Transformers: Age Of Extinction (Blu-ray Review)

November 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer
Director: Michael Bay
Running Time: 165 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: November 17th 2014 (UK)

Reviewing Transformers: Age Of Extinction seems slightly pointless. It has an abysmal 18% rating on RottenTomatoes, with only 32 out of 178 that collated reviews saying it’s a decent movie. Despite that it’s currently the highest grossing movie of 2014 worldwide with over $1 billion in the bank (largely thanks to a gargantuan gross in China). So whether anyone says it’s good or bad seems a little irrelevant.

But just for the record, it’s not a good movie. [Read more…]

Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer – The rules have changed for Mark Wahlberg & Jack Reynor

March 5, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After lots of posters and promises, the trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction is here. All the posters said that ‘The rules have changed’, but from the look of it the rules of Michael Bay moviemaking haven’t, with women there to look pretty and lots of things exploding.

There are some pretty cool shots, including looks at the dinobots which will show up in the film.

In the movie, Mark Wahlberg will play Cade, the father of Nicol Peltz’s Tessa. Jack Reynor meanwhile is Tessa’s boyfriend, Shane. Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Bingbing Li also star, with Michae Bay once more directing. The movie will be out in cinemas in late June in the US and early July in the UK. Yesterday we featured a Transformers: Age Of Extinction poster featuring Mark Wahlberg, well now his very hot co-stars Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz have gotten ones of their own. And it’s all in preparation for the trailer, which is due imminently.

There’s still not much info on the plot, but it appears Mark Wahlberg will play Cade, the father of Peltz’s Tessa. Reynor meanwhile is Tessa’s boyfriend, Shane. However it’s not 100% clear how they’ll get involved with the giant robots, or the dinobots that will make an appearance in this instalment in the franchise.

Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Bingbing Li also star, with Michae Bay once more directing. The movie will be out in cinemas in late June in the US and early July in the UK.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction Super Bowl Spot – First look at the movie including the dinobots

February 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There may be a new human cast for Transformers: Age Of Exctinction, but as this first look spot for the movie shows, the robots are back and as big as ever. It certainly looks as big and manic as the previous films, even if Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor are replacing Shia LeBeouf and co.

The spot also gives use our first proper look at the dinobots, which will be making their movie debut in the film.

It’s due out in July and as Michael Bay is back in the director’s chair, expect it to be big, brash and explosive. [Read more…]

New Transformers: Age of Extinction Pics Emerge Showing Off Jack Reynor & Mark Wahlberg

November 29, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Transformers-4-pic4
Michael Bay is hoping that despite a complete reboot of the human cast, audiences will still show up for Transformers: Age Of Extinction when it’s released next summer. Now seven new images have been released, showing off some of those humans, including Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor (who as the pic above proves, is very pretty).

The film fits into Hollywood’s increasing love affair with China (which has nothing to do with the fact it’s now the second largest market in the world for movies, we’re sure), as it will see the Americans helping the Autobots defend China from a Decepticon attack. However full plot details haven’t been released yet.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction is out June 27th, 2014. [Read more…]

Transformers: Age Of Extinction Set Pic Shows Off Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor & Nicola Peltz

September 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Transformers-4-pic3
A couple of days ago a new pic of Michael Bay on the Transformers: Age Of Extinction set emerges, and now we’ve got another one. This one shows off the new main human cast, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor & Nicola Peltz, looking moody in front of an old gas station.

Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, Han Geng, Titus Welliver, T.J. Miller, and Kelsey Grammer also star, and while we’ve been promised Dinobots, there’s not been too much info on the plot, other that it features young woman (Peltz), her dad (Wahlberg), and her racecar driver boyfriend (Reynor).

It’s out next summer.

Transformers 4 Plot Details Revealed, With A Detroit Spring Shoot Announced

March 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Previous reports had suggested that Michael Bay’s was set to shoot Transformers 4 this summer in Chicago, but it’s now been revealed that the action sequel will actually start shooting in Detroit this spring. One of the main reasons for this is that The Michigan Film Board has granted a $20 million incentive on the proposed $81.9 million Paramount plan to spending in the state.

The Film Board has issues a press release about getting the production to their state, which includes the first info on the plot of the movie, which will see a complete overhaul of the human cast. Here it is, ‘As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.’

2007’s Transformers and 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon were both shot in Detroit. It isn’t known how long the production will remain in Michigan, although it does appear the movie will probably also shoot in Chicago, presumably for exteriors and big action sequences. The story, written by Ehren Kruger, will be set four years after the events in 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor are the only confirmed cast members at this point.

Brenton Thwaites & Nicola Peltz Join Transformers 4

December 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The robots may be staying the same, but the human cast is getting a complete makeover for Transformers 4. So it’s out with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox (and indeed Rosie Huntington Whiteley), but up until now we’ve only that Mark Wahlberg would be amongst new human faces of the franchise.

However Twitch says they’ve found out who’s been offered the main young male and female roles – Brenton Thwaites and Nicola Peltz. While both are relative newcomers, former Home & Away actor Thwaites will soon be seen as the Young Prince in Maleficent. He beat out the likes of Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Luke Grimes (Taken 2), Landon Liboiron (Terra Nova), and Irise newcomer Jack Reynor for the role.

Peltz meanwhile has previously popped up in The Last Airbender and Deck The Halls. For her role, the likes of Isabelle Cornish (Abbie Cornish’s sister) and Margaret Qualley (daughter of Andie Macdowell) also tested

Peltz will play Wahlberg’s daughter, a high school senior, who at one point was apparently the main character although that’s apparently shifted to her dad in her recent drafts of the script. Thwaites will be her biker boyfriend.

So far neither Paramount nor director Michael Bay has confirmed the news, but an official announcement should be coming soon.
