Idris Elba Is In Talks To Be Star Trek 3’s Main Villain

March 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

idris-elbaWe haven’t heard a huge amount about it for a while, but Paramount is still busily putting together Star Trek 3, and now it looks like it’s really moving forward as Idris Elba is in early talks to play the movie’s main villain, according to Variety.

Taking a lesson from JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness there’s little info on what the role may be, although Variety does say ‘Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case.’

The current plan is that the movie will start shooting in June with the likes of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg returning to for a third Starfleet outing. Justin Lin will director with a July 8th, 2016 release date set.

Jesse Eisenberg Goes Bald In First Look At Lex Luthor In Batman v Superman

March 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jesse-Eisenberg-Lex-LuthorLex Luthor is getting a bit younger than Kevin Spacey or Gene Hackman when Jesse Eisenberg takes over the role in next year’s Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. However he’s still going to be bald and now we’ve got the proof as EW has debuted the first image of the actor as the infamous DC Comics villain.

Director Zack Snyder comments, “He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure. Other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course… Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” is the highly anticipated action adventure from director Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

‘“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from “Man of Steel,” Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film.

‘“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

‘Principal photography will take place on location at Michigan Motion Picture Studios and on location in and around Detroit, Michigan; Illinois; Africa; and the South Pacific.’

It’s due out May 2016.

Bradley Cooper Plans To Direct A Star Is Born Remake

March 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooperIt’s musical chairs in Hollywood as when Bradley Cooper initially attached himself to American Sniper he was considering it as his directorial debut, however he ended up passing the reins to Clint Eastwood. However he now taken on one of Clint’s cast-offs, as Deadline reports he’s set to direct a remake of A Star Is Born.

Clint was planning to make the movie a couple of years ago, but his star, Beyoncé, got pregnant, and after that they were never quite able to pull it all together. Cooper is said to still want Beyoncé in the starring role as a young woman with dreams of a singing career who meets a famous actor. However as her career rises, his self-destructs thanks to his alcoholism.

Cooper plans to play the actor himself.

This will be the fourth movie version of the story following the 1937 original, the classic Judy Garland 1954 version and Barbra Streisand’s 1976 take on the tale. It’s not clear when Cooper plans to shoot the film.

Gay Short Film Showcase: Flatmates – Is there more than friendship in the love between two male friends?

March 24, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Flatmates-kompisar-short-filmI’m not sure when the word ‘bromance’ was invented, but we definitely didn’t talk about them as much in 2007 as we do now. That’s doesn’t mean they didn’t exist, as the short film Flatmates (Kompisar) shows.

And as many people still wonder today, it questions whether exceptionally close male friendships may contain something sexual that neither person wants to fully admit.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Two friends, Björn and Hampus, decide to move in together. If one ignores the fact that the two men are completely different, theirs is a close relationship. Being in love with your best friend and, in spite of this, or because of it, arguing to the point where it becomes unbearable.’

It’s a great film, which does a good job of initially making you wonder whether the building sexual tension is real or whether it’s just there because the viewer wants it to be. However as it continues things do inevitably reach boiling point when the men end up in bed together.

Take a look at the film below.

All Yours Trailer – An Argentinian rent boy & a middle-aged Belgian baker make for a mismatched gay couple

March 23, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

all-yours-slideDirector David Lambert had plenty of success with the gay-themed arthouse flick Beyond The Walls in 2012, and now he’s back with All Yours, which takes a look at the type of gay ‘romance’ that doesn’t often get looked at in films.

The movie premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and here’s the synopsis from that fest: ‘Young Argentine Lucas arrives in a small Belgian town to visit gay bakery owner Henry, who fell in love with him through the internet; Lucas strutted his erotic stuff online in the hope of securing a better future for himself. Henry buys him a plane ticket to Europe, expecting in return that Lucas will not only share his bed but also help out at the bakery. However, their ideas about living together differ greatly. On top of that, Lucas gets to know a Canadian woman named Audrey and her son Jeff.

