Lost River Trailer – Best look yet at Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut

February 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lost-river-matt-smithLost River looks like an intriguing and somewhat strange movie, which isn’t too surprising for what is Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut. There’s still a lot of people who are keen to see it, even if it’s been getting rather mixed reports from film festivals.

Now the first proper trailer has arrived, so we can take a look at what all the fuss is about.

The film has been described as being ‘Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, BILLY, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while BONES, her eighteen-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.’

It’s all a little peculiar, but the likes of Christina Hendricks, Iain De Caestecker, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith certainly seem to be having fun with it.

Lost River will reach the US on April 10th and the UK on April 24th. [Read more…]

Lost River Teaser Trailer – Matt Smith gets muscly & Iain De Caestecker watches in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut

May 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Matt Smith has been working out and this first teaser for Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut wants to prove it – after all, Smith spends a good chunk of it repeating ‘Look at my muscles’ over and over again.

It’s a little odd, slightly hyper-real, a bit ethereal and very intriguing, even if it doesn’t go that deep into the more fantastical elements of the movie.

Iain De Caestecker, who co-stars and is the other main presence in the trailer, told Empire last year, “There’s my character, Bones, his mother and his younger brother. There’s also a girl next door played by Saoirse Ronan, called Rat. It’s about this family living in a town called Lost River, which is perhaps a place that was once full of family and happiness and love, and is now this town that’s slowly descending into a place without any hope. This family is holding onto the foundations of their house and everything they think they need to hold onto.” [Read more…]

First Pic From Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut, Lost River, Debuts

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

LOST-RIVER-pic1-1Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut went into production under the title How To Catch A Monster, but now it’s known as Lost River, and it will be making its debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

Ahead of that comes the first picture from the film, featuring Christina Hendricks going into a rather ominous looking building.

Iain De Caestecker, who co-stars in the movie told Empire last year, “There’s my character, Bones, his mother and his younger brother. There’s also a girl next door played by Saoirse Ronan, called Rat. It’s about this family living in a town called Lost River, which is perhaps a place that was once full of family and happiness and love, and is now this town that’s slowly descending into a place without any hope. This family is holding onto the foundations of their house and everything they think they need to hold onto.”

Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, Barbara Steele and Eva Mendes also star.

In Fear Trailer – Alice Englert, Allen Leech and Iain De Caestecker get intense

September 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We enjoyed In Fear when we caught it at Frightfest, and now Studiocanal has released a new trailer, giving us all a fresh look at the movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Starring Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures, Ginger and Rosa), Allen Leech (Downton Abbey) and Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), ‘In Fear’ is an intense psychological horror about a young couple’s fight to make it through the night. Home invasion but in a car. In real-time. Tom and Lucy are trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, terrorised by an unseen tormentor hell-bent on exploiting their worst fears – fear of the dark, fear of the unknown, fear of themselves.’

Iain De Caestecker On For Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut, How To Catch A Monster

June 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Iain-De-CaesteckerIain De Caestecker is certainly doing well for himself, jumping from UK TV in the likes of The Fades to America with the upcoming Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD. Now he’s found the time to fit in the male lead in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster.

Gosling has been after the young Brit for quite a while, but it took a while to sort out timings, due to the fact he has to fit it around his SHIELD commitments, which is currently getting episodes in the can before it’s early autumn TV debut.

Variety reports that How to Catch a Monster is ‘set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city and centered on a single mother of two who is swept into a macabre fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.’ Christina Hendricks is set to play the mother, with De Caestecker as her son. Matt Smith, Saoirse Ronan, Ben Mendelsohn, Barbara Steele and Eva Mendes also star.

The film has already started shooting.

S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series Gets Iain De Caestecker & Elizabeth Henstridge

November 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series is certainly coming together. The pilot already has Ming-Na and Clark Gregg attached, and now THR reports that two British actors have signed up for this expansion of the Marvel universe, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker.

The actors will play Agent Gemma Simmons and Agent Leo Fitz, who both came up through the academy together and spend a majority of their time with each other. While that might sound like a recipe for romance, a recent character breakdown describes their relationship as being more like siblings, and they spend much of their time bickering. Gemma is a science expert, with Leo specialising in technology.

This will be Henstridge’s first major mainstream role, although she has filmed a role in the upcoming Tooting Broadway and appeared in a couple of episode of Hollyoaks. Caestecker is best known for The Fades and Young James Herriot and will shortly be seen in the mini-series, The Secret Of Crickley Hall.

Joss Whedon will direct the pilot episode S.H.I.E.L.D, and is also writing the pilot script with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. It isn’t known when production will begin on this highly-anticipated pilot.
