Unforgettable Trailer – Katherine Heigl goes nuts when Rosario Dawson gets with her ex

December 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Somehow I don’t think this movie will be held up in the future as a paragon of 21st Century feminism, but hey, it could be kind of fun in a Fatal Attraction/Single White Female way. Now a trailer for the movie has arrived, suggesting things are gonna get pretty extreme between Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Katherine Heigl (“27 Dresses,” “Knocked Up”) and Rosario Dawson (the “Sin City” films) star in the film. “Unforgettable” marks a reunion for Heigl and Di Novi, who previously collaborated on “Life as We Know It.”

‘The main cast also includes Geoff Stults (TV’s “Zoo”), young actress Isabella Rice (“True Blood”), Simon Kassianides (TV’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Whitney Cummings (“The Wedding Ringer”), Robert Wisdom (TV’s “Chicago PD”) and film and television star Cheryl Ladd.

‘The film is being produced by Di Novi, Alison Greenspan (“If I Stay”) and Ravi D. Mehta (“Grudge Match”), from a screenplay by Christina Hodson.

‘Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband, David (Stults), becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Dawson)—not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly (Isabella Rice). Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.’

The movie will be in cinemas next April. [Read more…]

Jenny’s Wedding (DVD Review)

May 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Katherine Heigl, Alexis Bledl, Tom Wilkinson, Linda Emond, Grace Gummer
Director: Mary Agnes Donoghue
Running Time: 94 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: May 16th 2016 (UK)

Jenny (Katherine Heigl) has been with Kitty (Alexis Bledl) for five years, and now she wants to get married and start a family. However, she’s never told her family she’s gay. Now it’s time, but they’re a fairly conservative lot and when she tells her parents, both are shocked and ask her not to tell anyone else.

While neither of them totally reject their daughter, they don’t know how to react, with Jenny’s mother (Linda Emond) in particular not knowing what to do and feeling like she doesn’t really know her child at all, while her father (Tom Wilkinson) is nonplussed but seems willing to reach out – to a point. However, in trying not to let anyone know what’s really going on or to properly deal with it, they begin to create an increasingly tangled web, which comes unstuck when Jenny decides she is not going to hide any longer and won’t pussyfoot around her parents anymore. Jenny’s Wedding Trailer – Katherine Heigl is marrying Alexis Bledel in the gay marriage dramedy

July 2, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jennys-wedding-slideIt probably couldn’t be better timing for Jenny’s Wedding that the movie is arriving in the wake of the US Supreme Court equal marriage ruling, as the movie stars Katherine Heigl as a lesbian who’s excited to be marrying her sweetheart (Alexis Bledel).

However, Jenny’s parents have always thought that her new fiancee was her roommate. When they discover the truth they aren’t too happy about it as it goes against their values – something Jenny was aware of and one of the reasons she’d kept their relationship from them.

Tom Wilkinson, Linda Emond and Grace Gummer co-star in the film, which is due out in US cinemas on July 31st (and on VoD the following day).

The trailer for the movie has arrived, which you can take a look at below. [Read more…]

Katherine Heigl Is Having A Movie Gay Wedding & Wants Your Help

February 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Crowd-funding is becoming an increasingly popular way of raising cash, and it’s not just little known people who want money nowadays, as Katherine Heigl has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for post-production on her film, Jenny’s Wedding. And that wedding is between two women.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jenny Farrell (Katherine Heigl) has led an openly gay life – except with her conventional family. When she finally decides to start a family and marry the woman they thought was just her roommate, the small, safe world the Farrell’s inhabited changes forever. They are left with a simple and difficult choice – either change with it or drown.

‘Last November, MM Productions completed principal photography on the film “Jenny’s Wedding” and they are currently in post production.

‘Made independently, this film is the kind of movie the studios used to make all the time. It is about real people, the problems they face, and the personal courage it takes to resolve them. It is also about transformation and love.’

The filmmakers are hoping to raise $150,000 to get the movie finished and into film festival.

Heigl comments, “This film is about a young woman’s journey to live the life that is right for her and live it proudly. It is a project that I’m so passionate about and grateful to be a part of.”

If you want to help out, head over to Indiegogo.

Katherine Heigl & Patrick Wilson Head North of Hell

March 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

patrick-wilsonKatherine Heigl has mainly been busy being a new mom for the last year or so, but now she’s returning, and thankfully it’s not for yet another generic rom-com (at least it doesn’t look like it, but with Heigl you never know). Instead she’s joining Patrick Wilson in North of Hell for director Anthony Burns (Skateland), according to Deadline.

The movie is about Don Champagne (Wilson), who’s a successful businessman who seems to be living the good life. What most don’t know, however, is that behind the scenes his incredibly domineering wife (Heigl) viciously controls every aspect of his well-being.

