June 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Insidious was a surprise hit, grossing just under $100 million worldwide on a budget of just $1.5 million. Now a sequel is on the way, Insidious Chapter 2, and we’ve got the trailer.

Director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell bring back the entire original cast, including Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Barbara Hershey, for more creepy adventures from ‘The Further’, a strange place that first became part of their lives when young Dalton fell into a coma.

The second film picks up just after the first ended, with the trailer suggesting there’ll be plenty more mysteries. The film hits cinemas September 13th.

New The Conjuring Trailer – Take a look at James Wan’s creepy new flick

April 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Saw and Insidious director James Wan is coming back with another creepy movie, The Conjuring. Now a new trailer for the movie has been released, giving us a good look at this supposedly based on a true story movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorised by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.’

Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor and Joey King star. A July 19th UK & US release date is set.

Katherine Heigl & Patrick Wilson Head North of Hell

March 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

patrick-wilsonKatherine Heigl has mainly been busy being a new mom for the last year or so, but now she’s returning, and thankfully it’s not for yet another generic rom-com (at least it doesn’t look like it, but with Heigl you never know). Instead she’s joining Patrick Wilson in North of Hell for director Anthony Burns (Skateland), according to Deadline.

The movie is about Don Champagne (Wilson), who’s a successful businessman who seems to be living the good life. What most don’t know, however, is that behind the scenes his incredibly domineering wife (Heigl) viciously controls every aspect of his well-being.

Anthony Burns is directing from his own screenplay, which is based on an original story by Carlo Allen, Ted Elrick, and Tom Lavagnino. Shooting is scheduled to begin next month in Louisiana.

The Conjuring Trailer – Lili Taylor, Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson have creepy troubles

February 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Conjuring is another one of those creepy paranormal tales that’s supposedly based on a true story, although quite how true it is, is highly debatable. Now we get out first chance to judge its veracity with a slightly creepy trailer (along with the new poster above).

Patrick Wilson & Rose Byrne Up For Insidious 2

November 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Insidious cost only $1.5 million to make but grossed around $100 million at the worldwide box office, so it’s not too surprising a sequel has been in the works. Now a US release date of August 30th, 2013 has been set and THR has revealed that both Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne have signed up to reprise their roles in this follow-up.

No story details have been revealed about the film, although with the first film following Wilson & Byrne as they try to save their son who’s trapped in a dark dimension by dark spirits, I think we can assume a lot more creepy things will be going on and the family hasn’t escaped the supernatural.

Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins will also return, with the same behind-the-screen team of director James Wan, screenwriter Leigh Whannell and producer Jason Blum back as well. Shooting will start January 15th in LA.

First Pics Of Vera Farmiga & Co. In James Wan’s The Conjuring

November 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Many wondered whether James Wan would be a one-hit wonder after creating and directing Saw. However 2010’s Insidious proved a significant hit and now he’s one of the most in demand helmers around. Next up he’s got The Conjuring, which hits cinemas next summer, and now the first images have arrived via EW, which you can see above and below.

The movie is based on the allegedly true story of a Rhode Island family who claimed they, “lived among the dead,” with friendly and evil spirits residing in their farmhouse. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson play paranormal investigators who head off to examine the house in the 1970s, finding more strangeness than they can handle. Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor play the haunted couple.

As well as The Conjuring, Wan is due to shoot a murder house thriller next January, starring Maria Bello, and he also recently attached himself to a screen version of MacGyver.

Patrick Wilson Wants To Stretch With Joe Carnahan Set To direct

November 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If all had gone to plan, The Grey helmer Joe Carnahan would be directing a gritty reboot of Daredevil just about now, but that fell through when Fox decided to drop the character and allow it to return to Marvel. While he’s got a remake of Death Wish up his sleeve, Collider reports that he may well slot in Stretch before then.

Carnahan himself tweeted a couple of days ago, ‘Thinking if ‘Death Wish’ isn’t next, I might knock out a 3 million dollar movie with my pal Jason Blum…stripped down, bare bones basics’, and presumably Stretch is this movie. Patrick Wilson is set to star and it’s an action thriller, but that’s about all we know about the movie.

Jason Blum is the Paranormal Activity producer who’s become a one-man powerhouse of low budget genre flicks, backing the likes of Insidious, Sinister and The Lords Of Salem.

Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler & Matt Bomer Head For Space Station 76

October 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s not often a film with a pretty good cast can shoot and we only hear about it when production has wrapped, but that’s what’s happened with Space Station 76, according to THR. The likes of Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Marisa Coughlan, Matt Bomer, Jerry O’Connell, Kali Rocha and Kylie Rogers all headed for the set, to star in this homage to 70s sci-fi.

Jack Plotnick wrote and directed the movie. Plotnick is best known as an actor, who’s popped up in all sorts of things, from Meet The Fockers and Buffy to Reno 911! and Gods & Monsters. However he’s also built up a reputation as a playwright and as an acting coach, which helped him build the impressive cast for his movie. Despite the sci-fi approach, the film started out as a play that uses the the space station as a metaphor for his life growing up in 1970s suburbia.

Described as being set in a 1970s version of the future, Liv Tyler plays a new assistant captain whose arrival causes tension amongst the crew, while Patrick Wilson is the bitter and suicidal captain. Bomer is a technician with a robotic hand who is married to a manipulative woman, played by Marisa Coughlan. While Plotnick is gay, it isn’t clear if there are any gay characters in the movie.

Plotnick says, “People think that the 1970s were about the discos and the free love, but in the suburbs you were left feeling, ‘Where’s the party?’ So the emotional story is what I felt in the ’70s. My parents weren’t happy together and they stuck it out for the kids. It’s an homage to them. And in one way, I think we’re like these solitary ships in space trying to connect.”

Patrick Wilson & Alec Baldwin Get Caught Stealing

September 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Patrick Wilson went to TV last year with A Gifted Man, but now that show has been cancelled, he’s heading back to the movies with Caught Stealing, according to THR, and Alec Baldwin will star in the film too.

Wilson will play Thompson, a character descibed as being “once a hotshot high school baseball prospect, turned unlucky alcoholic, going-nowhere bartender.” While living an exceedingly dull he suddenly finds himself caught up in something huge when he learns that the cat that he is taking care of for his neighbour has a secret hidden in its cage. Hank suddenly finds himself in possession of a very special key that many are looking for, including “a sadistic cop (Baldwin), Russian mobsters, a Samoan hit man, and a pair of psycho brothers who dress in leather gear.”

Producer Kirk D’Amico says, “Caught Stealing is, first and foremost, a great script. It is a wrong-man plot worthy of Hitchcock, and a brilliant adaption of the first book of the Henry Thompson trilogy. I look forward to seeing the story come to life on screen.”

It isn’t clear when it might shoot.
