The Neon Demon Trailer – Nicolas Winding Refn teams with Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Keanu Reeves & Christina Hendricks

April 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

neon-demon-pic1Nicolas Winding Refn has been working on Neon Demon for several years, but he’s been keeping details about the exact plot to himself. Even with this first trailer, things aren’t exactly made clear, but it does look rather intriguing.

IMDB says of the film, ‘When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.’

Refn has previously said of the movie, “One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures.”

The likes of Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks star. [Read more…]

dark-places-slideAfter the success of Gone Girl it was no surprise that Hollywood went looking or more from the novel’s author, Gillian Flynn. A film based on Dark Places is now on its way, starring Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult.

And the trailer has arrived!

The movie is about Libby Day (Charlize Theron), who at the age of seven witnessed her mother and two sisters being murdered in The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas. After surviving this horrific ordeal, she testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben (Corey Stoll), was the killer. However, as an adult she begins to believe that someone else may have been responsible.

Hoult plays the true-crime obsessive who ends up getting Libby to look back into her past.

The film is out in the US August 7th, 2015. [Read more…]

Keanu Reeves & Christina Hendricks On For Nicolas Winding Refn’s Neon Demon

February 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

keanu-reevesThe cast for Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming horror tale Neon Demon is coming together. He recently added Elle Fanning and Abbey Lee, and now Variety reports that it’s been revealed at the Berlin Film Festival, that Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone and Bella Heathcote will also star.

Unfortunately though the announcement of new cast members didn’t come with many details about the plot or the characters anyone will play. All that’s known is that it’s a female-driven horror tale set in Los Angeles.

The movie will start shooting March 30th in LA and should hit cinemas in 2016. That’s all the details we know, but hopefully Refn – the man behind Drive, Bronson and Only God Forgives – has something interesting up his sleeve.

Lost River Trailer – Best look yet at Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut

February 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lost-river-matt-smithLost River looks like an intriguing and somewhat strange movie, which isn’t too surprising for what is Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut. There’s still a lot of people who are keen to see it, even if it’s been getting rather mixed reports from film festivals.

Now the first proper trailer has arrived, so we can take a look at what all the fuss is about.

The film has been described as being ‘Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, BILLY, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while BONES, her eighteen-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.’

It’s all a little peculiar, but the likes of Christina Hendricks, Iain De Caestecker, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith certainly seem to be having fun with it.

Lost River will reach the US on April 10th and the UK on April 24th. [Read more…]

First Pic From Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut, Lost River, Debuts

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

LOST-RIVER-pic1-1Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut went into production under the title How To Catch A Monster, but now it’s known as Lost River, and it will be making its debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

Ahead of that comes the first picture from the film, featuring Christina Hendricks going into a rather ominous looking building.

Iain De Caestecker, who co-stars in the movie told Empire last year, “There’s my character, Bones, his mother and his younger brother. There’s also a girl next door played by Saoirse Ronan, called Rat. It’s about this family living in a town called Lost River, which is perhaps a place that was once full of family and happiness and love, and is now this town that’s slowly descending into a place without any hope. This family is holding onto the foundations of their house and everything they think they need to hold onto.”

Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, Barbara Steele and Eva Mendes also star.

Director: Brian Dannelly
Running Time: 86 mins
Certificate: 12

Chris Colfer made his name as Kurt on Glee. While that keeps him pretty busy, he’s found time to write some children’s books and also the screenplay for Struck By Lightning. The fact he’s still only 23 is quite sickening.

He also takes the lead role here as Carson Phillips, who in the first few seconds of the movie is hit by lightning and killed. The film then flashes back to see how he got to that point. Carson is a senior in high school with dreams of becoming a journalist. He knows where he wants to work and what university he intends to go to – and he’s determined to get there. [Read more…]

Christina Hendricks Up For A Book Of Common Prayer Adaptation

March 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Christina-HendricksChristina Hendricks has gained a lot of fans thanks to Mad Men, but she’s yet to make much of a dent in the movie world, even though she has popped up in Drive and Struck By Lightning. Now she’s got a new movie role, as Variety reports that she’s signed on for director Campbell Scott’s adaptation of Joan Didion’s 1977 novel A Book of Common Prayer.

Joyce McKee and Rachel LeMin wrote the screenplay, which is about Charlotte Douglas (Hendricks), an American woman whose life is torn apart when her daughter runs away with a group of terrorist radicals. She heads for a Central American country that’s on the brink of revolution, as she believes that this is the place where she and her daughter will reunite. In the novel, the narrative is told from the point of view of an American expatriate anthropologist, who attempts to apply her analytical point of view into understanding Charlotte’s journey.

This isn’t Hendrick’s only upcoming film role, as she’s due to reunite with Drive co-star Ryan Gosling on his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster.

Ben Mendlesohn Will Find How To Catch A Monster, In Ryan Gosling’s Film

November 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ryan Gosling is busy putting together his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, and he’s added a new piece to the puzzle, casting Animal Kingdom and Dark Knight Rises star Ben Mendelsohn in the movie, according to Moviehole.

It’s not the first time they’ve worked together, as they recently starred alongside one another in Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond The Pines.

How to Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy noir and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy (Christina Hendricks), a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive. It all sounds a bit weird, but hopefully Gosling’s script (yep, he wrote it too) will make sense when we see the movie.

It’s not clear who Mendelsohn will play.

Cameras are set to start rolling next May.
