After a bit of a delay, Ron Howard’s In The Heart Of The Sea is on its way, with its tale of seamen facing disaster in a true-tale that’s previously inspired Herman Melville to write Moby Dick.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
‘“In the Heart of the Sea” stars Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers,” “Rush”) as the vessel’s veteran first mate Owen Chase; Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) as its inexperienced Captain, George Pollard; Cillian Murphy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) as second mate Matthew Joy; and Ben Whishaw (“Skyfall”) as novelist Herman Melville, whose inquiries into the event 30 years later helped bring the story to light.’

I actually spotted Ben Whishaw during the filming of London, when he was shooting a scene on the platforms at London’s Paddington Station. Now we get out first proper taste of the TV drama with a trailer.

Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall has just become the first Bond theme ever to reach number 1 on the UK single’s charts, and it’s just a few weeks until Spectre reaches cinemas, hoping to match the gargantual success of Skyfall.
The Lobster is the highly anticipated English language debut of internationally acclaimed Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, who thrilled and shocked audiences worldwide with Dogtooth (2009) and Alps (2011), and is set for release across the UK and Ireland on 16th October 2015.
Nobody was expecting Skyfall to join the billion dollar box office club, but when it did it ensured the 007 got a massive shot in the arm and there was huge amounts of anticipation for the next instalment. The film, Spectre, reunites Daniel Craig with director Sam Mendes.
The London Film Festival may not be until October, but there’s been a very early announcement of the opening film, as Suffragette will kick off the event with its European Premiere on October 7th. Alongside that news came the trailer for film.
Ben Whishaw is getting involved in a lot of espionage this year, as he’s reprising his role as Q in the James Bond movie Spectre, and he’s also heading to TV for the five-part series London Spy, based on a script by Child 44’s Tom Rob Smith.
