Christian Bale & Bradley Cooper In Talks For American Bullsh*t

April 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With David O’Russell putting the finishing touches on The Silver Linings Playbook, there’s been a lot of interest in what he’ll move onto next. He’s got quite a few movies in the works, but now it appear American Bullshit has moved towards the front of the pack, with Deadline reporting Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper are now attached to star and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures is putting together a deal to finance the movie.

Eric Singer’s based on a true story script, which has been around for a while and at one point was going to be helmed by Ben Affleck, centres on a con artist who goes to work for the FBI to bust open a wide-ranging conspiracy case, which reaches from Washington D.C. to Atlantic City. The sting ended up taking down several dodgy US congressmen.

The $30-$40 million movie will hopefully shoot in January, although with O’Russell having deals on several other pictures too, it’s likely something’s going to have to move around if they’re going to keep to that schedule.

First Look At Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence In Serena

April 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are busy people, and recently they’ve been busy doing things together, as the pair both star in two upcoming projects – David O’Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook and Susanne Bier’s Serena. The first pic from the latter has now shown up online, via FirstShowing, with the duo looking suitably as if they’ve just fallen out of the Great Depression, and Lawrence wearing something dead around her neck!

The film, based on Ron Rash’s book, takes place in 1929 North Carolina, where young newlyweds George and Serena Pemberton (Cooper and Lawrence) move to build a timber empire. Their ambition is all-consuming and dangerous – neither is afraid to kill or destroy anyone who opposes them – but they’re turned against each other when Serena finds she can’t bear children and then launches a deadly vendetta against her husband’s illegitimate son. No release date is yet set.

Here There Be Monsters For Jaume Collet-Serra & Bradley Cooper

April 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For quite a while Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have developing Brian Hegeland’s script, Here There Be Dragon. It appears they’re now really keen to move forward, as Vulture reports Unknown and Orphan helmer Jaume Collet-Serra is in talks to direct, with Bradley Cooper in line to be offered the lead role.

If Cooper does decide to sign on, he’d play real-life Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones (but set before his most famous war exploits). He’s wrongly stripped of his British naval commission and then get hired by a shipping magnate to investigate the disappearance of merchant ships in the Atlantic, with tales that they’re being attacked by a giant squid – although it could be a giant sea serpent at work.

Paul Greengrass & Robert Zemeckis sniffed around the project last summer but since since moved on, as has Brad Bird, who flirted with helming the movie in February.

Collet-Serra was set to helm Warner’s live-action Akira before that got put on hold/shut down. It’s not clear whether that film is completely dead and so they’re giving him Here There Be Dragons instead, or if Akira may still be revived at some point.

Hangover Part III Set For May 2013

March 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We knew it was almost certainly coming (Warner put it into development before Part II came out), but now The Hangover Part III has been officially announced and a release date set for May 14th, 2013, which is Memorial Day weekend in the US.

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis will reprise their roles as Phil, Stu and Alan, aka ‘the Wolfpack’. Director Todd Phillips commented, “I’m so excited to embark on another Hangover film with Bradley, Ed and Zach. We’re going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned. It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions.”

Phillips is therefore promising this will be the last, although if its even half the success of the previous movie, it’s likely Warner will want to find some way of continuing. Todd is writing the screenplay with Craig Mazin, who also collaborated with him on the screenplay for The Hangover Part II. Production on the film is projected to begin in September 2012.

Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper Re-teaming For Serena

January 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper must have had fun on the set of David O’Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook, as Vulture reports they’re planning to team up again for an adaptation of Ron Rash’s book Serena.

According to Vulture, ‘Serena takes place in 1929 North Carolina, where young newlyweds George and Serena Pemberton move to build a timber empire. Their ambition is all-consuming and dangerous – neither is afraid to kill or destroy anyone who opposes them – but they’re turned against each other when Serena finds she can’t bear children and then launches a deadly vendetta against her husband’s illegitimate son.’

It certainly sounds like there’ll be plenty of high drama.

An adaptation has been mooted for a couple of years, with Darren Aronofsky having previously sniffed around to direct and Angelina Jolie flirting with starring. Now Susanne Bier (Brothers, After The Wedding, In A Better World) will helm, with shooting set to begin soon.

Wolf Pack Closing In On The Hangover Part III

January 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With the two Hangover movies grossing over $1 billion worldwide, it’s not suprising Warner Bros. wants more, but they’re going to have to dig deeper into their pockets to ensure The Hangover Part III happens. Now THR reveals stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms are asking for $15 million apiece to reprise their roles in The Hangover Part III.

