It’s Chris Pratt & A Baby Dino In The First Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Footage

November 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s very short, but the first footage from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has arrived online, which shows as Chris Pratt back as Owen Grady, petting a very cute baby raptor. I suppose it’s a good thing Owen still has a good relationship with at least some of the dinos after the dramatic events of Jurassic World!

The footage was released on Twitter by Colin Trevorrow who directed Jurassic World and co-wrote and produces the sequel.

There’s still very little info on the exact plot, although the title suggests that there will still be major problems with the Park (we do know the film is returning to Isla Nublar, the original Jurassic Park/World island). Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will once more be having dinosaur troubles, with Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm also returning to the franchise.

It’s been suggested that the movie will further explore the weaponisation of dinosaurs through genetic manipulation, although that hasn’t been confirmed. J.A. Bayona directs, with a June 2018 release date set.

Take a look at the first footage below. [Read more…]

JJ Abrams Will Return To Write & Direct Star Wars: Episode IX

September 12, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Seemingly keen not to repeat the troubled productions of Rogue One and the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm moved last week to part ways with Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow before they got to the point where cameras were rolling. While many were surprised by the news, it’s been suggested that Trevorrow’s tendency to be inflexible about what he wanted to do, frustrated Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy, and so she fired him.

However, it would appear that they already had a replacement in mind, and it’s the man who so successfully relaunched the Star Wars franchise with The Force Awakens – JJ Abrams. He is not set to write and direct Episode IX, allowing him to complete the trilogy that’s suggested will bring the Skywalker saga to a close. It is fitting, as it’s believed the only reason he didn’t helm Episode VIII was because Disney wasn’t willing to delay the release to give him more time to put things together.

Kathleen Kennedy comments, “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”

It does mean though that the May 2019 release date currently set for Episode IX is now looking a little ambitious, The smart bet is that it will be delayed until at least December 2019 and may even arrive a little later. However, with Abrams back behind the wheel many fans will be happy to wait a little longer is it ensures we get something as entertaining as The Force Awakens.

The Book Of Henry Trailer – Colin Trevorrow moves from dinosaurs to drama/thriller territory

March 31, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Colin Trevorrow had a monster hit with Jurassic World, but rather than staying in the world of dinosaurs or immediately making another mega-budget movie, he decided to helm The Book Of Henry. Not the trailer has arrived, which starts off suggesting this will be a quirky family drama, before veering into surprisingly dark thriller territory.

The Henry of the title is an 11-year-old boy, living with his mother (Naomi Watts) and brother. He realises the girl living next door, Christina, may be in danger from her stepfather, and so starts writing a book about how he’s going to rescue her. Eventually his mother gets involved, but they know it will be difficult to do anything, as Christina’s stepdad is the police commissioner.

Jacob Tremblay, Sarah Silverman and Lee Pace also star. Take a look at the trailer below. The Book of Henry will be in cinemas this summer. [Read more…]

Sarah Silverman & Lee Pace Join Colin Trevorrow’s The Book Of Henry

September 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sarah-silvermanColin Trevorrow is a busy man. He’s just coming off the mega-success of Jurassic World, and he’s attached to direct Star Wars Episode IX. However before then he hopes to make the much smaller, The Book Of Henry, which has just added Sarah Silverman, Lee Pace, and Dean Norris to its cast, according to TheWrap.

They join Naomi Watts and child actors Jaeden Lieberher and Jacob Tremblay. Unfortunately though the new casting doesn’t come with any more info about the plot. All we know is that Gregg Hurwitz wrote the script, which has been described as “remarkable” and “a true original.”

Between Jurassic World and Star Wars, Trevorrow also hopes to make Stealing Time, which has added Pixels Timothy Dowling as a screenwriter. The film, which has been likened to a 1980s Amblin movie, is about a man who invents a time machine but gets lost in the past. His son and grandson have to fix the device in order to rescue him.

First Pic From Star Wars: Rogue One Emerges, While Colin Trevorrow Will Direct Episode IX

August 16, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-wars-rogue-one-pic1Having spent billions to buy Lucasfilm, it’s not surprising Disney wants to make their money back. They’re certainly investing vast amounts of money to make the most of their investment, and they’re doing so before the first new Star Wars film has even arrived in cinemas.

JJ Abrams’ The Force Awakens, which is Episode VII of the central story, will arrive later this year, and another film based in the Star Wars universe, Rogue One, is already in production. As well as that, standalone movies about the likes of a young Han Solo are already being developed, and screenwriters are hard at work on Episodes VIII & IX.

Rian Johnson has previously been announced to direct Episode VIII, and now Disney has confirmed rumours that Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow will take on Episode IX. While production won’t begin for a few years, Trevorrow is heading to Lucasfilm this year to begin working with artists and his fellow Star Wars directors. “Colin is someone I’ve been interested in working with ever since I saw Safety Not Guaranteed,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “The power of that film paired with the enormous success of Jurassic World speaks volumes about his abilities both as a storyteller and skilled filmmaker. We are thrilled to have such an incredible talent as Colin join our family and step into the Star Wars universe.”

