Hugh Laurie Getting Villainous In RoboCop
Now that House has finished on TV, Hugh Laurie can do what British actors are supposed to do in American entertainment – play villains! THR reports that he’s now in talks to play the bad guy in MGM’s planned remake of Robocop.
The actor will play the villainous CEO of OmniCorp, the conglomerate responsible for building the title character, played by Joel Kinnaman. The cast also includes Gary Oldman as an OmniCorp scientist, Samuel L. Jackson as a TV mogul, and Abbie Cornish as Joel Kinnaman’s wife, who still thinks he was killed in action.
José Padilha is directing from a screenplay by Joshua Zetumer, with shooting slated to begin later this summer in Toronto.
