The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Teaser Trailer – Revolution is brewing for Katniss and co.

July 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-mockingjay-poster-slideIt’s here! After some smart marketing where The Capitol has been calling for unity in a very iron fist in a velvet glove way, the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is here, and you can watch it below.

Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the poster child for it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around. The teaser also gives us a look at Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, whose feeling about Katniss may not be entirely altruistic.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 21st, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below. [Read more…]

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Blu-ray)

March 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland
Director: Francis Lawrence
Running Time: 146 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: March 17th 2014

With the first Hunger Games, many remarked that it was surprisingly violent for a young adult film. The second isn’t quite as violent, but it’s is surprisingly dark and gritty. Many wondered whether swapping director Gary Ross for Francis Lawrence would result in a more mainstream, Hollywood-ised tale, but instead it’s rather gone the other way, with a film that doesn’t pull its punches over the darkness and pain at its heart, or try to make its hero less flawed than she is. January 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire became the first female led movie since The Exorcist to take the title of the highest grossing movie of the year, which certainly suggests we can also expect massive box office for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 when it hits cinemas this November.

Catching Fire may not have even reached DVD yet, but Lionsgate wants to make sure anticipation is already going to start rising for the next movie with the release of a teaser poster via the film’s Facebook page.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the novel “Mockingjay” by Suzanne Collins, THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PARTS 1 & 2 make up the third and fourth installments of heroine Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.’

Part 1 is out November 21st this year, with Part 2 coming November 20th 2015.

December 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

robert-knepperWhen he was young, Robert Knepper was allowed to played good guys, however in recent years – particularly since his villainous role in Prison Break – he’s only been allowed to be a baddie. That’s not changing here.

The official Hunger Games Twitter has revealed that he’s signed up to appear in two-part The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, where he’ll be playing Antonius, who’s a minister to Donald Sutherland’s evil President Snow.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire International Trailer – Katniss & Peeta head back to the arena

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The November release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is drawing closer, and now a new international trailer has been released, giving us plenty of new footage from the film. It certainly looks dramatic, with rebellion fermenting in the districts and the Capitol trying to quell that by putting former champions back in the arena – including Katniss and Peeta.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.’

The film’s due out November 22nd.

As expected, a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was unveiled at Comic-Con, which was then immediately placed online so we can all take a look. First Look At Liam Hemsworth In Cut Bank

July 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cut-bank-pic1 thumb
Despite The Hunger Games, Liam Hemsworth hasn’t quite got the fame of his brother Chris. He’s working on it though, with the Hunger Games sequels coming, as well as the thriller Paranoia, which is due in cinemas soon. Now we get our first look at another one of his movies, Cut Bank, where we can see him standing in a field (and unlike most of the other images of him that get released, in this one he’s wearing a shirt!).

Although it may not look like it, the film is actually a sci-fi flick. It follows Dwayne McLaren (Hemsworth ) a high school star athlete recently turned auto mechanic, who dreams of getting out of tiny town on Cut Bank, the coldest town in America, and whisking his pageant-hopeful girlfriend, Cassandra (Teresa Palmer), away to the big city.

However, his plan to leave sets in motion a deadly series of events and thrusts him into a police investigation headed by Sheriff Vogel (John Malkovich), the protector of Cut Bank and the closest thing Dwayne has to a father figure. Panic sweeps across the community in mere hours, but things are not what they seem. Cassandra’s father, Big Stan Steeley (Billy Bob Thornton), is the only one who seems to realise this. However, the damage is already done and the events that unfold change Dwayne’s life, and the life of the town, forever.

The film’s due out next year.

More Shirtless Liam Hemsworth Pics Try To Convince Us To See Paranoia

July 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

liam-hemsworth-shirtless-paranoia3-slide
It’s never a good sign when the main marketing effort a studio makes for a film is to release shirtless photos of one of the main male stars. Actually, let me qualify that, it’s great to see the photos and perhaps drool a little, but it often mean they’ve realised the best the film isn’t that good, so they dangle the possibility of semi-nudity in front of us in the hope of pulling gays and (straight) gals into cinemas.

Hopefully that’s not true of Paranoia, but except for a trailer, the main thing the distributors have done is release images of Liam Hemsworth with his shirt off. You might think that as this film also stars Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, they might also release a few images of them (preferably with their shirts on, but that’s just my taste), but so far it’s mainly been Hemsworth’s nipples.

Liam stars as Adam Cassidy, an ambitious young man trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at a telecommunications firm. After he makes a costly mistake, the company CEO (Oldman) agrees not to turn him in if he spies on Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), Nicholas’ mentor and a rival executive.

Robert Luketic is directing from a screenplay by Jason Dean Hall, which he adapted from the novel of the same name by Joseph Finder. Lucas Till, Embeth Davidtz, Amber Heard, Julian McMahon also star. The film hits the US on August 16th, and should reach the UK a couple of months later.

Take a look at the new pics of Hemsworth below (click on them for larger versions) and you can find an earlier one here. [Read more…]

Liam Hemsworth hasn’t really broken out beyond The Hunger Games yet, but he’s certainly trying. Now he has joined the cast of Matt Shakman’s upcoming crime thriller Cut Bank, according to THR.

The movie is about Dwayne McLaren (Hemsworth), who dreams about leaving his hometown of Cut Bank, Montana.

While you’d have thought getting out of town would be easy, his efforts the leave trigger a deadly series of events that change the town and his life forever.

A pretty good cast including John Malkovich, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen and Teresa Palmer are lined up to star.

Matt Shakman is directing from a script written by Roberto Patino. Shooting started a couple of days ago.

Paranoia Trailer – Liam Hemsworth takes on Gary Oldman & Harrison Ford

June 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Corporate thrillers are often a difficult sell because it’s tough to make them look all that interesting in the space of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, as even with plenty of action, it’s still men in suits looking serious. It’s a slightly problem with Paranoia, although at least the trailer suggests it could be okay.

Liam Hemsworth stars as Adam Cassidy, an ambitious young man trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at a telecommunications firm. After he makes a costly mistake, the company CEO (Oldman) agrees not to turn him in if he spies on Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), Nicholas’ mentor and a rival executive. Amber Heard is set to play a potential love interest for Adam, who works at the company he is spying on.

Robert Luketic is directing from a screenplay by Jason Dean Hall, which he adapted from the novel of the same name by Joseph Finder. Lucas Till, Embeth Davidtz, Amber Heard, Julian McMahon. The film hits US cinemas on August 16th, but no UK date is currently set. [Read more…]