It is believed that the deals are being finalised, which includes a back end percentage on top of the $15 million, and the actors will likely get what they requested. Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms made a little under $1 million each for The Hangover. They got a decent pay bump to $5 million for The Hangover Part II, but with bonuses based on the film’s performance, each of the actors ended up making in the mid-teens from the movie. For a third they want $15 million up front, which ensures they’ll do very well even if the film’s a flop.

Back in December, Bradley Cooper revealed that The Hangover Part III will likely start shooting in September, although it seems the studio wants to get started earlier then that. Insiders claim Warner Bros. wants to go into production this summer, so the comedy sequel can hit a Memorial Day 2013 release. Little is known about the story, but it is said to be centered around The Wolf Pack’s home city of Los Angeles.

Secret Man Of Steel Cameo For Bradley Cooper?

January 4, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

At the moment this should be treated as a rumour that’s likely to turn out to be false, but it’s worth mentioning just in case there’s some truth in it somewhere. If it is true, it’s also a bit of a SPOILER, so if you don’t want to know, stop reading now.

With Paradise Lost getting delayed (and possibly cancelled) Bradley Cooper is rumored to have joined the Superman: Man of Steel cast for a very intriguing cameo role. However while Comic Book News says it’s happening, it hasn’t been confirmed (or denied).

According to this new rumour, Cooper is coming in to play Lex Luthor. The villain is known to have been in early versions of the Man Of Steel scripts, but was removed, leaving General Zob as the main bad guy. Now it’s being said that he’ll turning up briefly in the movie, setting up Lex to be a major player in any sequels.

As mentioned, treat this as rumour for now, but it could be quite cool if it does happen.

Paradise Lost Gets Put On Hold Due To Costs

December 13, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Sometimes I feel like a prophet. Ever since it was announced Paradise Lost was being lined up for a big budget movie version, I’ve been waiting for the moment the studio would get cold feet about spending loads of cash on a massive movie based on a 17th Century poem, in which Satan/Lucifer is one of the most sympathetic characters.

Now that day is here, as while director Alex Proyas has already cast the likes of Bradley Cooper, Benjamin Walker, Casey Affleck, Rufus Sewell and Djimon Hounsou and was planning on shooting early next year, the project has now been put on hold due to worries over the costs. Deadline reports the film will no longer shoot in January while the producers look at ways of trimming the budget.

Apparently it was when the budget went past $120 million that the money men started getting antsy, and so they’re not looking at ways to make it cheaper. Rather like with The Lone Ranger, which found itself in a very similar situation earlier this year, this won’t be the end for the movie, with everyone busily rejigging their schedules in the next few days.

Is Bradley Cooper Really The World’s Sexiest Man? – A Retrospective

November 17, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Every year People magazine announces who they think if the Sexiest Man Aive, and the recipient of that accolade for 2011 has just been revealed as Bradley Cooper, who follows in the footsteps of the likes of George Clooney, Johnny Depp and last year’s winner, Ryan Reynolds. It’s been a slightly controversial choice, as some disagree that he’s the hottest guy around – many feel Ryan Gosling was robbed – and so we decided to put together this Bradley Cooper photo retrospective so we can decide for ourselves just how hot he is!

He’s an odd one really, as sometimes he looks cutely nerdy and geeky, and then when the camera catches him from certain angle, he’s truly classically beautiful. It doesn’t hurt either that he looks good with his top off (as he has to prove in pretty much every movie he’s in).

But without further ado, click the images below to enlarge them and enjoy the career of Bradley Cooper, from Wet Hot American Summer (where he played gay) to Limitless, via Alias, Midnight Meat Train and, of course, The Hangover. [Read more…]

Bradley Cooper Eyes Fight Before Christmas

November 15, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Anne Fletcher has had significant hits with Step Up, 27 Dresses and The Proposal, but Hollywood is still a tough place for female directors, so it’s taken her a while to get more films off the ground. She’s now got My Mother’s Curse, starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand, in post-production, and Variety says she’s just signed on to helm the cheesily titled The Fight Before Christmas.

Due Date writer Adam Sztykiel wrote the script, with Shawn Levy producing. The next step is to find a cast. Bradley Cooper has already been offered the male lead in the movie, but it isn’t known if he will accept.

There’s no clue either as to what the movie is about, other than that presumably there will be some fighting and it’ll happen before Christmas.
