God bless Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. They’re both very talented comic actors who struggle valiantly in Let’s Be Cops to make it work, but thanks to a script that’s far too dumb and clunky it’s all to little avail.

Ryan (Johnson) and Justin (Wayans) are friends who’ve reached their 30s and are struggling with the fact that neither of them are even close to living their dreams. When they’re invited to a reunion ‘costume party’ (which turns out to be a masquerade ball), they decide to go as cops. Let’s Be Cops Red Band Trailer – Damon Wayans Jr. & Jake Johnson impersonate the police

Last time I looked, impersonating a police officer was a crime, but it’s also got a fair amount of potential for comedy.

That’s the premise behind Let’s Be Cops, starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson, which has just released its first red band trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It’s the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they’re not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.’

James D’Arcy, Andy Garcia, Rob Riggle and Nina Dobrev also star.

It’ll be in cinemas this summer.

James D’Arcy Set To Get Villainous In Let’s Be Cops

james-darcy Brit actor James D’Arcy’s Stateside exposure has certainly been helped in the last few months by Cloud Atlas, and Hitchcock. It’s helped him score a role in a slightly more mainstream project, Let’s Be Cops, according to Variety.

The movie is about two best friends – Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson – who are looking for a little more out of life. They impersonate cops for kicks, but when they unknowingly mess with a real mobster, the game gets real.

D’Arcy will play the bad guy that Johnson and Wayans’ characters cross. Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev has also recently signed up to play Johnson’s love interest.

There’s no news on when the film might shoot.

Anthony Hopkins gave some amazing performances in the 1980s and 1990s, but for the last decade or so it’s seemed like he’s simply turned up for his paycheque. However it turns that to get him to give a real performance you’ve got to give him a role where he doesn’t have much choice but to act. After all, Alfred Hitchcock is far too well known for Hopkins just to have coasted it. Thankfully he doesn’t, not just doing a dead-on impersonations of the master director, but creating a fully realised character in a way Toby Jones couldn’t quite manage in the recent, The Girl. Scarlett Johansson On For The Making Of Psycho

Scarlett Johansson and James D’Arcy have signed up for Sacha Gervasi’s rather intriguing movie, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, a movie that sounds like it’ll be great fun for film fans. The project already has Anthony Hopkins playing Alfred Hitchcock and Helen Mirren is as his wife, Alma, who was almost as important to the Hitchcock filmmaking machine as Alfred was.

As the title suggests, the film is about making of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960s classic, Psycho. Scarlett Johansson will play the movie’s lead actress, Janet Leigh, with James D’Arcy playing Anthony Perkins. John McLaughlin wrote the script from the Stephen Rebello book with the same name.

Rebello’s book goes behind-the-scenes of the creation of the film from the story’s original inspiration to the controversy surrounding the creation of the famous shower scene. He drew his inspiration from interviews with cast members as well as Alfred Hitchcock’s private files.

The film will shoot later this year for release in 2013. (Source: Variety)