‘This unusual starting point for director Lambert serves his aim of delving deeply into our interpersonal relationships, our wishes and desires, and the understandable need for a supportive environment. The filmmaker succeeded in humorously describing and distinguishing the film’s characters and in aptly portraying their fragility and inner uncertainty. The bold musical and visual elements round out the picture’s compelling atmosphere, and are among the most telling aspects of the talented Belgian filmmaker’s unmistakable style.’

Breaking Glass Pictures has picked up the movie for release in the US, and you can take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Max’s Underpants: Episodes 1&2 – The underwear model teaches us about VPL & aroused straight guys

March 23, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

maxs-underpants-ep2Being a professional underwear model is a bit of an odd job, something the very hunky and popular Max Emerson is well aware of and has decided to leverage for his new web series, Max’s Underpants, where he teaches us all about the oddities and benefits of his barely clothed job.

The first two episodes of Max’s Underpants have now been released and they’re a lot of fun, not just because of the beefcake on display, but also because it’s actually very humourous. Emerson is helped with that by guest stars including a brilliant turn from Willam Belli (who certainly shows us a way of eating bread we’d all enjoy), and the gorgeous Colby Melvin, another gay guy who spends much of his life posing in just his undies.

However here Colby has to do his best straight bro impression, playing a ‘heterosexual’ underwear model who Max suggests must be at least a little bit gay to do what he does for a living (Max makes straight guys modelling undies sound a bit like gay for pay porn to be honest).

IMax’s Underpants is great fun and surprisingly sexy, so take a look at the first two episodes below, with Max promising more on a weekly basis. [Read more…]

Sebastian Stan Says He ‘Brought Everything I Had’ To An ‘Enthusiastic’ New Sex Scene

March 23, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sebastian-stanThere is little doubt that Sebastian Stan is hot, and that’s whether it’s when his gay character is hooking up in Political Animals, or as the hunky Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Captain America movies. But how do you fancy seeing him in a sex scene that caused Vulture to comment, “Is it possible to cartwheel flip oneself into a woman’s vagina?”.

That much talked about scene is in the movie The Bronze, where Stan plays a gymnast who is now an Olympic recruiter, who uses his flexibility for a rather extraordinary sexual encounter.

He was bound to be asked about it, and it’s Vulture (via NewNowNext) who have done the job, catching up with him on the opening night of the Broadway play The Heidi Chronicles.

It seems he certainly had no qualms about shooting the scene, saying, “I was a maybe too enthusiastic about it, but I certainly, uh, brought everything I had.”

He adds, “I really enjoyed the people I was working with, and when they explained to me what the scene was about, it was so funny. I just thought, ‘You know what, you’ve just got to jump in the water sometimes, right?’ You’ve just got to take your clothes off and go for it.”

And we’re very glad he did.

If you need to know why Sebastian should always wear as few clothes as possible, take a look at this post. [Read more…]

Gay Short Film Showcase: You’re Cute For A Black Guy – The short doc shines a light on being black and gay

March 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

you're-cute-for-a-black-guyWhile we might not like to think that prejudice exists within the gay community, the fact is that it does, and when it comes to race some of us can be as dumb and ignorant as straight people can – indeed some might suggest moreso, considering the number of ‘No Blacks’, and ‘No Asians’ statements openly included on Grindr profiles.

Filmmaker Cameron Johnson has decided to shine a light on this, highlighting what black gay men have been told by white gay men, which ranges from the bizarre to the stereotypical to the just plain racist.

Johnson told Huffington Post, “I made this piece because I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t crazy. I couldn’t be the only gay black man who white dates have said insane things to, so I ventured to find others who shared my experiences. What I discovered is that my story isn’t uncommon, it’s just untold… I hope that my work will help to broaden the discussions of what it looks like to be a gay man in 2015, and give people insight into worlds they haven’t understood. Also, seriously never say any of these things to black men again.”

Take a look at short documentary below.
