Patrick Stewart, Carla Gugino & Matthew Lillard Get A Match

January 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Patrick-StewartStephen Belber’s 2004 play, Match, earned plenty of praise on Broadway play Match, even if it ran for only a couple of months. Now he’s planning to direct a movie version and is lining up a great cast to help him. Deadline reports that Patrick Stewart, Carla Gugino and Matthew Lillard are now set to star.

According to the site, ‘Stewart plays a reclusive, eccentric Juilliard dance instructor and former choreographer, who is visited by a Seattle couple, (Gugino and Lillard) under the pretense of interviewing the dancer for her thesis on the New York dance movement in the 1960s. However, as the couple’s true intentions are revealed, he finds himself unable to dance around the impact of decisions he made long ago.’

Let’s hope the movie itself is a bit more exciting than that synopsis. Shooting is already underway in New York.

Hugh Jackman May Play Wolverine In X-Men: Days Of Future Past

November 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just yesterday it was revealed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will be back as Professor X and Magneto in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, playing opposite their younger counterparts, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Now comes the news, via THR, that Hugh Jackman is in talks to return as Wolverine for the movie.

Of course, he very briefly turned up in X-Men: First Class, where he gave short shrift to Professor X and Magneto’s attempts to recruit him to their mutant team. He would be an interesting addition to the film, as the plot features time travel, and as Wolverine doesn’t age (or at least does so very slowly) he would look pretty much the same in both timelines.

The story sees the First Class mutants getting involved with time travel in order to prevent a terrifying future from taking place. In the comic book story arc, that future sees mutants being hunted and killed, with the survivors rounded up by Sentinels and kept in concentration camps. However if a key event can be prevented, that won’t happen. Although it hasn’t been confirmed this will be the plot of the movie, it seems likely.

The likes of Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence will also return, with shooting scheduled for early next year. Bryan Singer directs, with a July 18th, 2014 release date set.

Ian McKellen & Patrick Stewart Back For X-Men: Days Of Future Past

November 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a while now people have been wondering if X-Men: Days Of Future Past would feature both the First Class mutants and some from the original X-Men trilogy, due to the fast the comic book story arc it’s based on features time travel.

Now we know that it will indeed, as Bryan Singer, who recently picked up the directing reins when Matthew Vaughn stepped down, has revealed on his Twitter account that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are returning as the older version Professor X and Magneto in X-Men: Days of Future Past. He also confirmed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are returning.

Here’s what he had to say: ‘I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, & Nicholas Hoult to #XMEN for #DaysOfFuturePast’

Adding, ‘Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @sirpatstew are joining the cast of #XMEN#DaysOfFuturePast#magneto#professorX More to come…’

As for how the older Professor X and Magneto exist alongside the younger versions played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, he simply says, ‘The movie is called X-Men: Days of Future Past, use your imagination. More to come.’

It’s believed the plot involved the First Class X-Men getting involved in time travel in order to stop a terrifying future from happening.

Dorothy Of Oz Trailer – The Emerald City gets animated

September 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While numerous OZ films have been announced over the last few years, most have fallen by the wayside or are still in development, but two are coming fairly soon – Disney’s live-action Oz The Great And Powerful, and the animated Dorothy Of Oz. Now the trailer for the latter is here. The plot begins as Dorothy returns to Kansas to find it devastated by the tornado that sent her to Oz. Before she can react to the destruction of her home, she is transported back to Oz, where her three friends (Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man) have disappeared. She meets a charming man made of marshmallows who can’t quite think for himself, a tiny china doll princess whose bossiness is a cover for her fragility, and a tugboat with as many personalities as he has pieces. Dorothy must help this group band together against the Jester, a wicked new villain who believes that all of Oz should be under his control. The movie features the voices of Lea Michele, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer and Patrick Stewart.
