Mission: Impossible – Fallout (Cinema Review)

July 18, 2018 By George Elcombe Leave a Comment

Starring: Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Running Time: 147 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: July 25th 2018 (UK)

It really doesn’t seem that long since I saw the last Mission: Impossible film (Rogue Nation, 2015), and I praised it for its ability to utilise the tried and tested formula of its predecessors, whilst being a fresh and exhilarating entry to the franchise. That’s something this series continues to do effortlessly with Fallout, which is without doubt one of the best entries. You can’t say that for many other franchises six movies in.

Without going too much into the plot, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team have to retrieve three plutonium cores before they are turned into nuclear bombs, as well as foil the plot of a religious terrorist group called the Apostles, who want to reshape the world. On this mission Hunt is chaperoned by CIA agent Walker (Henry Cavill), and we have the welcome return of regulars Benji (Simon Pegg), Luther (Ving Rhames), Ilsa (Rebeccan Fergurson), alongside some new and memorable additions. May 19, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few years ago Tom Cruise was all set to leave the Mission: Impossible franchise, but then it became just about the only thing that guaranteed him a hit, so he stuck around. Now the latest instalment is on its way – Fallout.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. New Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation Trailer – Tom Cruise goes to war with the Syndicate

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mission-impossible-rogue-nation-poster2-slideIt would seem the Mission: Impossible franchise has decided it wants to sit halfway between a Marvel superhero movie and a James Bond flick, but considering the amount of money those films make, that’s probably not a bad decision for Paramount to have made.

Synopsis: ‘With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.’

Tom Cruise star alongside Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames, and adds to the cast Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin

The kids trying to enjoy their Spring Break at Lake Victoria didn’t have much fun when a bunch of prehistoric pirahna decided to kill everyone in Pirahna 3D, and now the beasties are moving on to a water park for the sequel. With its tongue shoved even further into its cheek, the movie adds the likes of David Hasselhoff to the mix for more fishy madness! The film’s due out this spring.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (DVD)

November 2, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Kevin James, Adam Sandler, Jessica Biel, Dan Aykroyd, Ving Rhames
Director: Dennis Dugan
Running Time: 110 mins
Certificate: 15

When red tape prevents firefighter Larry from naming his kids as his pension beneficiaries, he asks friend and colleague Chuck to pretend to be his domestic partner in order to get around the bureaucracy. However their charade gets increasingly complicated.

I’ve got a high horse and I’m going to get on it. Universal may have screened I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry to GLAAD (the Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and other gay groups to try and prove it wasn’t homophobic, but you can’t get around the fact that it trades on every homosexual stereotype imaginable.
