Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg Take On Console Wars

February 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

seth-rogenIt’s tough to seen how the rivalry between two companies will become a movie, but Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg obviously think they can find a way. Collider reports they’ve signed up to co-write and co-direct a movie based on the upcoming book, Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo And The Battle That Defined A Generation, by Blake Harris.

The non-fiction book takes a close look at the fight between Sega and Nintendo in the 1990s, when both companies were battling for console dominance. Their striving to be the best (and to undermine the other) led to the massive gaming industry we have today, where Nintendo is still a player, but Sega has fallen by the wayside, replaced by Sony and Microsoft.

The book follows the fight between the 16-bit consoles the SNES and the Sega Mega Drive, both of which helped turn video games from something most people only saw on arcade machines, into an essential part of every young person’s home.

Rogen may also star in the movie, but as yet he’s just set for writing and directing duties.

This Is The End International Trailer – Seth Rogen and his friends face the apocalypse

May 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

This Is The End looks like it could be a lot of fun, with a lot of young comedy actors playing versions of themselves, who have to face the apocalypse coming to get them. Now a new international trailer and a red band TV spot have arrived to make this look like it’ll be even more entertaining.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen head to James Franco‘s house for a party, they’re not surprised to see the likes of Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Aziz Ansari, Kevin Hart, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Rihanna and Emma Watson. What they are surprised about is when the apocalypse starts right outside their door and many of those friends meet their untimely deaths. That leaves six of the friends (Franco, Rogen, Hill, McBride, Robinson, Baruchel) in survival mode.’

It hits US cinemas on June 12th and arrives in the UK on June 28th.

Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg To Produce Sell Out

May 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

seth-rogenSeth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s directorial debut, This Is the End, hits cinemas this month. Now they’ve got a new project, as TheWrap reports that they’ve have optioned Simon Rich’s four-part novella Sell Out.

At the moment Seth Rogen is not attached to star, but he will produce with Evan Goldberg through their Point Grey Pictures company. It’s possible Rogen may want to appear once the script starts coming together though.

The novella follows a fictionalised version of the author, a former writer for Saturday Night Live, as he meets his great-great-grandfather Herschel, who was preserved in pickle brine for over 100 years. The old man tries to come to grips with modern society, and his great-great-grandson’s life as a script doctor in Brooklyn.

James Weaver (The Guilt Trip, 50/50) is also producing, while Simon Rich will serve as executive producer.

New posters have shown up online for The Great Gatsy, This Is The End and Pain & Gain, which you can see above and below. The Gatsby poster comes just a few hours before we’ve been promised a new trailer for the Baz Luhrmann’s take on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, so look out for that.

Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain sees Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson as two Florida bodybuilder who get caught up in a kidnapping that spirals way out of hand. This Is The End, meanwhile, sees the likes of James Franco, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill playing versions of themselves as they deal with the end of the world in LA.
