Patrick Wilson Will Be The Blunderer, Alongside Jessica Biel, Imogen Poots, & Toby Jones

May 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

patrick-wilson-shirtless-slideA very talented cast is coming together for The Blunderer, with Deadline reporting that Patrick Wilson, Jessica Biel, Imogen Poots, and Toby Jones have signed on to star (and yes, I do include Biel in the talented group, as she’s actually far better than most of the roles she’s given).

Based Patricia Highsmith’s 1960s set novel the story follows Walter Stackhouse (Wilson), who is a successful architect with a lovely wife (Biel).

Underneath his seemingly normal, perfect life, he is obsessed with an unsolved murder case, which spirals out of control as he faces both a deadly killer (Jones) and an ambitious detective, all while lusting for another woman (Poots).

Andy Goddard is set to directing from screenplay by Susan Boyd. The film will be looking for buyers at Cannes.

The Truth About Emanuel Trailer – Jessica Biel looks a lot like a dead woman

November 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Truth About Emanuel debuted at Sundance as Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes, but it’s changed its name ahead of its US release.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Emanuel (Kaya Scodelario), an acerbic but sensitive teen, is on the verge of another birthday—a day she has never cared for since her mother died giving birth to her—when the mysterious Linda (Jessica Biel), a young and hip mother, moves in next door. Intrigued by Linda’s striking resemblance to her late mother, Emanuel begins to babysit for Linda’s newborn daughter. As Emanuel and Linda spend more time together, they develop a bond that becomes deeply entwined in a surprising secret Linda harbors. Francesca Gregorini (Tanner Hall) writes and directs The Truth About Emanuel.’

It’ll be out in the US on iTunes and VOD on November 26th, 2013 and in select cinemas from January 10th, 2014. [Read more…]

Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes Trailer – Jessica Biel and Kaya Scodelario star in the Sundance flick

April 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes got decent notices when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Now the first trailer for the movie has been released for the movie, which stars Jessica Biel, Frances O’Connor and Kaya Scodelario.

In the movie, a troubled girl (Scodelario) becomes preoccupied with her mysterious new neighbor (Biel), who bears a striking resemblance to her dead mother. In offering to baby-sit Linda’s newborn, Emanuel unwittingly enters a fragile, fictional world, of which she becomes the gatekeeper.

The film will screen at Sundance London on April 26th. [Read more…]

Total Recall (2012) (Blu-ray)

December 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Bokeem Woodbine
Director: Len Wiseman
Running Time: 130 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: December 26th 2012

Len Wiseman was always going to face an uphill battle remaking Total Recall, as the moment the film was announced legions of fans of the 1990 Arnie movie rose up to denounce the very idea of a do-over. They quickly decided the entire thing would be a disaster, a feeling that deepened when it was announced Len Wiseman would direct (the naysayers concentrated on the fact he made the Underworld movies, not that he did a pretty good with Die Hard 4.0). On the plus side though, it did mean that all Wiseman had to do to beat many people’s expectations was produce a movie that wasn’t awful, and he’s just about managed to do that. [Read more…]

Jessica Biel Offered Viper Role In The Wolverine

July 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I always think Jessica Biel is an actress who’s actually better than the roles she gets suggests, and hopefully she’ll be able to get to prove that in The Wolverine, as director James Mangold has offered her the role of The Viper in The Wolverine. She would join a cast that also includes Will Yun Lee and Brian Tee, who will play villains The Silver Samurai and Noboru Mori.

The Viper has an intriguing past history with Wolverine. At one point she was an ally to Logan and yet also blackmailed him into marrying her. It isn’t known if The Viper will be a friend, foe or a bit of both to Hugh Jackman’s character. Indeed at the moment Biel hasn’t even accepted the role.

The Wolverine follows the title character to Japan, where he hopes to find out more information about who he really is. Production is scheduled to begin in August, with shooting to take place in both Australia and Japan. (Source: Twitch)

The Tall Man Trailer – Jessica Biel has supernatural troubles

July 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jessica Biel has a lot of weird stuff to deal with in The Tall Man, as when her child goes missing, she must unravel the legend of the Tall Man, an entity that allegedly abducts children. As in The Woman In Black, is does make you wonder why people with kids would stick around an area where children keep mysteriously disappearing, but it certainly adds jeopardy to movie. The film should be out later this year.

New Total Recall Trailer – Some things are familiar, some are not

June 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of talk about what’s been changed and what’s stayed the same in the new remake of Total Recall, to the point where many have wondered if it’s a remake at all. However this new trailer seems designed to show there’ll be quite a lot of familiar elements, even if it doesn’t head to Mars – hell, there’s even a three-breasted hooker. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.’ It’s due out August 29th.

Jessica Biel Joins Alfred Hitchcock & The Making of Psycho

March 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s the closest Jessica Biel is likely to get to being in a film as good as Psycho, but the actress has joined Sacha Gervasi’s Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, according to Deadline, about the creation of the classic 60s chiller. Biel is playing the role of actress Vera Miles, who played Lila Crane in Psycho.

Earlier this month Scarlett Johansson signed on to play Janet Leigh, joining Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock and Helen Mirren as his wife, Alma. The film will follow every aspect of the creation of director Alfred Hitchcock’s famous thriller Psycho, based on Stephen Rebello’s book that goes behind-the-scenes on everything from the story’s original inspiration to the controversy surrounding the creation of the famous shower scene. It’s an interesting story, as most thought Hitchcock had gone nuts making a low budget, black and white movie in the much derided (at the time) horror genre, and he had to fight to get it made.

The movie will shoot later this year.

Jessica Biel Wants To Find Truth About Fishes

December 21, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Poor old Jessica Biel. I’ve always thought she’s a rare case of an actress being held back by her attractiveness, as she’s actually a very good actress, but she nearly always gets shoved into eye candy roles that make her seem far more pointless than she actually is.

However, perhaps going a bit indie will help as Variety reports Biel is in talks to star alongside Kaya Scodelario in the thriller Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes, which is being written and directed by one-half of the Tanner Hall duo, Francesca Gregorini.

The film follows the bizarre relationship between a grieving mother (Jessica Biel), who has lost her child and now carries around a surrogate doll, and the 17-year-old babysitter that comes to take care of this very life-like doll. The young woman goes along with the delusion because the mother looks like her own mom, whom she lost years earlier. It’s bizarre but should allow Biel to showing off her acting skills.

Rooney Mara was originally set to play the babysitter, but had to drop out when the start date of shooting got pushed back from 2011 to 2012.
