New Legend UK Trailer – Tom Hardy turns bisexual as both of the Kray Twins

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

legend-poster-slideBack in 1990 Spandau Ballet stars Martin and Gary Kemp took on the roles of the infamous Kray Twins in a biopic of the famed 1960s British gangsters. Now it’s Tom Hardy’s turn to play both Ronnie and Reggie in Legend.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance. LEGEND is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray Twins.’

The movie will also include the fact that Ronnie Kray was bisexual (while some say he exclusively slept with men, he identified as bisexual). Although him being open about this may seem odd for the 60s, especially considering his profession, it is known that that he did tell many about it and had a series of pretty young boyfriends he likes to show of. He knew the no matter what anyone really though, no one would dare say anything about it to his face – especially because, he was pretty nuts.

The main UK trailer and a poster has been released, to give us a taste of the movie that will be released on Wednesday 9th September 2015. [Read more…]

Disney Plans A Live-Action Aladdin Prequel

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

aladdin-disney-slideLast time Disney went to the fantasy Middle East with Prince Of Persia it didn’t turn out particularly well (in fact it made a massive loss), but the House Of Mouse has been having plenty of success with live-action takes on its classic animated tales, so they’re now planning to go back to Arabia with a prequel to Aladdin.

The film is currently titled Genies, and as you may have guessed it centres on the character in the magic lamp. Although it’s early days and no script has been written the idea is that it will tell the story of how the Genie got into that lamp in the first place, and will largely be set in ‘realm of the Genies’, according to THR.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are on screenplay duties.

The film joins a packed Disney animated-to-live-action roster that includes Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Prince Charming and several others.

First Look At Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult & More In X-Men Apocalypse

July 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

x-men-apocalypse-ew-cover-slideThe mutants are back next year in X-Men Apocalypse, and after adventures set in the 1960s and 1970s, it’s time for Magneto, Professor X, Raven, Beast and co. to enter the 1980s.

EW has offered the first look at the movie with a cover and several images, including our first look at the villain, the titular Apocalypse, an ancient mutant with extraordinary powers that dwarf those of most others. While he was glimpsed at the end of Days Of Future Past looking largely like a normal human being, it appears several thousand years have changed him.

Along with a new villain, we get younger versions of characters we’ve seen before, such as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Angel (Ben Hardy).

They all end up on different sides of a battle where the ancient mutant decides the world has gone to hell since his time and that things would be better if he were in charge, and so he recruits the likes of Magneto to help him.

The movie is due out May 27th, 2016. [Read more…]

The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death (DVD Review)

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Irvine, Helen McRory
Director: Tom Harper
Running Time: 94 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: July 13th 2015 (UK)

The Woman In Black surprised nearly everyone when it became the most successful horror movie ever at the British box office. Due to the fact it was such a huge hit, it’s not surprising a sequel has emerged, complete with a story by Susan Hill who wrote the original Woman In Black novel.

Things have moved on though, as Angel Of Death is set 40 years after the original during the Second World War, when a group of evacuees and their teachers, Jean Hogg (Helen McCrory) and Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox), are sent to the countryside and move into the dilapidated Eel Marsh House – the setting of the first tale. Unsurprisingly this awakens the evil, ghostly presence that resides there, which seems particularly interested in young Edward (Oaklee Pednergast), who is traumatised and mute following the death of his parents in the Blitz. Crush Of The Day: The Naked Boys Of Bridgend Are Back With A New Charity Calendar

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Boys-of-Bridgend-2016-slideBridgend in South Wales has not always had a reputation for being filled with tasty beefcake, but last year the release of the Boys Of Bridgend calendar did a good job of letting us know the valleys are indeed a hotbed of good looking lads willing to take their clothes of for charity.

Now they’re returning and a tease of their 2016 calendar has been released, giving us a first glimpse of this year’s line-up.

The final images from the new calendar are being kept under lock and key until it goes on sale but you can now get your very first look at the 13 men who will make up the 2016 edition in this set of brand new teaser shots.

A scaffolder, a prison guard, a radio presenter and a paralegal are amongst this year’s Welsh men who are stripping off and baring all to raise money for the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation against bullying and homophobia, and with a new layout and design, a new charity to support and a new crop of guys thrown into the mix alongside some returning faces it’s all change at Boys of Bridgend HQ.

