We Don’t Belong Here Trailer – Anton Yelchin play a young gay man in one of his final roles

May 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It was a genuine shock when young Anton Yelchin was killed in a tragic accident last year. Now his final roles are making it to the screen, including We Don’t Belong Here (previously titled The Greens Are Gone), which has recently been released on DVD/VoD in the US.

The very simple official synopsis says, ‘The matriarch of a dysfunctional family is pushed to her tipping point when her son goes missing.’. That doesn’t explain though the the son, Max (Yelchin), has plenty of problem, as he’s bipolar and self-medicating on drugs, as well as dealing with PTSD following a car accident. He’s also gay, something his mother (Catherine Keener) doesn’t approve of. Following Max’s dissapearance, family secrets start to spill out.

The likes of Riley Keough, Maya Rudolph, Justin Chatwin, Cary Elwes and Molly Shannon also star. Take a look at the trailer below. (H/T NNN) [Read more…]

Maladies Trailer – James Franco turns troubled actor in a new movie

February 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

James Franco is a very busy man, writing, directing and/or starring in more movies than most actors could humanly fit in. Now the trailer for a new one has arrived, Maladies, where he plays a troubled actor.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A daring new film from internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Carter, Maladies charts the struggles of an unstable former soap opera star (James Franco) in 1960’s New York as he tries to restart his floundering creative career. Hoping to find clarity and new purpose as a writer, he holes up with his eccentric sister at the seaside home of their best friend (Catherine Keener). But as he disappears further into his own mind, reality begins to slip through his grasp. Featuring an award-winning ensemble, including David Straithairn and Alan Cumming, Maladies is a heartfelt but defiantly unconventional exploration of the creative mind.’

It’s out in the US in March.

Cee Lo Green On For Can A Song Save Your Life?

June 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Cee Lo Green is going to the movies, as it’s been announced that he’s joined the cast of Can A Song Save Your Life?, from Once director John Carney. He joins a cast that also includes Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Hailee Steinfeld, Adam Levine and Catherine Keener.

In the film, seduced by dreams of making it in the big city, Gretta (Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend (Levine) move to New York to pursue their passion for music. She’s heartbroken when he dumps her for the fame and fortune of a big solo contract, leaving her all on her own. Left to sleep on the couch of an old friend, Gretta reluctantly agrees to play an open mic night before departing the city for home. Her world takes a turn for the better when a down-on-his-luck record producer (Ruffalo) stumbles upon her singing and is immediately captivated by her raw talent and inspiring authenticity – they may be each other’s last chance to turn their lives around.

Recruiting street musicians, amateurs, and professionals borrowed from the posse of Troublegum (Green), a hip-hop artist he discovered years ago, Dan throws himself into producing for Gretta. Catherine Keener Joins Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips

February 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Catherine Keener is always a good addition to a cast, and Paul Greengrass knows that, as he’s just signed her up for his upcoming movie, Captain Phillips. Keener joins Tom Hanks, who’s been attached to the movie for several months.

The project is based on the true story of Maresk Alabama captain Richard Phillips (Hanks), who sacrificed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates, so he could save the lives of his crew. He spent three days in captivity before being rescued by a Navy SEAL team in 2009.

Keener will play Phillips’ wife, Andrea Phillips, who never lost faith that her husband would survive the arduous ordeal.

Paul Greengrass is directing Captain Phillips from a screenplay by Billy Ray, which is adapted from Richard Phillips’ own book, A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea. It’s not certain when the movie will shoot, but it’ll probably be fairly soon, as a US release date of March 22nd, 2013 has already been set. (Source: Variety)