Anthony Burns is directing from his own screenplay, which is based on an original story by Carlo Allen, Ted Elrick, and Tom Lavagnino. Shooting is scheduled to begin next month in Louisiana.

Katherine Heigl, Will Arnett & Brendan Fraser Take On The Nut Job

November 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Animation is such a long and expensive process it’s normally only the big boys such as Disney and Pixar who can take on feature-length projects, but a few others do manage to get made, and that’s just what Peter Lepeniotis is doing with The Nut Job.

And to try and ensure him movie gets a decent chance, he’s recruited a fine voice cast for the film, with Deadline reporting that Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Brendan Fraser, Stephen Lang, Sarah Gadon and Jeff Dunham have all signed up. The film is based on Lepeniotis’ 2005 short film Surly Squirrel, and is set in the 1950s in a place called Oakton. At the centre of it is a squirrel named Surly and a rat named Buddy who try to work out plans to rob a nut store.

Lepeniotis is a veteran of both Pixar and ILM and worked on movies such as Toy Story 2, Casper, and Fantasia/2000, so he knows what he’s doing, but for this one he’s teamed up with Canada-based animation company ToonBox Entertainment, along with Korea’s Redrover Co, Ltd.

You can watch the original short below.

The Big Wedding Trailer – Robert De Niro & Diane Keaton pretend to still be married

August 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hollywood adores movies about weddings, even though most of them are god-awful. However at least The Big Wedding has a decent cast, even if the trailer doesn’t make it seem all that good. Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams star in what’s described as ‘an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future – and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process. Screenplay by Justin Zackham. Directed by Justin Zackham.’ It hits UK cinemas November 9th.

One For The Money (DVD)

June 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Katherine Heigl, Jason O'Mara, Daniel Sunjata, John Leguizamo
Director: Julie Anne Robinson
Running Time: 87 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: June 18th, 2012

Katherine Heigl’s name is becoming increasingly synonymous with slightly underpar movies. It’s a great shame as she’s actually a very good actress. Her work in Grey’s Anatomy was incredibly strong, winning her an Emmy, and it was due to this and Knocked Up that it looked like she’d have a strong movie career. However the likes of The Ugly Truth, Killers and now One For The Money suggest she’s either not very good at picking projects, or she’s only being offered second string flicks.

To be honest, you can understand why she’d think One For The Money would be a good idea. It’s based on Janet Evanovich’s incredibly popular Stephanie Plum novels and was obviously set up in the hope of creating a franchise. Unfortunately the end result is limp, rather silly and while not actively bad, doesn’t have much that’s truly good about it. [Read more…]

The Happytime Murders Concept Art Online

March 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Happytime Murders has been in development for a long time, with the dark noir drama having funding and various other issues, partly because it’s a dark noir drama, but with puppets. However it’s now moving forward, with Katherine Heigl being linked to one of the human roles last month, and now some rather cool concept art and an official synopsis has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In a world where puppets co-exist with humans as second class citizens, puppet private eye and disgraced ex-cop, Phil Phillips, is hot on the trail of the serial killer who murdered his brother and is now targeting the cast members of the famous 80s television show, “The Happytime Gang.” As the killings continue, Phil’s former flame, Jenny, is next on the list. It’s up to Phil and his ex-partner, Detective Edwards, to find the culprit, but as bad blood and old resentments resurface the clues start pointing to the only viable suspect, Phil himself. Now he’s on the run with only his wits and hard headed determination, as he tries to solve, The Happytime Murders.’

Brian Henson (son of Jim) is set to direct, although it isn’t clear when it might go into production.

Katherine Heigl In Talks For Happytime Murders

February 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Jim Henson Company has been throwing the idea of The Happytime murders around for quite a while now, ever since they snapped up the blacklisted script by Todd Berger (Kung Fu Panda 2). Now things are moving forward with Deadline reporting that Katherine Heigl is in advanced negotiations to take the lead in the film.

The film is a kind of more grown-up ally of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, in that it’s a film noir in which the fictional and real live side-by-side, although rather than animated characters, this time around its humans living alongside puppets.

Unfortunately puppets are treated as second-class citizens, and in this R-rated universe are just as likely to get into booze, drugs and sex as any of their human counterparts. When the puppet cast of 1980s children’s TV show, The Happytime Gang, begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet (who has a drinking problem), takes the case with his former human partner. It’s been described as Avenue Q meets LA Confidential, which is quite a mash-up.

Cameron Diaz was previously in talks for the film, but it now appears Heigl will be taking over the female lead role. It’d certainly be an interesting role and hopefully show some of the talent Heigl has been squandering in awful rom-coms.

Jim Henson’s son Brian is set to direct, although it’s not clear when shooting might being.
