James Franco & Rachel McAdams On For The Little Prince Adaptation

June 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-little-prince-book-coverAntoine de Saint-Exupéry’s 1943 novella The Little Prince has fast become a children’s classic, and now it looks like it’s going to get a big screen animated adaptation, with a fairly starry cast lining up to add their voice talents.

THR reports that James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro and Paul Giamatti have all signed up to voice characters in the movie. Mark Osborned (Kung Fu Panda) is set to direct.

The Little Prince is about a pilot who crash lands in the Sahara desert and then comes across a young boy who claims to hail from an asteroid and has fallen to Earth. As the pilot fixes his plane, the boy tells him stories about his homeworld.

Bridges will be provide the voice of the pilot, but there’s no info on who the other actors will be portraying.

Crush Of The Day: James Franco By Terry Richardson For GQ

May 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

James-Franco_Terry-Richardson_US-GQ_03-slide
James Franco went in front of the legendary Terry Richardson’s camera for a GQ shoot, resulting in some shots that are as zany as you’d expect from the actor (we’re assuming they’re meant to show off the fact it’s a special comedy issue of GQ, but they mainly just suggest Franco is nuts).

However, if you’ve ever want to see what James looks like getting a blowjob from a skeleton, this is your lucky guy. I also have to say, I’m liking his guns.

There’s also a behind-the-scenes vid of Franco for you to take a look at. [Read more…]

As I Lay Dying Trailer – James Franco takes on a William Faulkner novel

May 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You could be forgiven you not knowing James Franco had directed any movies, but he’s actually made quite a few, although the likes of The Broken Tower and Sal have been small, arty and not seen by many people.

Now he’s going a little more high profile with As I Lay Dying, an adaptation of a William Faulkner novel that will be playing at Cannes. Before its festival debut, a trailer has been released, giving us a feel for movie. As with Franco’s other movies, it gives the impression of being made incredibly quickly, which in this case could actually be a bonus.

It charts the story of the Bundren family and their attempts to bury Addie Bundren in the town of Jefferson. [Read more…]

James Franco, Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis Decide To Marry Men In A New Vid

May 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

James Franco, Edward Norton and Zach Galifianakis may spend most of their time being movie stars, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to fit in a fun web video if an idea takes their fancy.

They’ve teamed up with Andy Samberg and the rest of the Lonely Island crew for a vid which starts off as an episode of Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns web series, where Franco gets asked awkward questions about his penis. However it then breaks into a Spring Break Anthem where all the guys decide to marry one another!

Take a look above. [Read more…]

James Franco Joins Director Wim Wenders’ Every Thing Will Be Fine

May 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-francoJames Franco has signed up to star in Wim Wenders’ new movie, Every Thing Will Be Fine, which will start shooting in Montreal from August 15 and continue then in January 2014, according to Variety.

Scripted by Norwegian writer Bjørn Olaf Johannessen, Franco will play Tomas, a writer, who accidentally causes the death of a child. The story follows Tomas through the next twelve years, searching for the footprints of the accident on his life, as well as on the life of Kate, the child’s mother.

Although it doesn’t sound like the sort of movie that’s usually shot in 3D, Wenders became a fan of the format following the $30 million Oscar-nominated success of his ballet movie/documentary Pina, and so will add the extra dimension to Every Thing Will Be Fine. The film will be shot in 3D.

Wenders says, “Every Thing Will Be Fine is a family drama, unravelling over the course of 12 years. A story of guilt and forgiveness, and of accepting things you cannot change anymore. We wrote it with 3D in mind, and I’m convinced that the medium lends itself really well to an intimate story.”

James Franco May Become A Queen Of The Desert

April 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

james-francoJude Law seems to be making leaving movies he was attached to a bit of a theme at the moment, as he joined and left Jane Got A Gun within a week last month, and now he’s left behind Werner Herzog’s upcoming Gertrude Bell biopic Queen of the Desert, according to Deadline. Herzog may have already found a replacement though in the form of James Franco.

The true story film stars Naomi Watts as Gertrude Bell, an explorer, writer, archaeologist and attaché for the British Empire, who is credited with helping to catalyse the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th Century. She’s been described as the female Lawrence of Arabia, although the film will also include the real T.E. Lawrence, played by Robert Pattinson. There’s no news on exactly what the role Franco is up for will be.

Law dropped out a few months ago so that he could do the play Henry V, which caused Queen Of The Desert to come to a halt, but getting Franco onboard will hopefully start it back up again.
