I think it’s safe to safe having watched the trailer for Top Cat Begins, that the digital artists at the likes of Pixar, Dreamworks Animation, Illumination and Blu Sky aren’t going to be worried that the makers of this new movie are going to blow them out of the water with the quality of their CGI. In fact all the background characters look oddly like zombies.

While there’s been a lot of comment about whether Finn and Poe Dameron might end up being the Star Wars movie’s first gay couple (based on their bromance in The Force Awakens), it’s not really been mentioned that the franchise could have had a gay character long before that – Luke Skywalker. Although he was shown having some interest in Leia, before he found out she was his sister, he never really had a romance of his own, and seemed as interested in men as women.

Ever since it was announced that Sony was reviving the Ghostbusters franchise with a new, all-female team, there have been some grumblers out there saying it shouldn’t have been done. However, now the first proper trailer is here, which gives us our first proper look at the movie. While slightly different in tone to the original, it does look like it’ll be a lot of fun.
While in LA for the Oscars, Eddie Redmayne took time out to head the Los Angeles LGBT Youth Center, where he met some of the users of the service – something he’s described as shocking, such as learning that 40% of Los Angeles’s homeless youth are LGBT. He also took the time while there to record a video in order to help raise some funds.
We’ve had a couple fo brief looks at Pixar’s return to the sea for Finding Dory, but it’s only now that we’ve got a proper trailer, which gives us a good look at the movie, with Ellen Degeneres’ forgetful fish finding out about her past.
If only when he was winning, Sam Smith had said he was an openly gay man and proud to be part of the LGBT community, and left it at that. However, his mistaken contention that no openly gay person had ever won an Oscar (plenty have, but no openly gay actor has) resulted in anger, ridicule and a lot of people wincing at his faux pas.
