The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Victors Get A Banner

August 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The marketing for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is ratcheting up before the film’s November release. The latest is a banner showing off a selection of the victors of previous Hunger Games, who are forced back into the arena.

You can click on the pic above for a larger version, or head over to ComicBookMovie for a more interactive version.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE opens on November 22, 2013.’

Katniss & Peeta Get A Hunger Games Victors Banner, Plus The First Poster For Terry Gilliam’s Zero Theorem

August 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

catching-fire-victory-panel-posterThe Victors Emerge is a new banner for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which show Katniss and Peeta looking slinky in skin-tight outfits. It’s the first in a series of pics due to debut on the new site, TheHungerGamesExplorer.com. The image sees them gearing up for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, also known as The Quarter Quell, which brings many past victors back to head go into the arena once more. The film’s out in November.

Also just released, via TheFilmStage, is the first poster for Terry Gilliam’s Zero Theorem. The movie is about an eccentric and reclusive computer genius (Christoph Waltz), who is plagued with existential angst while working on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence, or the lack thereof, once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.

Ben Whishaw, Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, Mélanie Thierry, Lucas Hedges and Sanjeev Bhaskar co-star. The story, by Pat Rushin, was partially inspired by Gilliam’s own Brazil, so it’s very apt Terry has taken the project on.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire International Trailer – Katniss & Peeta head back to the arena

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The November release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is drawing closer, and now a new international trailer has been released, giving us plenty of new footage from the film. It certainly looks dramatic, with rebellion fermenting in the districts and the Capitol trying to quell that by putting former champions back in the arena – including Katniss and Peeta.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. As expected, a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was unveiled at Comic-Con, which was then immediately placed online so we can all take a look. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is hoping to take over San Diego this weekend at Comic-Con, and ahead of that a dozen new Quarter Quell (the name for the 75th Hunger Games) posters have been released, showing us the former winners who will be going back into the arena.

Red Dawn (2013) (Blu-ray)

July 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Adrianne Palicki
Director: Dan Bradley
Running Time: 93 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: July 8th 2013

Red Dawn was shot in 2009, before Chris Hemsworth became Thor and Josh Hutcherson made The Hunger Games, but it got caught up in MGM’s bankruptcy, resulting in the movie only now arriving on Blu-ray and DVD. While there was a decent reason for the delay, the fact is that like many movies that have sat on the shelf for a while, it’s not great – although it could have been a lot worse. [Read more…]

Josh Hutcherson Is Going Ape In A New Psychological Thriller

May 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Josh-HutchersonThanks to The Hunger Games, Josh Hutcherson now has much more power to pick and choose the projects he’d like to work on, and it seems one that he fancies is the dark psychological drama Ape. It’ll be a bit of a departure for the actor, who has had some serious roles (The Kids Are All Right), but has generally steered clear of thriller territory.

TheWrap reports that newcomer Jon Johnston has come up with the script, while Miguel Sapochnik is set to direct. There aren’t too many details on the plot, other than that it’s about a young man who struggles with “mental illness, love and a deep-rooted family secret.”

Hutcherson describes it as, “A passion project for us and to see it get made would truly be a dream come true.” Hopefully that means this isn’t just another generic thriller. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

First The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer – ‘She has become a beacon of hope for them, she has to be eliminated’

April 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With the MTV Movie Awards comes the first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which I’m sure will have a lot of people very excited. It’s a good intro to the second movie, that manages to intrigue while hiding the big reveal of the main section of the plot.

The trailer sets up the fact that following Katniss and Peeta’s Hunger Games victory, dissent has grown in the districts and she’s now seen as a major threat by the Capitol and they want her out of the way. Indeed, President Snow doesn’t just seem to think Katniss needs to be eliminated. If you’ve read the book you’ll know what that means, although I won’t spoil it if you don’t know, although there are hints in this trailer.

The film is out this November. [Read more…]

Josh Hutcherson Shows NOH8 With A New Equality Pic

April 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

josh-hutcherson-noh8
Josh Hutcherson has been involved in gay rights for quite a while (even though he’s only 20), including co-founding the organisation Straight But Not Narrow, which works to promote gay-straight alliances in schools and elsewhere.

Now he’s got behind the lens for a NOH8 portrait – as well as one with his SBNN  cohorts – part of the campaign that’s seen all manner gay people and straight allies get photographed to show their support for marriage, gender and human equality. There are now over 20,000 of these images, including famous faces ranging from Pete Wentz and Debbie Gibson to Lance Bass and Bryan Singer.

Hutcherson has also filmed a PSA and made personal appearances for Straight But Not Narrow, and received GLAAD’s Vanguard award last year in acknowledgement of the work he’s done.

New Epic Trailer – Into an animated miniature world

March 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The creators of Ice Age and Rio return on May 24th with Epic, which looks like it should be pretty fun, even if it won’t please anti-environmentalist nutjobs. It’s certainly got a great voice cast, including Amanda Seyfried, Beyonce Knowles, Josh Hutcherson, Beyonce, Colin Farrell and more.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The creators of ICE AGE and RIO will reveal a hidden world unlike any other in an all new 3D CG action-adventure comedy. EPIC tells the story of a battle raging all around us between the forces of good, who protect nature, and the forces of evil, who wish to see it destroyed. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and unique characters to save their world…and ours. EPIC is released in cinemas May 2013 from Twentieth Century Fox.’
