDirector Mike Roma recently charmed an awful lot of people with his web series, Danny The Manny. Now he’s about to start shooting his first movie, and he’s pulled together a great cast for the gay-themed project, called (slightly disturbingly) Dating My Mom.

American Honey Trailer – Shia LaBeouf stars in a troubled teen tale

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

american-honeyWith all his bizarre (and sometimes rather student-y) performance art pieces and idiosyncratic behaviour, it’s easy to forget that when he fancies it, Shia LeBeouf is still an actor. However, you probably won’t be too surprised to hear that his next movie isn’t a Transformers style blockbuster, but an indie movie.

However it’s one that’s been very well received, getting some excellent reviews following its Cannes debut. Now we can get a taste for ourselves with a trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Star (Sasha Lane), an adolescent girl from a troubled home, runs away with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of hard-partying nights, law-bending days, and young love.’ It’ll be in US cinemas next month. Get A Full Body Look At Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise In The New Stephen King’s It Movie

August 17, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pennywise-it-bill-skarsgard-slideA few weeks ago – and very shortly after it started shooting – we got our first look at Bill Skargard as the evil Pennywise the Clown in the new two-part film adaptation of Stephen King’s It. That’s now been follow by another image that shows us character’s entire body rather than just his face.

While Tim Curry’s take on Pennywise in the 1990 TV mini-series version was based on a circus clown, the new take takes from of its inspiration from the classic Commedia dell’Arte and other historical clowns. It certainly looks pretty creepy. The story will be told across two movies, with the first dealing with a group of children’s interaction with a sewer-dwelling, shape-shifting monster that takes the form of an evil clown, and the second with what happens once they’ve grown up and return to take on the menace again.

It’s currently shooting, with Andrés Muschietti directing. The first part is due for release September 2017. [Read more…]
