Adam Sandler To Produce Bad Toys II

July 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adam Sandler has signed on to develop and produce a feature-length adaptation of Bad Toys II, a popular short film that uses a combination of live-action and CGI animation. You can take a look at the six-minute short below, which is a little bit Robot Chicken and a little bit Adam & Joe Show.

French animators Daniel Brunet and Nicolas Douste directed the short as an homage to Michael Bay’s Bad Boys II. The story starts out with a car chase using toys on a living room floor that keeps escalating with explosions and car crashes. This big-screen version for Columbia Pictures will centree on a grown man whose childhood imagination comes to life again while playing with his son’s toys. The man’s play becomes an homage to big-budget action spectacles.

Daniel Brunet and Nicolas Douste will executive produce this new adaptation. No screenwriter or director has been hired yet. (Source: THR)

New Hotel Transylvania Trailer – Adam Sandler & co. gets monstrous

June 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Genndy Tartakovsky has a massive reputation in animation circles thanks to Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars and The Powerpuff Girls, and he’s currently busy making his feature directorial debut, Hotel Transylvania, which is due to hit cinemas on October 12th. The film takes a whole bunch of the classic movie monsters – Dracula, Quasimodo, Frankenstein – on holiday. The last thing Simon Van Helsing, the youngest in a long line of monster hunters, wants to do is fall in love with Dracula’s daughter, Mavis. Upon discovering that they are natural enemies, the doomed couple attempt to bring peace between the warring monsters and humans.

Adam Sandler Developing Tonka Trucks Movie

June 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tonka Trucks have been around for 65 years, and now the Hasbro brand is planning to bring its Tonka toughness to the big screen in an animated motion picture to be produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Hasbro and Happy Madison Productions, according to THR.

The new Tonka project isn’t the only link between Sony Pictures and Hasbro, as they recently announced they’re developing movies based on Risk and Candy Land together. Candy Land is also a Happy Madison project.

Happy Madison is of course Adam Sandler’s production company, and while it isn’t now how personally he’ll be involved with the film, it’s believed he’ll produce the movie at least. Fred Wolf, who is a regular writer for Sandler (he wrote Grown Ups, amongst other others), is the man tasked with finding a way to make the Tonka products work as a film.

Adam Sandler In Talks To Replace Mark Wahlberg In Three Mississippi

June 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adam Sandler is in talks to replace Mark Wahlberg in the Warner Bros. football comedy Three Mississippi. The change has come about due to shifting schedules, which would have meant Wahlberg couldn’t make the film until next year, according to Vulture.

The film centres on two rival families who play a tackle football game every Thanksgiving Day, with Sandler now heading one family and Will Ferrell the other. The comedy was originally set to reunite The Other Guys director Adam McKay with stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. However, Wahlberg’s commitment to the Navy SEAL thriller Lone Survivor, led to his departure from Three Mississippi, when its shoot was delayed by several month.

Adam McKay was also forced to drop out after Paramount resurrected the comedy sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues in March. Sean Anders will now direct from a screenplay by John Morris, Scott Silveri, and Robert Carlock. Production will likely begin this autumn.

Taylor Lautner In Talks For Grown Ups 2

April 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s a big swing from 18 months ago when Taylor Lautner fever made it look like the young actor was going to take over Hollywood and he was asking massive amounts of money despite his lack of experience, as now the Twilight star is in talks for a supporting role in Grown Ups 2 for Sony Pictures and director Dennis Dugan.

THR has the news, but little is known about the part he will play, although it is said to be an important and fun role, which sees his character squaring off with Adam Sandler’s Lenny Feder. The actor does have some comedy under his belt, with roles in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl during his pre-werewolf career.

Original Grown Ups cast members Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, and Maya Rudolph, are all expected to return for the seuqel, although it isn’t certain when it will shoot.

Adam Sandler Producing Summer School Remake

April 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If it were me, I’d probably leave a few days between sweeping the board at the Razzies and announcing my company was going to remake an utterly unmemorable comedy most people had forgotten existed, but then I’m not Adam Sandler. THR reports he’s signed on to produce a remake of the 1987 comedy Summer School for Paramount Pictures.

The original Summer School starred Mark Harmon as a teacher whose vacation plans are ruined when he is forced to teach an English class filled with an unruly group of misfits. Kirstie Alley and Courtney Thorne-Smith also starred. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Or not. Sandler has no plans on starring in the project at this time.

The film is currently seeking writers. Producers Jordan Kerner, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci were once attached to the project, but they are no longer involved.

Adam Sandler Breaks The Razzie Record With 10 ‘Awards’

April 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s safe to say that this year’s Razzie voters are not Adam Sandler fans. The actor already broke Eddie Murphy’s record for having the most nominations in a year, and now he’s gone one better (worse?) by sweeping the board and receiving a record 10 gongs for filmic awfulness.

Admittedly not every single award went to him personally, but it does mean Jack & Jill, which Sandler both produced and starred in, is the first film in the 32-year history of the Razzies to sweep all 10 dishonourable categories. Sandler won for both Worst Actor and Worst Actress, an impressive feat in itself, while co-stars Al Pacino and David Spade also picked up gongs in the worst supporting actor and actress categories.

It’s actually a pretty impressive achievement and Sandler ought to be oddly proud, while feeling extremely ashamed at the same time!

While the Razzies are normally given out the day before the Oscars, this year it was changed to nominations were announced as Oscar time, with the winners announced on April Fools Day. Voting was also expanded from just Golden Raspberry members to the users of the Rotten Tomatoes websites, so it really was a popular vote deciding Sandler’s film was the absolute worst!

That’s My Boy Trailer

March 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I’m pretty much immune to the charms of Adam Sandler, but he’s undoubtedly popular, as even his movies that are considered flops generally turn a profit when all is said and done. To my eyes, even the trailer for That’s My Boy is painful to view, but it’ll undoubtedly be a big hit. In the movie Sandler plays an absent father who moves in with his son right before his wedding and soon begins sparring with his daughter-in-law, as well as causing chaos in everyone’s lives. It’s due out in June.
