Jennifer Lawrence Up For The Rosie Project

July 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

jennifer-lawrenceWith her Hunger Games and X-Men duties nearly wrapped up (unless she signs up for more, of course), Jennifer Lawrence is a free agent and has been lining up a variety of projects to star in. Now she’s got another, with Variety reporting she’s set to appear in The Rosie Project.

The film is ‘based on the Graeme Simsion novel, [and] centers on a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate – only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman, who possesses the opposite qualities. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who teamed on ‘(500) Days of Summer,’ have revised Simsion’s adaptation of the novel.’

In the book the scientist has a 16-page survey to help him find his wife – something that understandably makes women a little wary of him. However he becomes intrigued by Rosie’s quest to find her biological father.

A director is currently being sought (Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were attached, but have dropped out to concentrate on the recently confirmed Han Solo origins Star Wars movie).

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Character Posters Put On Their War Paint

July 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-2-character-poster1-slideWe’ve still got a few months to wait until The Hunger Games movies come to an end with Mockingjay Part 2, but a set of character posters have emerged, with the warriors of District 13 putting on their war paint.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.’

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is released in UK cinemas on 19th November 2015.

Take a look at the posters above and below. [Read more…]

June 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mockingjay-part-2-pic1-slideFor the first bit of this Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 trailer it seems things are going surprisingly well for Katniss and her allies. However it should come as no surprise to discover that doesn’t last long and soon the war that Part 1 promised is in full swing.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. First Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Featuring Jennifer Lawrence & Liam Hemsworth Arrives

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mockingjay-part-2-pic1Yesterday the first The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 poster arrives, which suggested the rebels really want to destroy President Snow, and now it’s been followed by the first image, with rumours that a trailer will be coming next week.

The pic shows Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Messalla (Evan Ross) and Finnick (Sam Claflin) apparently in battle against the Capitol.

First Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Poster & Teaser Revealed

March 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-Part-2-poster1The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 may have only just arrived on DVD, but Lionsgate is already thinking to the future and the release of the final film in the series later this year.

They’ve now released the first poster and teaser/logo for the film (via EW), and it probably won’t be a shock to find that it’s reminiscent of a lot of the earlier films, with an image of a Mockingjay, but taken from a slightly different angle.

It’s a good reminder though – as if we needed it – that later this year we’ll be able to see what happens to Katniss and her allies as they go up against the evil Capitol in a final showdown.

Mockingjay Part 2 will be in cinema November 20th. [Read more…]

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (Blu-ray Review)

March 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin
Director: Francis Lawrence
Running Time: 122 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: March 16th 2015 (UK)

Mockingjay was always going to have a struggle, despite the success of the previous movies. Anyone who’s read the books will know that the third instalment is rather different from the earlier two, not least because there’s no Hunger Games arena and things get pretty dark and glum. Many also wondered whether there was enough material to make two films out of it, or if this gambit to get more cash from the Panem cow was a stretch too far.

It’s pleasing to see then that Mockingjay Part 1 is pretty good. Quite how good it is is difficult to say at the moment, as it’s tough to escape the feeling that this is a long build-up to Part 2, and it’s only going to be with the hindsight of the final instalment that we’ll really be able to properly judge. Steven Spielberg & Jennifer Lawrence Team For War Photographer Memoir It’s What I Do

March 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jennifer-lawrenceSteven Spielberg & Jennifer Lawrence seem like a bit of a dream team, and now it’s happening as Deadline reports that they’re getting together for It’s What I Do, based on the memoir by Lynsey Addario.

Warner Bros. picked up the rights for the due following a whirlwind auction that saw numerous studios and production companies in the mix – many of which had other hot actresses attached. Working Title wanted it for Reese Witherspoon, Darren Aronofsky & Natalie Portman were circling, and Margot Robbie was after it too, while The Weinstein Company was bidding for George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Addario herself met with all the interested parties before Warners, Spielberg and Lawrence landed it.

The subject ‘is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who went to Afghanistan during the post-9/11 invasion of Afghanistan and carved out a niche giving an identity to the victims of conflict. That includes how Afghans suffered during the Taliban regime, the Iraqi War, victims of genocide in Darfur, the rape of women in the Congo. Her work in dangerous locales included her being kidnapped by pro-Quaddafi forces in the Libyan civil war.’

It’s not clear when the movie might shoot.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Going On The Dive With Hunger Games Director Francis Lawrence

January 18, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jennifer-lawrenceJennifer Lawrence must have enjoyed working with Francis Lawrence on the Hunger Games sequels, as she’s now onboard for his new movie, which also has James Cameron attached to produce.

TheWrap says that Lawrence will Audrey Mestre in the free diving biopic, ‘who died during an attempt to beat her own world record of 557.7 feet. (Francisco) Ferraras paid tribute to his late wife by diving to the same depth in an attempt that was filmed by Cameron.’

Cameron has been eyeing a biopic of Mestre for some time and even flirted with directing it himself. However he’s now passed the reins to Lawrence, although it’s not clear when it will shoot.

Edgar Ramirez Has Joy Alongside Jennifer Lawrence In David O. Russell’s Biopic

December 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

edgar-ramirezAfter a few years flirting on the edges of Hollywood following his acclaimed performance in Carlos, Edgar Ramirez is in talks for a major role in David O. Russell’s joy, according to THR.

He joins Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro in the movie, which is a biopic of Joy Mangano, a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention. Annie Mumolo wrote the script about a woman who was working three jobs to try and support her family, and had to fight to get her invention recognised, but it eventually became a home shopping sensation, including her becoming one of the Home Shopping Network’s most successful presenters. Robert De Niro will play Joy’s father.

Assuming he signs on Ramirez will play her husband, Tony.

The actor has had small roles in the likes of Wrath Of The Titans, Zero Dark Thirty and The Bourne Ultimatum. However with his upcoming appearance as Bodhi in the remake of Point Break and now Joy, his star could be about the break big.

The film is due to shoot next February and may well be making an Oscar run at the end of 2015.
