Jurassic World Trailer Tease – Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard enter the dinosaur park

November 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris-Pratt-Jurassic-WorldAfter a 14 year gap the Jurassic Park franchise is returning in 2015 with Jurassic World, which takes us inside the fully functioning dinosaur theme park that John Hammond always envisioned. Now we can take out first look, although a very brief one. It does show us some real footage though, including some dinos, along with stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt.

Along with the 15 second tease is the promise we’ll be getting a full trailer this Friday.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next installment of his groundbreaking Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley join the team as fellow producers.

‘Jurassic World was shot in 3D and will be released by Universal Pictures in June  12th, 2015.’ [Read more…]

Jack Whitehall Gets Around – Live From Wembley Arena (DVD Review)

November 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jack Whitehall
Director: Brian Klein
Running Time: 95 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: November 24th 2014 (UK)

Jack Whitehall is a bit of a Marmite comedian, although you do get the impression that his detractors are more annoyed that he’s young, good-looking and funny than being bothered about the edge of smugness that some accuse him of. He’s certainly come a long way in a short time, with this DVD documenting his Wembley gig, which was part of a huge arena tour that attracted audiences in the 10s of thousands. And he’s still only 26.

As with many young comedians who become a big headline act, there is undoubtedly a sense that he’s still learning his trade and coming into his own. That’s particularly clear by his reliance on ‘mistakes’, which probably work well when you’re watching him live, but on DVD it’s clear that these are not mistakes at all, or at least perhaps they were at one point during the tour but have now been woven into the act and are now very deliberate. Comedians making deliberate mistakes is extremely common, but it shouldn’t look like that’s what they’re doing. [Read more…]

Nina Conti Live – Dolly Mixtures (DVD Review)

November 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Starring: Nina Conti
Director: John Nicholson
Running Time: 65 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: November 24th 2014 (UK)

The sort of variety acts that were a staple of British TV up until the 1980s have largely disappeared (while Britain’s Got Talent may have brought it back to primetime, it still exists pretty much in isolation). And with the death of variety, ventriloquism pretty much disappeared too.

However in the last few years Nina Conti has slowly but surely been rising up the comedy ranks and becoming more of a household name. To be honest she ought to be more famous than she is, as her CV includes appearances in Christopher Guest movies and slew of TV shows, but it seems that with ventriloquism looked down on in many circles she’s had more difficulty pushing through than she perhaps should have. Russell Howard – Wonderbox Live (DVD Review)

November 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Russell Howard
Director: Peter Orton
Running Time: 87 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: November 24th 2014 (UK)

Thanks to Mock The Week and Good News, Russell Howard is now one of the UK’s biggest stand-up acts. While many comics have a shtick to help them stand out, Howard is a more traditional stand-up, telling funny stories and jokes, and finding the general silliness of life.

What help makes it work is that he comes across as such a friendly, slightly dorky but cool guy. He’s the sort of person where it feels like if you went out for a drink you’d have a good time and a lot of laughs, and what he manages to do with Wonderbox better than he has on previous DVDs, is fully pull the viewer into so that it truly feels you’re truly part of a fun night out. There’s none of the anger or snide-ness that so many comics trade in, as even when he’s making fun of something there’s a positive edge where he feels the need to point it out not specifically to tear it down but because he thinks there’s something better. Go-Go Boy Interrupted Eps. 4-7 – After facing down the new twinks, Danny tries to find a new direction

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

go-go-boy-interrupted-4-7If you haven’t been watching creator/star Jimmy Fowlie’s fun gay-themed web series Go-Go Boy Interrupted, it’s time to catch up. In Episode 1 he got fired from his go-go boy job after partying too hard and not being as young as he once was, then in Episodes 2 & 3 he starts to discover that life after dancing in a nightclub isn’t always going to be easy.

However while he’s no longer a go-go boy (although he does attempt to return) he’s still been living the lifestyle, but in Episodes 4 through 7 he finds his life in a bit of a downward spiral and he’s in need of a new life and a new direction. Perhaps it’s time for a bit of an epiphany… kind of.

Who thought hitting 30 would be so tough? (Although as many slightly older guys who’ve been to a gay bar have discovered, it is when you’re given your Harry Potter-style invisibility cloak, whether you want it or not).

Catch up with the first three episodes and then watch eps. 4 through 7 below! And let’s hope there’s more Go-Go Boy Interrupted soon, although as it’s based on Jimmy Fowlie’s life, perhaps he’s got more living to do first. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Chris Zylka Is Looking Hot For Photographer Dennis Golonka

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

chris-zylka-dennis-golonka-pic1-slideChris Zylka is a very hot guy, there is absolutely no doubt about that. Whether it’s in The Secret Circle, The Amazing Spider-man, showing off his morning wood in the gay-themed Kapow (see the pic of that below), or more recently in the hit TV show the Leftovers, he’s distractingly pretty.