“The response last year was amazing”, said Russ Hughes, photographer and creator of the Boys of Bridgend. “We wanted to do something good and raise a little bit of money for a good cause and we ended up selling in 38 countries and raising thousands of pounds. We never thought it would get so big but demand was huge and people have been keen for more so we had to step up and see if we could do it again for another worthwhile cause.”

When it was announced that the boys would be supporting an LGBT cause this year their biggest financial sponsor pulled their backing for the project, leaving the guys unsure how to cover the costs of printing, but undeterred, they launched a Crowdfunder campaign which saw their target met, and exceeded, within 8 days.

“The fact that our old sponsor held those feelings just solidified the fact that this was a cause that still needs support. There was no way we’d change the charity or stop what we’re doing because the funding was pulled so we just had to find another way. Everyone has been totally amazing and supportive, but the LGBT community really got behind us in a big way and when we needed help with funding, the fans stepped in to help out. It’s amazing to be able to give something back by donating the money from this year’s calendar to a charity that does so much work in and for the LGBT community.”

This year’s line-up consists of brothers Ian and Steve, Andrew B, Jamie, Matthew, Dan, Rhys, Danny, James W and Robin as well as Johnathan, Andrew T and James M who are returning from the 2015 calendar, and they’ve got a lot in store for you to make sure 2016 is the hottest year yet. If the calendar isn’t enough of a fix for you, the range is expanding this year to include photo packs, keyrings, art prints, mugs, posters, t-shirts and a whole load more.

The calendar is on sale from September 1st but can be pre-ordered now from the ONLINE STORE

Take a look below and to what what this year’s calendard has in store. [Read more…]

Grindr The Musical Parody Trailer – Would you want to see the rest (surprisingly, you might)?

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

grindr-the-musicalWould you buy a tickets to a musical stage show about Grindr? You might not think so, but after watching this trailer I can imagine there’d be quite a lot of people who’d stump up the cash to see a full-length version.

With its tongue stuck firmly in its cheek, the three-minute video presents us with the story of a young man who comes to the city and thinks the smartphone app will lead to love (and perhaps he’s right, as a new report says around half of its users have found love and/or friendship through the app).

The music is surprisingly good, really going for the Broadway showtune vibe, although with lyrics and subject matter that would make Sondheim blush. Take a look below and be prepared to smile at an idea that’s smarter and funnier than it might initially seem.

(Incidentally, it’s actually a little late, as there’s already a musical called ‘Grind’ about gay hookup apps, which was released last year as a 30-minute short film starring Anthony Rapp. You can watch that here.) [Read more…]

Did Rob Lowe Just Release The Campest 5-Second Video The Internet Has Ever Seen?

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rob-loweI’m pretty sure Rob Lowe is straight (after all, a video showing him sleeping with possibly underage girls nearly destroyed his career at one point), but it seems he’s been letting his inner campness out and then releasing it onto the internet.

In fact I’m not entirely sure whether it would be possible to fit any more gay-ness into five seconds than he manages in the video below, without things getting x-rated. There’s shirtlessness (many seem to assume Rob was naked when making the video, musicals (Julie Andrews and The Sound Of Music), lip-syncing and a rather hedonistic air.

However all Rob had to say about it was, ‘This is what I’m doing on my Saturday night. Enjoy.’

Take a look below and see if you can decide exactly what he was doing, besides perhaps practicing for the next season of Drag Race. [Read more…]

Experimental Gay Film He Loves Me Seeks Funding

July 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

he-loves-me-sanuye_shotekaCrowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way of raising cash for gay-themed film projects, and Konstantinos Menelaou is hoping to use it to help him jump into the realm of feature-length movies

According to the makers, He Loves Me balances ‘between fiction and documentary, the film will explore the unconventional nature of love and its ability to survive against the fear of loneliness and the problematic lifestyle of a big city. The collapsing relationship between Hermes and Shanuye finds an outlet for escape in an isolated beach. Once there, they expose their feelings and release their emotions. Their love reborn might not be enough to amend all the shattered pieces of their relationship.

Through this film Menelaou wants to create a new outlet of communication, which will allow the actors and the director to explore the key issues posed by the script and to offer the audience the chance to participate and further the dialogue when the film reaches its destinations.’

The film is expected to be ready by early December 2015 and will be submitted to a series of film festivals, amongst which is Berlinale, Toronto, Sundance, OutFest, Flare, South by Southwest and Venice.

Alongside the Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign, a promo trailer for He Loves Me has been released, which you can take a look at below. If you like that, head over to Indiegogo to find out more. [Read more…]
