Crush Of The Day: Alexander Skarsgard Looks Hot Even When Beaten To A Pulp

June 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alexander-skarsgard05-slide
Most of the time when you see someone after a fight, they don’t look too good. Even the prettiest of people go down a few notches on the looks front if they’re covered in bruises. Nut somehow Alexander Skargard pulls it off – no doubt helped by the fact it’s just make-up and he’s got a top photographer in the form of Matthew Brookes to take the pics.

The images are attached to a new profile of the True Blood actor over on WWD.com, which is well worth a read if you have the time.

And to get you in the mood, click below to enlarge more hot images of Skarsgard getting his boxing on below. [Read more…]

Chances Of Seeing Alexander Skargard In A Loincloth Dim As Tarzan Is Delayed

April 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alexander-skarsgardDavid Yates made Warner Bros a lot of money with his Harry Potter movie, but that doesn’t mean he gets the automatic greenlight for whatever he wants to do next. He’s been planning a new take on Tarzan, with Alexander Skargard set to don the loin cloth, with rumours Jessica Chastain could be his Jane.

However now Deadline reports that Warner has put the brakes on the project, due to concerns over the film’s budget, casting, and ability to shoot this year. The movie isn’t dead yet, but its back to the drawing board to see if it can be made cheaper and more in line with what the money men want.

Some films do come back from setbacks like this, such as Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger which got its shoot delayed while they trimmed the budget from $250 million to $215 million. However other films such as Alex Proyas’ Paradise Lost, Jaume Collet-Serra’s Akira, and David Dobkin’s Arthur & Lancelot got completely cancelled after the studio put the brakes on.

At the moment, the production office is being closed down due to a “high budget they just couldn’t reduce to the level that made the studio comfortable.” It’s also noted that Jamie Foxx is being courted for a major role, but that a deal has not yet been made. The project could still come back to life and shoot in 2014, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Will Jessica Chastain Be Jane To Alexander Skarsgard’s Tarzan?

March 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

It’s been quite a while since we heard anything about Warner’s planned Tarzan reboot. Harry Potter director David Yates is attached to helm, and several month ago it was rumoured Alexander Skarsgard was the first choice for the main role (although it hasn’t been revealed if he’s officially signed on).

Now the New York Post suggests the movie may have found its Jane in the form of Jessica Chastain. It isn’t known if an offer has been issued to the actress as yet, but it appears there are talks between the two sides.

The film will follow Tarzan after he’s left the jungle and come to England, but he’s then sent back when Queen Victoria sends him on a mission to investigate a conflict in the Congo. Samuel L. Jackson is said to be in talks to play George Washington Williams, a Civil War veteran who joins forces with Tarzan to stop a nefarious warlord.

David Yates is directing from a screenplay by Stephen Sommers and Stuart Beattie.

What Maisie Knew Trailer – Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan & Alexander Skarsgard have custody issues

March 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The issues surrounding children getting caught up in the relationship dramas of divorced parents it something film has conspicuously steered clear of (with notable exception such as Kramer Vs. Kramer), largely because it’s such a difficult and emotive issue. However What Maisie Knew – a modern adaptation of a Henry James story – tackles this head on.

It looks at a seven-year-old, caught up in the drama between her aging rock star mother (Julianne Moore) and art dealer dad (Steven Coogan) after their divorce. However the film doesn’t just delve into children and their parents, but also what happens when new people (Alexander Skargard, Joanna Vanderham) come into those parents’ lives and the difficulty of working out what their role is.

It looks like it could be a really good movie, which may well be going for Oscars, as it’s due for release this coming autumn. [Read more…]

Disconnect Trailer – Jason Bateman gets a bit dramatic & has tech troubles

March 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I can’t help but wonder if Jason Bateman has been having a few problems with technology, which he’s now exploring on-screen. He recently starred in Identity Thief, where he has to deal with Melissa McCarthy stealing his details and pretending to be him. And now we’ve got a trailer for Disconnect, an ensemble drama all about the dangers of modern technology, which Bateman also stars in.

The movie follows ‘A hard-working lawyer, attached to his cell phone, can’t find the time to communicate with his family. A couple is drawn into a dangerous situation when their secrets are exposed online. A widowed ex-cop struggles to raise a mischievous son who cyber-bullies a classmate. An ambitious journalist sees a career-making story in a teen that performs on an adult-only site. They are strangers, neighbors and colleagues and their stories collide in this riveting dramatic thriller about ordinary people struggling to connect in today’s wired world.’

No UK date is set yet for this intriguing looking film, but it’s out in the US on April 12th. It’s certainly something more dramatic that we’re used to from Bateman, who usually sticks to comedy.

Alexander Skarsgard Goes Sexy Slow-mo In A New Calvin Klein Film

February 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the world of the web, brands are always looking for new was to promote themselves. Calvin Klein has decided that a good way would be to get Alexander Skarsgard and model Suvi Kopenen to smoulder in slow-motion for a 10-minute film from Fabien Baron.

To be honest it’s all a bit poncey and keeps suggesting it’s actually about something more than people wandering around in very expensive clothes (when it’s not), but Skarsgard is certainly looking hot.

It’s not Alexander’s first contact with the brand as last year he became the face of Calvin Klein’s fragrance, Encounter. Now he’s causing ‘Provocations’ in this film, so take a look above.

David Yates’ Tarzan Eyes Alexander Skarsgard & Samuel L. Jackson

November 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last week is was revealed that Harry Potter director David Yates was planning on direct a new version of Tarzan for Warner Bros. Things seem to be moving quickly, as the filmmaker is already looking at actors to play the title character, with Variety reporting that Alexander Skarsgard is the current frontrunner, with Samuel L. Jackson in talks for a supporting role.

Last week it was suggested that Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam were the top contenders for the role along with Skarsgard, although it seems the studio and director has now decided on the True Blood star. A formal offer has not been issued to the actor as of yet. Skarsgard’s 6’4″ frame and physique are believed to be factors that lead to the studio’s decision.

Variety says Skarsgard ‘would play John Clayton III, known around the world as the famous “ape man” Tarzan. Years after he’s re-assimilated into society, he’s asked by Queen Victoria to investigate the goings-on in the Congo. Tarzan teams with an ex-mercenary named George Washington Williams to save the Congo from a fierce warlord who controls a massive diamond mine.

‘Samuel L. Jackson is being eyed to play Williams, a Civil War veteran eager to redeem himself for his part in the massacre of Native Americans.’

It isn’t known when it might shoot.

Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill And More Eyed For David Yates’ Tarzan

November 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David Yates was a ridiculously busy man making four Harry Potter movies over the space of four years, but since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 he’s taken his time to plot his follow-up. While there have been various things in the works he’s bided his time. Now it appears his next film will be a new take on Tarzan, as Vulture reports that Yates has signed on the dotted line to direct Tarzan for Warner Bros.

Things are already moving forward as the director is also meeting with actors such as Henry Cavill, Charlie Hunnam, and Alexander Skarsgård for the title role. There’s no news on who might be the frontunner though. Warner Bros. is also apparent interested in bringing on Tom Hardy to star in the title role, after his performances in the studio’s blockbusters such as Inception and The Dark Knight Rises.

This is the same version of Tarzan that Footloose director Craig Brewer signed on to helm in June 2011, but he has since dropped out. The character was created by Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912, and has been the basis of numerous movie and TV adaptation. Constantin Film also has its own mo-cap Tarzan project starring Kellan Lutz.