Now he wants to show that even when he’s grunged up a little bit he can still look good, as part of a photoshoot for Un-titled Project by photographer Dennis Golonka.

You can take a look at some of the images from that below, along with some other shots of Zylka where he shows that being good-looking (and not being a stranger to the gym) certainly doesn’t hurt in Hollywood.

And the things that man can do with his ass! [Read more…]

Todrick Hall Offers Up An Aca-Amazing Pitch Perfect Parody

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bitch-perfectTodrick Hall has become a bit of a legend in some circles for his incredible parodies, whether it’s gay Disney Princes, Cinderella (which became Cinderfella), The Wizard Of Oz, Mean Girls or various other musical treats. Now he’s back with a pin sharp and very hot all-male take on Pitch Perfect – retitled Bitch Perfect.

While some may take issue with how it plays into gay stereotypes, it’s a lot of fun and forgive us, but we like the shirtless guys an awful lot.

In this take he isn’t making music with cups, he’s doing it with ‘some dude’s ass.’

With great music and a real sense of humour, take a look at the Bitch Perfect parody trailer below, which comes just a day after the trailer for Pitch Perfect 2. [Read more…]

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

WE_ARE_THE_GIANT_3D_DVDDirected by award-winning filmmaker Greg Barker, WE ARE THE GIANT – the inspirational and gripping account of the Arab Spring as told first-hand by people from across the Middle East and North Africa – will be available on DVD from 24 NOVEMBER 2014 and to celebrate, we have 3 DVDs to give away!

With remarkable and candid access, the film takes its audience inside the lives of six extraordinary people from very different walks of life, deciding they must stand up for what they believe is right, and take action. Each faces a brutal regime determined to crush them into submission, and each makes very different, painful choices that come to define themselves – and their struggles.

Activist Osama describes how his 21-year-old, Virginia-raised son, Muhannad, fought against Gaddafi’s forces in Benghazi. Syrian friends, Ghassan and Motaz remain committed to peaceful resistance even as their country descends into ever-more-hopeless violence. Sisters Maryam and Zainab become pivotal opposition figures while their father suffers in a Bahrain prison. Powerful, tragic and ultimately inspirational, these insightful stories, underscored by echoes from past resistance leaders, show the agonizing and universal dilemmas at the heart of all struggles for justice and freedom whilst illustrating what drives revolutionaries, revealing the astonishing sacrifices they must make to pursue their causes.

WE ARE THE GIANT is directed by an Award-winning filmmaker Greg Barker, a former war correspondent and produced by acclaimed documentary producer John Battsek (SEARCHING FOR SUGARMAN, RESTREPO, THE IMPOSTER, FIRE IN BABYLON). Strange Magic Trailer – George Lucas has come up with an animated jukebox musical

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

strange-magic-slideLucasfilm managed to keep the movie Strange Magic very quiet. It’s from a story by George Lucas, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and has been in the works for a long time. However nobody outside the production had heard much about it until some images were released last month, along with the surprise news that it was complete and would be out in the US at the end of January.

Now we’ve got a trailer, which shows that this isn’t just an animated movie, it’s also a Jukebox musical full of tunes from the last six decades.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Strange Magic” is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic, which created the CGI animation for 2011’s Academy Award®-winning film “Rango,” bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects.’

It’s due out January 23rd, 2015 in the US, but no UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Son Of A Gun Trailer – Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites head to prison

November 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Son-of-a-Gun-Pic1Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites are turning bad boys for the thriller Son of A Gun. They’re in prison. but they wanna break out and pull a big job – and from the evidence of this trailer, McGregor isn’t the nicest of convicts.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the criminal world, life is like a game of chess. To gain control, you have to stay a few moves ahead of your opponent. Lose that control, and you risk becoming a pawn in their very dangerous game. During a six-month stint inside a West Australian prison, rookie criminal JR (BRENTON THWAITES) meets the smart and enigmatic Brendan Lynch (EWAN McGREGOR). In exchange for protection on the inside, JR agrees to help Brendan get outside, hooking up with the influential Sam Lennox (JACEK KOMAN) to orchestrate a daring prison escape that frees Brendan, and inmates Sterlo (MATT NABLE) and Merv (EDDIE BAROO).

‘JR is rewarded for his efforts, and with a taste of the high life and flirtations with Sam’s beautiful girl Tasha (ALICIA VIKANDER), he gets sucked deeper into Brendan’s criminal world. But whose game is he playing?

‘Becoming a father-like mentor to JR, Brendan convinces him to join on another high stakes job – robbing a Kalgoorlie gold mine. But with millions of dollars at stake, it’s hard to tell whom JR can trust, and whose side each player is actually on. And with his feelings for Tasha increasing, and his faith in Brendan decreasing, JR must figure out his next move… before its check, mate.’

In the UK it will hit cinemas on January 30th, but it’ll be a DirectTV Exclusive from December 11th, with a cinema release on January 16th, 2015. [Read more…]