It should mean he still has time to helm the Jurassic World sequel which is due out in 2017.

Alongside the announcement of Trevorrow, Disney have released the first official pic from Rogue One, as well as the logo. They also confirmed the cast, which will include Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.

Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) is directing that more, which is set shortly before the events of A New Hope, and follows a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy (AKA the plans that end up stowed away in R2D2 at the beginning of A New Hope). Take a look at the first pic from Rogue One above.

New Jurassic World Trailer – Chris Pratt looks exceedingly good tracking down Indominus Rex

April 20, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jurassic-world-poster3-slideWhen it was revealed Jurassic World would be set in a fully functioning dinosaur theme park many decided the film would be rubbish, but ever since the first images emerged many have changed their mind and decided it might actually be quite awesome.

That feeling certainly continues with this very cool new trailer which is full of dinos, plenty of harks ack to earlier movies as well as the suggestion the addition of genetically manipulated animals may be a very good idea – including the super-predator, Indominus Rex. We’ve also got three new posters you can look at below.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next instalment of his ground-breaking Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The screenplay is by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Trevorrow & Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley join the team as producers.’

The film is out in the UK on June 11th 2015. [Read more…]

Jurassic World Director Colin Trevorrow Plans An Intelligent Life

March 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Colin-TrevorrowIt’s still a few months until Colin Trevorrow hits cinemas with Jurassic World, but he’s already thinking of the future, as THR reports that he’s planning to direct a movie called Intelligent Life.

It’s not a brand new idea, as he was previously working on it with creative partner Derek Connolly under the title The Ambassador, but now it’s been completely reimagined and reworked.

It’s not known exactly how it was changed, but the Ambassador was about ‘a U.N. worker in a department that was to represent humankind in the event of alien contact. The man falls in love with a mysterious woman who turns out to be an alien.’

The tone is said to be more like Trevorrow’s earlier movie, Safety Not Guaranteed, than Jurassic World. It’s not known when it might shoot.

Jurassic World Super Bowl Spot – Chris Pratt shows off his velociraptor skills

February 2, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jurassic-world-poster1-slideWhen early trailers for movies come out, there’s often a lot of complaining about the special effects, with many not realising that due to the fact it’s months until the release the shots we’re getting aren’t in there finished form.

That was certain true of the Jurassic World trailer, but now the Super Bowl spot is here, which contains many of the same shots but the quality of the dinos has certainly improved. Hell, there’s even a shot which in the original trailer was just people running and screening, and now is full of pterodactyls.

There are also a few neat additions, such as Chris Pratt showing he’s figured out how to work with the velociraptors and stop them eating him, as well as glimpses of the movie’s fearsome genetically created beasty, the Indominus Rex.

Take a look below. [Read more…]

Jurassic World Teases The Fearsome Indominus Rex With New Pics

February 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

indominus-rex-jurassic-world-tease-slideThere were a lot of grumblings when it was first rumoured that Jurassic World would include a genetically engineered dinosaur and not just ones brought back to life from the past. However to my mind it’s always made sense – after all part of the point of the earlier movies is about meddling with nature, and (while dealt with more fully in Michael Crichton’s original novel), the dinos are a melange of modern and ancient DNA anyway.

Therefor ethere’s a logic to the scientists wanting to tinker further and see what beasts they can create on their own, especially once the Jurassic World park has opened and they’re looking for the cool new thing to attract the visitors. A terrifying, super-dino would be their version of a world-class, white knuckle rollercoaster in a traditional theme park.

However the makers have been keeping the creature under wraps and while there have been a few glimpses of the sort of thing we’ll be getting with images of tie-in merchandising etc. there still isn’t an official picture. Now though they’re teasing the ‘Idominus Rex’, via the film’s website with the teaser pics below both of its teeth and its massively fortified enclosure.

I think it’s safe to say it won’t be staying in that cage and all hell will break loose.

The website also offers this info on the creature: ‘We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered.

‘At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs. Indominus’ horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed.

‘Indominus’ roar is estimated to reach 140-160db—the same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 mph…while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare.’

Jurassic World is in cinemas this June. [Read more…]

Chris Pratt Gets Photobombed By A Velociraptor In A New Jurassic World Pic

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris Pratt & raptor in Jurassic WorldI still can’t get over how fricking hot Chris Pratt has become since he started working out (maybe there’s still hope for me), and that’s certainly true in this new pic, released by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow on Twitter as a festive treat.

While we might all like to get photobombed by a raptor, Trevorrow says, ‘Happy Holidays from the editing room. Do not try this at home.’

It’s an apt pic as in interviews Trevorrow has confirmed that Pratt’s character has been studying the raptors and has developed a relationship with them – they’re not friends and can’t be trained to do tricks, but it appears things may have moved on from the super-smart agents of destruction they’ve been in earlier movies. That would certainly explain the shot in the trailer where Pratt is riding a motorbike in amongst a pack of the dinosaurs.

You can take a look at that trailer here.
