Modern Family’s Ariel Winter Isn’t Ready To Forgive Nash Grier For Homophobia

ariel-winter-nash-grierWhile Nash Grier has gained a lot of fans (as Towleroad points out he has 2.4 Vine followers, 5.25 million Twitter followers and 4.6 million Youtube subscribers), it looked like his career as an internet star was in danger of coming crashing down around him after an old video of him using the word ‘fag’ in a particularly obnoxious way resurfaced.

He quickly apologised and made a few efforts to atone, such as posing for a NoH8 phot. Many of his fans soon forgot, despite numerous other problematic things that have spouted from his mouth, suggesting he hasn’t really thought about what he’s doing at all, and only care when someone calls him out on it.

One person who’s certainly not ready to give him a free pass is Modern Family star Ariel Winter, who seems to have initially started thinking about Nash last weekend due to the emergence of the hastag #FavNashVid. She wrote on Twitter: ‘#FavNashVid that one time when he was just super homophobic and ignorant? #whydoyouhavefans.’

She then posted a longer note explaining why she doesn’t think we should just overlook Grier’s indiscretions:

Mr. Peabody & Sherman started life in the late-50s as part of the Rocky & Bulwinkle cartoon series. However they soon became popular in their own right with their mix of the silly and the educational. I don’t know whether the characters are still that popular in the US, but in the UK few kids will know them, which made it a surprise when DreamWorks Animation announced they were making a Peabody and Sherman film.

The idea behind the film is that Mr. Peabody is a super-smart, Nobel Prize-winning dog who has adopted a human boy, Sherman. Peabody’s greatest scientific accomplishment is his time machine, the WABAC, which he uses to take Sherman all across history, introducing him to the great figures of the past. [Read more…]

A Thousand Words Trailer

When Eddie Murphy reads a script, something different must happen in his head to what goes on in everyone else’s. Indeed is someone told you this trailer was actually a spoof taking the piss out of dumb Hollywood movies, you’d probably believe it. In the film Jack McCall (Murphy) is a fast-talking literary agent who can close any deal, any time, any way. He has set his sights on New Age guru Dr. Sinja for his own selfish purposes. But Dr. Sinja is on to him, and Jack’s life comes unglued after a magical Bodhi tree mysteriously appears in his backyard. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the tree and he realizes that when the last leaf falls, both he and the tree are toast. Words have never failed Jack McCall, but now he’s got to stop talking and conjure up some outrageous ways to communicate or he’s a goner. And yes, that premise is as stupid as it sounds. A Thousand Words is due in cinemas next March.
